We will look at this a couple ways. Look at the north bay valleys. Dense fog advisory is until 10 00 a. M. Its not so say you will not notice clouds where you are. If we look at the virtual map and we can superimpose on top of that what the clouds and fog look like, i can do one better. I will bring in the visibility readings. This is where we will nail down to specific parts of the bay. The numbers are telling you how far you can see in miles. In San Francisco, ten miles. Napa, same story. Look at santa rosa and petaluma. Where it says. 25 you can only see a quarter mile down the road. Thats where you want to give yourself extra time. Everybody else is okay. If we wanted to just come away with maybe an understanding why is santa rosa picked on so much with the fog, i will lose the numbers and the fog and bring in another set of numbers which shows you the rainfall yesterday. You had a half inch of rainfall in santa rosa. Ground is kind of soggy. Ground is cold. Thats a recipe for fog. Some places didnt get anything measurable yesterday. You see what the numbers look like. 16 hundredths for most of the bay except the north bay. The fog advisory is until 10 00 tonight. Then we will look at the warmest day in the sevenday forecast today. I will show you those numbers in the complete forecast. Expect to feel ten degrees warmer today with plenty sunshine for parts of the bay. How is the drive . A drove in a lot of that yesterday from monterey. If you are ready to head out and make your way into San Francisco, look at the people doing the same thing with you. Its already busy and metering lights were turned on about 30 minutes ago. As darren mentioned in the north bay, you might see fog this morning. Be extra careful as you head in. All clear out of the south bay, 87 open both directions. Now the east bay where four teens were shot at a party. One died. The other three are in the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. Witnesses say it happened in front of a home on shannon way around 11 00 when a group of 20 to 30 people were denied entry to the party. They got in through the side yard. That led to arguments and shortly after, gunfire. Two of the victims fell to the ground and police found the other two hiding a few doors down at the end of a cul de sac. It might be hard to see but Surveillance Footage shows chaotic aftermath with people screaming and yelling, neighbors running to the scene to help the victims. Israel defense launched air strikes on more than 32 targets along the gaza strip. Thats not the only flash point. At the border with lebanon israels military trying to keep back, hezbollah at a simmer about you it is hot enough. Americans should not travel. You have to give yourself extra time on the roads. Visibility is down to a quarter mile as we saw. Once we are past that, fog is gone and crowds are gone. Under all the sunshine today is the warmest in the sevenday forecast. Lets use our virtual map to show how thats going to play out. The first thing is we will bring in the daytime highs. Before i show you how much warmer these numbers are than yesterday. South bay, mid 70s. 78 livermore, Red Wood City 75. Lets take the walk north and as we pass San Francisco, a classic october day at 70. Look at the north bay valleys. This is where we are going to feel this. You are going to 80 in santa rosa. To show you how much warmer that is than yesterday, i will lose the daytime highs. You will be 11 degrees warmer there, 10 degrees warmer in novato, 14 degrees warmer. Everybody gets a warm up. With the sunshine and increase, today is the day you notice the improvement. Lets get into the more interesting aspect of whats coming our way over the next couple days. This is the warmest day in the sevenday forecast for good reason. Here comes the next system from the north. By wednesday, were starting to import more cool air from the gulf of alaska. We will cool down again. That might look like rain. We are looking at wednesday. When we go to the long range forecast, look at the line of showers. One glance and you would say oh maybe there is more rain. Watch what happens. Falls apart. It goes too far inland. We are not going to get the rain from that. We probably wont get rain from the next one either on friday. Watch that fall apart as it gets here. The take away is two systems for second half of the week trying to get in will bring temperatures down and increase clouds. When we look at the numbers for inland east bay, well see this play out. You have your warmest days here near 80. Then you will spend most of the second half of the week certainly thursday and friday and next weekend in the mid 60s. We have clouds friday if you want to be technical, a 10 chance of rain. Its not enough of a degree of confidence that we are putting rain in the forecast yet. If you have been going along with us on these forecasts for the last five weeks each one has usually looked better as we have gotten closer. If you have big outdoors plans friday, stay with us. Thats the first thing we will talk about, our pledge in the first alert forecast, to give the early heads up. Friday we might be adjusting that 10 chance. The town lifted the boil water order yesterday afternoon. That notice had been in place since friday after e coli was found in the water system. Tests done saturday and friday came back negative. This is focused there through sonoma and napa. We can visualize what this looks like on the map and i can bring in the layer of what the satellite is depicting on fog. We saw mid clouds showing up over san jose in that camera nicole was sharing. That wasnt a problem. It wasnt fog there. A lot of this is harmless cloud except for up in the north bay. There is a way we can pull out where trouble spots are. In addition to visualizing where clouds are and what the fog looks like, we can put numbers on the map that show you what visibility readings are for that part of the bay. When we do that, get a close up look at the north bay because those numbers stand out. Santa rosa,. 25. Thats telling you you can only see a quarter mile down the road way. Petaluma is a little better. For the most part visibility is okay with the exception of that location. It makes sense in one way of thinking because that was where we had the most rain. We picked up a half inch of rain in santa rosa yesterday, and that was way more than we got for most of the rest of the bay. Most places here are looking at a tenth to maybe. 015 of an inch of rain. Once a dense fog advisory is allowed to expire, it will be more sunshine than anything else. Some of us are 10 to 14 degrees warmer than yesterday. Its not lasting though. More on that in a bit. We are getting busy especially in hot spots like the bay bridge. Metering lights are on. Look at the back up building already to the foot of the maze. Its always busy around this time on a weekday. Ftes were shot at a party in oakley on shannon way. One of the teens died. The other three went to the hospital. Shawn chitnis is live at Liberty High School, the school that the 16yearold who died attended. Theyre preparing to support students and staff still processing the loss. Good morning. This is a difficult monday morning for these teens and families. Reporter it is a horrible way to start a new week. Leaders will try to do what they can by having counselors on campus to support students and staff who are going to be struggling with such a difficult development from over the weekend. We want to show you some video that gives a little insight into what was happening in the moments after this shooting. Again the shooting happened in oakley on saturday night. The video we are seeing is capturing the chaos moments after people can be heard screaming and someone see running to help the victims. That is a neighbor who told kpix he found the boys on the ground with gun shot wounds as soon as he got to that side of the street. I heard somebody say they were shot and ran out of the house, grabbed a tourniquet. I happened to see the other kid pass away. I was literally there as he was taking his last breath. It was surreal. Reporter principal of Liberty High School sent a message to the community saying in part we know a traumatic event like this can send shock waves through a community. To help during the trying time, we have set up our library as a place for students and staff who need support to talk with counseling staff. Oakley police have said this is a very unusual shooting, doesnt happen like this, situations like this in the community. So they are making it top priority to have an arrest in the case. Nicole. Thank you so much. Another tense situation on campus, Petaluma High School alerted to alleged threats made against students at the school. Investigators say threats were found writn on a bathroom wall. It named specific students and listed today as the day that the threats would be carried out. Police say they will have an increased presence on campus. Theyve identified numerous persons of interest around are conducting interviews with students and parents to try to find out more. Critical primary election is underway for citizens of venezuela. Millions are heading to the polls. The government has agreed to move to free and Fair Elections allowing opposition to choose a candidate for next years election.
