The person hay able to get to the hospital on their own. We dont know yet their possible connection to skyline. Opd locked down the campus immediately with the help of chp explaining the shooting was inside the school. And they were glad that they were able to get everyone out without any issues. Police say that there may have been a fight at the school that escalated to this shooting. We have the chance to hear from those who were at the event last night both students and family members who heard the gunshots. Just Walking Around you know taking pictures and out of nowhere all you heard was pop, pop. Pop. Skyline, you know, should be a good day and stuff like that. Reporter and for monica, whos the first peruvian to be crowned queen, she picks up her specially designed dress shipped from peru, she says she carries her new title with gratitude. Its a big responsibility. First, i hope i can make everyone proud. Reporter and the pride both monica and yeison share is in showcasing unique indigenous dances which is the theme of this years carnaval. We wanted to honor our our indigenous community. And we want to share with San Francisco community here that that we where we came from. Reporter but in doing that, monica has had to take some creative risks. Including presenting a never before displayed dance at the festival. Never done this dance, this is the National Dance of peru. Its called marinara nortena. This dance is very traditional. Visually as well as you can learn a lot. That was my welcome to San Francisco. And that was when i really got to see San Francisco show up and show out. That was pride this is going to be a great summer. Plus bottle rock and plus stern grove. We are three steps fabulous and maybe even four. Why i say that . Check this out. Heres the first snap. Six snap and look at the sun shining in from the east bay to the bay bridge. Oh, good morning. We need that sun breaking through the clouds and were going to get a lot of that as we head into this afternoon. Mix of sun and clouds for us and heading into a beautiful but cool weekend. Right now theres a lot of may gray above me. This is our live cam overlooking the bay bridge from kpix here in San Francisco. As we head out the door today, oh, its going to be a lot cooler compared to the past couple of days and we kicked off this week with 80s down into the Santa Clara Valley. We have 60s today. Thats all the way in the east bay too. Yesterday we were in the 80s near antioch and concord and walnut creek and today once again 60s in the forecast and what is going on . We have 50s in San Francisco. 60s up in the north bay. We kicked off this weekend nice and warm but now its nice and cool for us as we head into the next couple of hours and throughout the next couple days actually. Heres the reason why. Lop is moving in from the north. What does that mean nor us . Cool, cloudy conditions with a chance of drizzle along the coast is expected for us today and tomorrow. It doesnt last long and moves to the east and suddenly were talking about sunny skies as we head into sunday. Still some clouds here and there. For example, San Francisco, but notice how temperatures are just a smidge warmer too. Daytime highs are going to warm up into the 50s and 60s. Heading into this weekends forecast. Near San Francisco. If you were thinking of heading over to bottle rock, well, were expecting the 70s and 60s all weekend long with sunnier skies as we head into our sunday forecast. Theres a lot going on for us here in the bay area as we head into this weekend. But by early next week, memorial day is looking really nice actually. We jump just about ten degrees in the positive direction. Upper 70s early next week and the raise return into the bay area too but thats our inland areas. Were not going to see inland not going to see coastal areas hit the 80s nestly. For now cloudy skies along the way all weekend long so if you are visiting in from out of town, and you notice you can see half the Golden Gate Bridge, but you cant see the whole thing, my apologies just give it a couple of hours and usually that marine layer kind of floats back and forth. Well have more on that in a bit. For now over to you, g. Jessica thank you. I have a live look at conditions as you go from highway 4 getting on the freeways there making that ride antioch pittsburg bay point. Not a lot of brake lights or issues which is great. Friday light for the most part. On some of the major freeways and bridges and a little crowded across the upper deck here at the bay bridge. Thats because there was a bit of a hotspot earlier on broken down vehicle there. Bay bridge toll plaza though you can see metering lights are officially on. And its starting to slow down just a little bit. But it is a friday. Right now things are pretty quiet and its later on today where you are really going to see things get busy. Because memorial day weekend is here so this is considered a get away friday. Our bay area bridges like the san mateo bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge, the bay bridge, will be very busy for people getting out of town and on those get away routes especially. Like 80 eastbound as well as 580 eastbound and you are taking 101 maybe over towards into marin or north of there or maybe you are taking that 101 drive over towards 152 down towards gilroy. So that certainly is going to see some extra busy conditions between 11 00 and 6 00 so try to travel before or later tonight. Right