The scene with what we know so far. Wilson. Reporter we really have learned absolutely nothing since we talked to you at 5 00. As you mentioned, a car crashes here at the consulate followed by a shooting. We really dont know much more. San Francisco Police put out a press release describing this as an officerinvolved shooting. Just being really specific about what they said here, they do not specifically describe it as an sfpd officer. Is that just the wording that they chose or are they signaling this was some different type of officer involved in this shooting . We do not yet know. All we know is there was a car crash, a shooting here at the geary side of the building, the laguna entrance on the other side, no damage or scene of any activity. The incident appears to have happened on the geary side, the Public Service kind of entrance to this building, i think where youd show up if you were looking for some business with the consulate, a visa issue or something. That is where this happened. Were awaiting a press briefing from san Francisco Police. In the last hour the entire command staff of the department has shown up. The chief and assistant chief are here. There are any number of people from other agencies who i cant quite identify, but a lot of people here discussing what has gone on. We will bring you more information as we get it. Thank you. Ever since that first surprise attack by hamas friday, supporters of israel have come out in full force not just here in the bay area, but all over the world. San francisco has one of the largest jewish communities in the country. It also has a very large israeli contingency because of israels dominance in the tech world. Reporter the accounts of kidnappings, rapes and torture committed by hamas against innocent civilians have been devastating, even for israelis who are sadly used to wars. A lot of us have been through all kinds of difficult things in israel and people are quite resilient, but this does feel like something on a completely different level. Reporter the continuations in the middle east already rippling through the bay area where pro palestinian and pro israeli protesters held demonstrations over the weekend. This is completely and utterly devastating. Reporter senator scott wiener, who is jewish, says the rhetoric coming from antiisrael activists has put the Jewish Community here on high alert. How worried are you about the safety of the Jewish Community here in San Francisco following this attack . Im concerned. We have seen a significant increase in antisemitic attacks, including antisemitic violence. The rhetoric we see helps to fuel those threats and that violence. Reporter at the end of her class, hadara checks her phone once more and thankfully gets a little good news. Her cousin fighting in the Israeli Military is alive and well. He looks very tired, but he seems to be okay. So thats a big relief. Reporter hoping for a just resolution to a devastating war while praying her loved ones are safe and sound. Today marks a holiday in transition as many across the nation are celebrating Indigenous Peoples day. More than a dozen states recognized the holiday in lieu of columbus day. [ singing in a global language ] there was a celebration at San Franciscos yerba buena gardens. Different indigenous groups from the bay area and other states performed traditional dances. There were vendors selling Handmade Jewelry and art. We continue with feeling and practice of cultural sharing of Indigenous Peoples from really many countries are here to share their culture, song, dances, drumming, but also our world view about harmony with the mother earth, peace and friendship with each other. It was two years ago when President Biden became the first u. S. President to formally commemorate Indigenous Peoples day, though its not yet a federal holiday. Proceeds will go to bringing live professional music via zoom into hospitals and homes like howies free of charge. We got a theme here speaking of music, its always a fun way to cap off fleet week and the winner of this Years High School battle of the bands pulled it off on their first talk about quite a cooldown and we were warned, paul heggen joining us now with the latest on our forecast. Feels kind of good after the stretch of hot weather hate last week. Hard to believe we had upper 80s and low to mid90s a couple days ago, whole different story today. Another batch of light showers will revive late tomorrow, kind of a second layer of cooler air and we dry thing out, warm it up beginning wednesday, but especially thursday and friday, occasionally breezy as we head through the latter half of the week. Lets look at first alert doppler. What youre seeing on the radar loop, a lot of its evaporating before it hit the ground. The rain that is hitting the ground, had a light shower that rolled through about half an hour ago in San Francisco, has been flying underneath the radar beam. What were seeing on the radar isnt hitting. What youre not seeing on the radar is. Its damp either way. Showers will be more miss than hit the rest of tonight. We have the next round of showers late in the day tomorrow after we start with a mix of clouds and sunshine early tuesday morning. The showers will approach the coast as we head towards about midday moving into the north bay tuesday afternoon across the rest of the bay area through tuesday evening, but as they move farther inland, they are going to fall apart, very similar to the activity today and at most, i think youll be talking about maybe a few hundredths inch of rainfall, futurecast not overly optimistic about adding any significant amount of rain, but in early october every drop counts. Every drop added to our fire fuels helps mitigate that fire threat to at least some extent, especially when were facing gustier winds later this week. Rain chances farther down the line are pretty low. Well see more cloud cover headed our way late friday into saturday, but maybe an outside chance of a shower by this time next week, only in the 10 to 20 range. It does look like a calm pattern over the next several days once we get past tomorrows rain chances. Theres a little moisture in the distance as it moves beyond downtown San Francisco, temperatures 60s and 70s, right now san jose the warmest spot at 74 degrees. That is cool compared to the mid90s you had most of last week. Temperatures later tonight drop to a mix of mid to upper 50s and a few low 60s. That blanket of clouds keep temperatures slightly above average for this time of year. Well try to warm up tomorrow. Our highs are a good 5 to 10 degrees below normal, low to mid70s in the santa clara valley. 74 degrees in morgan hill, the hotspot last week with a high of 98, along the coast mid60s for half moon bay, low 70s inland in the east bay. Around the bay temperatures are mostly in the upper 60s and north of the golden gate you have the best chance of rain earliest in the day. The clouds arrive a little faster. That blocks the sunshine, keeps temperatures from warming up as much as other parts of the inland bay area. Your highs only get into the upper 60s to around 70 degrees. The below average temperatures means good dog walking weather. Your Furry Friends wont mind, including the darker furred pups like lola here, big old doggie smile for 60s tomorrow, but you may have to dodge a couple afternoon and evening showers. Theres my email address if you want to share your october pictures with us, dogs in costumes time. Email that to me and well get you on the schedule later this month. The sevenday forecast does include the warmup for inland parts of the bay area. We are not going to return to the hot temperatures we had last week. We can be thankful for. That the warmest well get is the low 80s and upper 70s to near 80 degrees most of the weekend. A little more cloud cover saturday, but our rain chances really look like below 20 . Temperatures go up and down around the bay. After tomorrow mostly hovering pretty close to normal for this time of year, same thing along the coast, one of the better rain chances. Anything more than a trace would be an achievement for this kind of system. Then we dry it out. Next week temperatures stay along the coast in the 60s, which is where youre supposed to be. Thank you.
