Its game seven and i hope at the end of the game i look at my stats and i hope i did well when i see the photos come out. Did you see it . Stars blooming in their met moment. A local star making good as we break down gala glam on a tuesday. Lets do this. Bay area. Oh my gosh, good morning. Im Gianna Franco and it was so colorful. Watching all the pictures from the met gala. I got to say some people brought it and some people were just kind of meh. Okay. Were going to break down all the met gala fashions and weve got some exciting news. Oakland listen up. We have got some ballers excitement this morning, its going to be a great announcement and a great day. Its tuesday everybody and lets go live outside on this tuesday morning. And see what Mother Nature is serving up. Right now, i can hear people snoring out there but pretty soon alarm clocks will be going off and dogs will be saying take me out for my first walk. Good morning, jess. Oh, chopper gets his 3 00 a. M. Walk and he is so grumpy every single day. But you know somewhat . For all the dogs who get to sleep in this morning compared to mine lets take a quick look at the forecast. Heading out the door this morning temperatures are going to be a lot more normal and what i mean by that is were actually experiencing a big warmup as we head into this week. But today were kind of capping off right where we should be for our daytime highs. Were going to see the offshore winds develop in the afternoon hours tomorrow. Lasting into thursday and friday as well and to add to that that warming trend is going to last until we head into friday with a moderate heat risk in the inland areas. Before we get to what we can expect later this week, lets take a look at what we can expect today. 70s returning into the bay area all throughout north bay from santa rosa down to petaluma and novato as well. San francisco, topping off at 66 degrees and upper 60s near redwood city and upper 50s near halfmoon bay. With a lot breezier and cooler conditions all throughout our coastline. Now once we head into the inland areas, livermore, san jose for example, low 70s are in the forecast for us today. But lets drop these temperatures real fast and i want to show you what its going to look like for us as we head into the next couple of days. We have a big warming trend in the forecast for us as High Pressure develops from offshore and thats going to get us all the way up into the upper 70s in areas like San Francisco where our average right now is usually around 64 degrees. And thats actually going to warm us close to the 90s in our inland areas and if not actually passing the 90s back in the east bay. But down into the Santa Clara Valley this week, were going to hit the upper 80s and were actually going to hold on tight to them too. This is thursdays forecast. All the way into saturday. We kind of average out into the 70s once we head into monday. But more High Pressure will build its way in keeping us a little bit above average heading into next week. So were going to talk more about why thats happening coming up in just a bit. For now over to you, g. Good morning and lets talk about the roadways right now. Off to a good start. Very quiet. Live look here at the bay area bridges. The Golden Gate Bridge first and you can see its not a bad commute at all this morning. That helps ease congestion. Rod work as well and as far as any construction projects, nothing really causing any delays or issues. Over at the bay bridge toll plaza, metering lights are off. And traffic is pretty smooth heading into the city. And if you are crossing the bay via the san mateo bridge, right now were Holding Steady with no delays and a quick 14 minutes between 880 and 101. So a very quiet commute there. Even the nimitz itself near the coliseum on 880 actually is moving pretty well. No delays southbound heading into hayward. Just yet. We usually see things getting crowded through there in that 6 00 hour. So well let you know when that happens. Reed . All right, g. Lets go to the middle east now where israeli strikes to root out hamas in rafah have begun. They voted unanimously to continue its campaign in rafah after dropping leaflets with warnings for citizens to evacuate. Video this morning showing explosions in rafah as the news reports israel has captured the gaza side of the rafah border crossing. Following targeted air strikes against hamas targets now tanks roll in. So egyptian Officials Say the operations appear limited in scope this morning although we understand there are casualties on both sides. Now this comes after what was really a confusing set of headlines yesterday. Hamas and you probably read this, released a statement announcing they agreed to a ceasefire brokered by egyptians. And people cheered in the streets. Well, that was news to israeli officials who said what hamas agreed to and what they demand is pretty big like theres a big chasm between understandings there. There was reaction on two sides of the war lines and in palestine we saw the cheers. Hearing of the agreement. In israel, families of hostages rallied outside these meetings saying accept the ceasefire terms where family members can go. It would include swapping israeli hostages for palestinians in israeli jails and would allow displaced gazans to return home with no restrictions. In the end no deal. Fighting continues this morning as israel sends a delegation to egypt for more talks today andwell be watching that one throughout the day. Theres really a war of words in the bay area but in the war of words also word of negotiations between protesters and San Francisco State University officials in response to thats going on. Cur kelsi thorud reports now the School Administration sees hope in meeting with protesters and having dialogue facetoface. San Francisco State university