now though, things are looking pretty good out there. Look at him i go zach . And he was like you going to london coach . We will go to london. A Bay Area Team get ready to jump a pond for forks and charitable work. We celebrate their score. Reporter coach justin is in his 11th year as a head coach for the de la salle Football Team. This program has gone to countless state and national championships. But london . It all came about thanks to a former player who now works for nike. I look at him and i go zach . [ laughter ] and he was like you go to london coach . Im like we will go. Reporter it took months to clear the idea through proper channels, but when the announcement was finally made, some players didnt know how to react. Its just shocked and i i was i was in disbelief when they said it. It was hard for me to like have any reaction. I was just shocked. I just think its just exciting more than anything. Being able to play a team acrosscountry is just different. Different opportunity and all the guys from last year were all jealous were going this this year. Reporter the team will be playing allstars from mainly europe. They will do charitable Work Together and play football. But some of the players had to learn an important lesson before they even get ready for london. I told them we were going and i quizzed about half of them and im like point to london on a map. They were like i could point at england but not quite pinpoint london. Reporter do you know where. I did not. He asked me at practice one day and i had to search it up. I searched it coach and i told him. Reporter a Football Team had fans on campus already but the fan base has grown since the announcement. My teacher here on campus and im walking through the hallways and all the teachers like hey you need an extra chaperone . Which is neat you know. Reporter the team is trying to treat the game like any other by preparing to play on the international stage. They do know there will be some hurdles to conquer. Im sure london will throw things off and were going to have to deal with multiple time changes and being own you know long flight over and long night back. Adjust to getting over and getting back and whatever. [ laughter ] well, the team will play at tottenham hot spurs stadium in london october 8th and get this. Nike pays for the trip. Ted lasso. Will be there with his fancy i just know it. Hanging without the little cookies. Yeah. I mean, how cool though the trip is getting paid for too by a sponsor. Thats probably a big relief for a lot of parents. Kiddos deserve it. Good for them. Good luck. Time right now 6 26. Tens of millions of americans leaving town for the holiday weekend. I am going to chat with cbs news Senior Transportation correspondent kris van cleave. Plus taking a live look from oakland and a big story. Graduation gunfire. Heres what we know this morning. Oakland Police Say Two people were treated at the scene and taken to an area hospital. Oakland fire says a third victim selftransported to a nearby hospital. We also learned two people have been detained in this. The shooting happened indoors as people gathered to celebrate sending lot of people running. Just after 7 45 last night. Were working to find out the motive and the identities of those hurt and those detained. Developing story obviously and it will be a big part of our Coverage Today on graduation season. Stay with us for all the latest updates on kpix. Com or streamingon the cbs news app. Well, expect some big crowds at airports with travel kicking into high gear for memorial day weekend and you can see right here this is the flight aware map showing all of the planes in the air at this very moment. That is a lot of planes right now. And right now aaa is estimating more than 3. 35 Million People will be flying for the holiday weekend. And were not just helping you get prepared for the sky but also on the roadways as well. So cbs news Senior Transportation correspondent kris van cleave literally on road right now joining us this morning. We checked in with you about an hour ago. How has hows traffic been so far . Where are you now . Reporter traffic we are on 95. Were north of richmond. Heading towards washington. Were moving pretty well. Were on the freeway speeds. Other direction little bit slower but were starting to get some rain. Thats always something that will slow you don on the roads but so far, so good for us. Aaa had said they expected starting at noon today through about 7 00 p. M. You would see the holiday traffic really start to max out as it mixes with folks heading home at the end of the week as well. So were hoping to be off the roads well before that happens today. But so far, so good and the airports, gianna, we know are superbusy. They nearly set record yesterday and alltime high. Screening just shy of 2. 