president. Reporter sitting facetoface, just feet apart, surrounded by students, faculty and media. Pro palestinian student protesters who set up the encampment in the middle of San Francisco State Universitys campus laid it their demand to sfsu president lynn mahoney. We are students, we are faculty, and we are staff demanding for the csu and sf State University to divest from all companies and partnerships which actively participate in the colonization and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian People. Reporter the students here at sf state like so many other student protesters across the country are demanding the university not only divest from companies that do business with israel, they also want to university to disclose all of its investments. And also defend the rights of pro palestinian speech on campus and declare their support for the Palestinian People in gaza. Just as mahoney and sfu praises 1968 Global Strike and defend our right to protest, speech and assembly. Reporter president mahoney promised to work with student protesters. Hammer out exactly what it would look like. Reporter saying she was willing to meet with representatives as soon as possible and work with them to meet some of these demand. We can have two conversations. One is about what full transparency would look like and how we can make it clear to anybody who wants to see how San Francisco state invests its fund and how it spends it. But the second is to take another look at that investment policy. Reporter in the end, president mahoney and the student protesters left the conversation to be continued. Both sides seemed happy with that result. Appreciative of my students willing to have a conversation. Whats the next steps with this . Im going to continue the conversation with them. I feel very confident that she has appeared to be very open to our conversations and moving forward, with the majority of our demands. And were looking forward to continuing to have these conversations and looks like were going to be making very steadfast progress into the implementation. All right, well, we are getting word of graduation being canceled across the country. We are watching closely to see how any bay area colleges or University Graduations could be affected. Let take a live look outside on this tuesday morning. Were going to take a peek from our Salesforce Tower cam and you can see its still pretty dark outside and i love the fact you can at least see the ferris wheel and maybe that will inspire people to get out and about a little bit later on today. So jess, if they are going to venture out, walk the dog, maybe go take a ride and take a walk along the embarcadero. Is it going to be nice weather . Beautiful weather today. But you know, daybyday its only going to get warmer here in the bay area. Whats happening is we have High Pressure moving in from offshore. So were going to see a really big change in the forecast for us if you live in our inland areas and anywhere from the Santa Clara Valley stretching all the way up into the east bay and wine country too. If you live along the coast and the peninsula, you are spared a little bit from all the heat that were talking about but its still going to be above average no matter where you live. So today were just seeing clouds pass through the bay area, we start to clear up fast. Advancing the clock into the thursday and wednesday setup its clear as can be. Sunshine felt widespread throughout the bay area and its going to be gustier this week too. Right now we still have a mix of on and offshore winds demending where you live. This is this morning alone. Stretching all the way into the lunchtime hours. Mostly winds coming in from the north around 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour along our coastline getting a little bit gustier in the inland areas as we head into our dinner time hours. But other than that big weather story for us and we talked about it earlier is the above average temperatures. Todays average is around 72 degrees in san jose. Were sitting at 73. So right where we should be for this time of year. Heading into the roast of this week, well. I cant say that the case. One more time as what we can expect through the bay area. Were expecting upper 60s this afternoon near San Francisco. To answer her question, yes, today is a Beautiful Day to walk the dog. Take them around the park a couple of times. Once we head off into the east bay same trend. And we can manage 70s just fine. This is where we should be but that system is moving in and its moving in hot. Literally and figuratively. Lets take a quick look what that means for us taking a look at and the next seven days. All of the inland areas are going to warm up. Upper 80s in the forecast for us thursday and friday. Concord and antioch, theres a chance we could see 90s not in the forecast for us. Early next week a partly cloudy sky setup river into the bay area but other than that its going to be a beautiful one for us along the coastline. Because that means were only topping off mostly in the upper 60s and lower 70s and closer to the bay though we will see a return of the 80s near San Francisco and oakland. Then stretching into next week we average out back in the 60s into mondays forecast. More on that in a bit. For now over to you, g. All right, thank you. Lets talk about the roadways right now. And hey, off to a good start as well. So if you are getting an early start to your day you are good to go on most of the major freeways. Westbound 80, 101 both directions. Not a bad ride there. And if you are making your way out of the south bay things are pretty quiet there as well. Traffic else where headed out of the Altamont Pass area working your way westbound 580 heading over into that livermore area. It is getting a little bit busy there this morning down to about 9 Miles Per Hour in some spots. So thats where we are starting to see some brake lights for supercommuters making that ride out of tracy and look at these travel times. Thats the only spot right now where were tracking really any major delays. But thats pretty typical for a tuesday morning. So good morning to all of you making that trek hopefully you have something good to listen to on the radio when you hop in the car. 46 minutes, 205 to 680. Highway 1, 101 all clear as is the bay bridge. No metering lights and thats a pretty smooth ride over into San Francisco this morning. You can see the bay bridge down below. Connecting all the way into oakland this morning. Hey, jess, hows the forecast going to be . Because yesterday was beautiful along the coast. No complaints at all and i got out and about and im hoping for the same today. Good, more of the same exactly today. But heading into the next couple of days you are going to notice its a lot warmer and a lot drier in the inland areas lininto the rest of this weeks forecast. If you live along the coast warmup too but not nearly as much as some of the friends that live in antioch and concord stretching down into the Santa Clara Valley. Were back to normal today. What does that mean . Just show you real fast. The daytime highs today are sitting in the 70s up in the wine country. 74 today near napa and 69 in oakland and then we return into the 70s all the way off into the east bay near antioch. Stretching down close to san jose and all the way into los gatos actually in the 70s as well. Upper 60s near redwood city and upper 50s near halfmoon bay. So now that you can kind of see that pick cow of what normal is, lets talk about what is happening around the corner because for many of us, we are going to warm up and dry up a lot to the point where relative humidity drops down to around 10 in certain communities. Well get to that in just a minute. And also see offshore wind develop this week so winds moving in from the Sacramento Valley usually a lot drier air moving its way offshore. To add to that were going to continue to warm up all week with a moderate heat risk in our inland areas as early as thursday heading into our friday forecast. So lets talk about some pros and cons to this forecast. First things first i mentioned daytime highs daytime highs are really going to start to rise. But also to add to that relative humidity is going to drop. Into wednesday afternoon for example close to 10 relative humidity near healdsburg and a similar trend in the inland areas and we continue to dry up in the rest of this week. But on the bright side, at least were sitting well above average for our rainfall versus average for the season so far. I mean were sitting over 100 anywhere from santa rosa down into san jose. So its been a really healthy season for us here in the bay area. Which is a good thing. But this is our first little mini heat wave were preparing for. For now over to you, g. Jess, thank you. Taking a look at the roadways right now, now is good time to go to the bay bridge. No issues as far as delays and no metering lights either. And in fact pretty quiet so far heading into San Francisco. We know that changes once those metering lights go on. And that will likely be within the next 10 to 15 minutes. If you are headed from there over into the city, you can see all that green popping up on our sensors which means you are moving up to speed. Now heres our hotspots and headlines right now are slow rides into the Altamont Pass this morning. Theres a wind advisory in effect for that area as well. And weve got some brake lights, we are tracking south 680 as you head into the sunol grade. All right, g, thank you so much. The criminal trial against donald trump now focuses on what is on paper. So Engineering Team has evaluated the vehicle is not in a configuration where we can proceed with flight today. The video you saw a moment ago of it taking off was another launch altogether. We just want to make that clear. Two nasa astronauts strapped themselves in for this particular flight. If its a quick fix boeing give it another go later today. Its been one year since antioch launched their First Mental Health Crisis Response team. City leaders say it has contributed to a year without any in custody deaths. Our john ramos has the details. Reporter its been exactly one year since the city of antioch launched its team and while it may be difficult to measure success on Something Like this, the numbers are looking good. And the most important data point may be the number zero. Three, two, one. Reporter zero. Thats how many people have died while in Police Custody since the Community Response team was created. And mayor lamar hernandezthorpe says thats exactly the result he was hoping for. The first month of my time as mayor of the city of antioch i had an incustody death that led to this. A month after that, we had another incustody death. And so if we havent had in custody death since we launched this and thats a market of success for me. Reporter to mark the anniversary the mayor rode along with team. Their first stop was a strip mall the crew says generates multiple responses per day. Program manager nick jenkins says most of the calls are about nuisances created by Homeless People in the area. All we do is address the situation, hey guys can you turn the music down and can you move along and its either a yes or no. Reporter a Business Owner named todayny approached to complain about the lack of response from police and the meager size of the crisis team. You people cannot solve this problem for three people cant solve this. You need more bodies. You need help. I need help. You need help. He needs help. Reporter one of the purposes of the program is to relieve police of nonemergency responses and the mayor says thats