9 Million People. It was up about 8 from last year. Wow. Thats a big difference. Considering where were just sort of growing and even pandemic levels. Airports could be the most crowded in nearly two decades. So you went inside the faa control center. What did you see . Reporter yeah, so this is the command center for the faa. Think of it as like a Rapid Response center almost on a weekend like this. Where they are watching the skies and they are watching the airports and theyre watching whats going on with weather. And they can respond to what theyre seeing. Right now i guarantee you theyre watching this line of thunderstorms thats moving through the midwest because it could barrel through several cities with major airport hubs. Chicago, detroit, minneapolis. And it may also if it misses the hub airports it may block the freeway and the sky if you will that the planes take going acrosscountry. So they will on the fly there, reroute the aircraft as best they can to avoid the weather. And keep people moving. If they have to slow traffic, they will make that decision there as well. You will hear from the faa about what theyre thinking going into this weekend. King of one the biggest things you have to Pay Attention to. Its nice leer if the bay but its certainly affect other parts of the country. You are on road and i have to ask uhuh got some travel tips and what snacks did you pack, more importantly. Reporter well, you know, we just just stopped for some snacks and we got some trail mix going here. You went healthy. Reporter photographer has some trail mix going on here that i just borrowed i should say. I think travel tips best thing you can do just give yourself extra time particularly at the airports you know, sfo expects today to be its busiest. So theres going to be more people going into airports and more people in the checkpoint lines. Its just going to take a little bit longer and give yourself the extra time. And has as the traffic gets bad. Heading up to napa for example, give yourself the extra time so you are not worrying about it. We say that all the time and of course bottle rock happening in napa as well. How nice of the photographer to share the snacks so say thank you from us too. Thanks. Absolutely. Tony, thank you for your snacks. [ laughter ] hi tony. Hi. Thank you so much. We appreciate you guys. All right, lets take a look at traffic right now. It going to be quite busy out there for Memorial Day Travel. Really today is that get away friday. So a little closer to home if you are making that ride on some of the freeways and bay area bridges, like 101, 580, 680, i5, crunch time starts at about 11 00 and extending all the way into those evening hours. Friday and monday. So my recommendation to leave early before 11 00 or after 6 00 if you can today on monday the busiest times will be before between 3 00 and 6 00. So definitely kind of get a jumpstart on that if you can and taking a look at the bay bridge toll plaza you can see metering lights are on. Its not too bad right now. Its actually moving along april wet there. Not seeing any delays going to any of the local airports on the roadways so dropping someone off this morning, or maybe heading there and going to park the car, right now so 101 is clear and 880 as well as 87 in the south bay and thats the Golden Gate Bridge there and heres the san mateo bridge which is moving along pretty well. He has a tony helping him and we have a brian and a chase helping us. And by the way well take pizza both of you. So you know. Live look outside this morning. And check that out. You cannot paint a prettierpicture. The tank america there tower sunlight and old glory flying getting into the weekend. We are mindful were going into the memorial day weekend. We pay tribute to the people this weekend. Not only for celebrating but also Atmospheric River as well. We count new our gratitude for being servant of the country. Really appreciate that. Thank you, reed. And as we head into the next couple of days thats a good reminder too. Monday is right around the corner for us. Luckily if you are doing any memorial day events the weather is going to be beautiful by monday. We have to get through couple of cool days first. Today and tomorrow. And these clouds, they are so inconsistent and its beautiful at the Golden Gate Bridge. Its still cloudy and certain pockets over into the east bay. Were going to continue to see partly cloudy skies throughout the next couple of days. They are making that their return and so is the cool weather. We kicked off this week with 70s . San Francisco Examiner 80s off in the east bay. Today, were all sitting in the steeds or 50s and its cool for us today and a repeat tomorrow and then we see that gradual warmup heading into the sunday forecast. Now as we take a look at current conditions, were sitting in the 50s all throughout the east bay. 40s up in the north bay and San Francisco off to cool start and a breezy start along the coastline too. Wind speeds anywhere up to around 40 Miles Per Hour expected today along the coastline. Thats closer to around dinner time though so keep that in mind. The more late we go in the afternoon the gustier it gets all throughout the bay. But specifically our coastline and weve been dealing that for the past couple of days. Areas like bodega bay and point arenas and Stinson Beach Goodness Gracious wind speeds just been very consistent. Down just close to the clothesline. Indiansen not nearly as bad and i already said it were in the 60s with the exception of the peninsula. Even cooler in the 50s today. From halfmoon bay all the way over into San Francisco. Ill have more on your memorial day weekend forecast in just a bit. For now over to you, reed. All right thank you so much. This morning we are working to learn more after San Francisco police fired what they call less lethal force at a suspect reportedly seen carrying a rifle through the bay view district. That happened just after 3 00 yesterday. As Police Rushed to jennings street and donner avenue, police say the person wasnt hit by gunfire but wont elaborate. Used to subdue the man.