another area of success. Already the team is taking 500 calls per month freeing up officers to attend to more serious matters. Initially, we didnt know if these 911 calls would come be coming in readily. But to our surprise, were getting and theyre starting to increase. So maybe to that degree, but we know there was a need. But with the our relationship with dispatch is extremely important. And again, 500 calls a month is is pretty good. And i expect that to increase. Reporter and now the police are the ones calling in the crisis unit on this day they asked for help on railroad avenue where they were trying to get a group of homeless campers to leave. Were trying to do everything we can to get them to vacate. Reporter so the team first approached the campers just to talk. And later offered them water and snacks. The idea is to act as a go between. Calming situations down to prevent a more aggressive reaction from either the subjects or the police. They rely on us, the pd, as much as we rely on them. Its a support issue. Everywhere. Reporter its been a good working relationship. Yes, its a great working relationship with the pd. Reporter the mayor believes the program is working. But the initial 1 million of funding a grant from the federal government is running out. Funding is going to have to come from somewhere to keep it going. And if it means we have to restructure the budget, well do that. Reporter he says for now he intends to ask the city council to allocate the money to continue and expand the response team. In order to prevent a crisis from becoming a tragedy. Well, the antiochs Community Response team is named after the man who was killed after police were called in for his Mental Health crisis. Just changed right there on the screen. So also the changes come with the sunrise. Good morning, everybody. And embracing change this morning and we bring in jessica burch. Good morning, jess, i have a request. I know you have a direct line to Mother Nature. Yeah, lets hear it. I want the wind where i live gone. Capital g. No pressure. Can i call them like next week . Because i think their like line is a little busy right now. Honestly a little bit gusty for us in the next couple of days. Heres whats happening High Pressure is moving in and were going to have a big warmup this week and offshore winds are becoming a lot more apparent. So relative humidity is going to drop. Were going to see windy conditions moving to the coastline. Also going to be seeing daytime highs actually topping off close to the 90s in some of the inland areas. But lets start off in our inland areas, this is our live look over the Santa Clara Valley as we wake up this morning. All below me you can see the Santa Clara Valley. On the Virtual Reality map. Kind of showing a picture of what we can expect as we head into this afternoon. For example, were expecting 70s near san jose. Upper 60s near redwood city and lets continue to head north along 101 now into San Francisco. 66 degrees this afternoon and 70s up in the north bay. Just painting the picture of what we can expect today but we have bigger changes right around the corner for us. Now this is what its looking like for us this morning. Winds anywhere up to around 15, 20 Miles Per Hour along the coastline near bodega bay. Gets gustier winds sweeping from the north this afternoon. All throughout our coastline all throughout our inland areas, in the evening hours now closer to 6 00 a very similar trend. Anywhere up to around 30mileperhour winds are expected near halfmoon bay. Now the other thing i want to mention too. Not a drop of rain in sight as we head into this week. Thats what High Pressure does for us. On the bright side the rainfall versus average is still showing well above average near the coastline and close to santa rosa and all the way down into san jose. So when we look at the next seven days. And we see how big of warmup were expecting and how theres not a drop of rain in sight, its not too alarming and weve had very impressive rain season so far so were holding on tight to in the time being. This week the big concern for us could be a minor heat risk in areas all throughout the inland areas, for example. Thursday and fridays forecast showing sunny skies and daytime highs sitting close to the 90s. And then luckily we start to average out as we head into next week but if you live closer to San Francisco, berkeley, oakland bay shoreline we will also warm up but only in the 80s and then luckily we start to cool down fast next week back into the 60s as soon as monday. For now over to you, g. Jessica, thank you. Lets talk about the roadways right now. Because were getting some busy conditions here is a live look at the bay bridge. And look at that backup starting to build for that ride into the city. Those metering lights now are officially on and slow and go at least from that if overpass. And looks like westbound 80 starting the kind of fill that crunch as you work out of emeryville getting to the bridge. Just a headsup there. The other hotspots a couple of tings going on here. Altamont pass this morning, yes, its the usual slow and go conditions. No crashes. But there was a wind advisory issued by chp overnight and getting word its still pretty windy through there. Just be extra cautious traveling in one of larger more highprofile vehicles. Now pass that point if you are riding through the dublin interchange, connecting on to 680 southbound, that is slow heading into pleasanton. So was 8. So either way if you are headeinto the sunol grade. Brake lights there and over on 80 westbound highway 4 to the maze, only 18 minutes. So most of the freeways are doing okay. With the exception of 580 and 680. Our bridges are pretty quiet though. So that helps. Reed . Time right now 5 52. You know, nobody should celebrate a birthday alone.
