right now on kpix 5 and streaming on cbsn bay area, looking live from the exclusive cell tower camera. you can see it right there blinking in front of the dark sky. good morning. it's tuesday, march 9. >> i'm emily turner in for michelle. and let's get a check of the weather. mary, it was slick out there when i left the house in the north bay. emily, we are looking at more wet weather ahead. we have off and on rain and a chance for isolated thunderstorms. you can see what emily is talking about for the north bay, and looking at the hour- by-hour forecast, 10:00 a.m., looking at off and on showers for today. and here we are at noon and 4:00 p.m., and we will see the rain pushing in with brief heavy downpours and gusty winds with the cold upper level low. daytime highs on the cool side anywhere from six to nine degrees below average, mid-50s in san francisco and oakland, and we're talking upper 50s for san jose and mid-50s for concord, and now, a look at traffic on this tuesday morning. taking a look at the roadways right now, altamonte pass, not bad not seeing brake lights just yet but we have a wind advisory in effect this morning so be extra careful traveling in a high-profile vehicle and you might be dealing with slick surfaces, definitely use caution. taking a look at the travel times, still in the green, and that's good news if you are getting ready to head out the door right now and no issues or delays on 80, 580, the 4 or 101 and the bay bridge toll plaza, looking good and quiet, no delay in the east bay. heading into san francisco, traffic is moving at the limit, and nice conditions no delays south 101 into san francisco. we'll be when the state will update the tier map which will be at noon. and this morning, the cdc has new guidelines and has people talking. according to the agency, people who are fully vaccinated can gather indoors with other fully vaccinated people without wearing a mask or social distancing and gather unmasked with those from a single household who are not vaccinated but at low risk. however, the cdc is asking vaccinated people to continue wearing the masks and practice social distancing in public. some say that the cdc guidance doesn't matter to them. >> you know, we can't just assume two shots and i'm good because two shots are no guarantee until we know a lot more. >> you have some chance, not zero of becoming infected even if you are vaccinated. if you are infected, you are infectious and can spread the virus. >> the cdc said that you don't have to quarantine or take a test if you have been exposed to someone positive if you don't show symptoms. in san jose, vigilantes are trying to help people book for appointments. michael brockman doesn't have a healthcare background but said he is an expert in helping book a site. he has helped two dozen people make appointments and a group called bay area vaccine hunter will help >> this is underground knowledge but the knowledge is out there to a certain extent. it's a matter of getting to it. >> it was like, hey. let's create a group, and we were wriwho would join? morning, so-called mean stocks are on the rise and a soap brand is switching it up. diane king hall has more in today's money watch report. >> reporter: stocks were mixed on monday as a slide in tech shares resumed on wall street. the dow rallied 306 points and the nasdaq fell 310 and the s&p 500 lost 20. the tech-heavy nasdaq has fallen into correction territory. it dropped more than 10 percent since hitting a record lie on february 12 as investors rotate into blue chip stocks benefiting from the recovery. so-called mean stocks are on the rise again. they expect young retail investors to put bay area. we will zoom in and you can see the lightning strikes. as we head through the day, just enough instability to fire off a few more isolated thunderstorms. well, our temperatures are in the 40s and 30s as we start off our day, another chilly start. here we are on the current sustained winds. we will see them pick up throughout the day. so cool temperatures, showers and off and on rain and an isolated thunderstorm is possible with gusty winds and small hail and snow in the sierra, and snow levels down to 3000 feet. of snow. st peaks in the we have the off and on rain today and tomorrow with the cold upper level low pressure system and as we head through the end of the week, we're looking at drier weather ahead. but active weather today and tomorrow and quieter conditions at the end of the week. taking you hour by hour on the forecast cast, scattered activities. here in the afternoon, watch the low pressure system moving in this evening, and that's when we will see the widespread rain push in. that's through tonight and still looking at scattered showers and we could see an isolated thunderst wednesday. rainfall amounts as we go through today and tomorrow picking up a quarter, half an inch to as much as an inch to an inch and a half of much- needed rainfall. it's going to be a breezy day and gusty conditions through the afternoon. snow in the sierra with the winter storm warning for the west slopes of the sierra and the winter weather advisory for the tahoe area. checking the daytime highs, looking cooler than average daytime highs to 58 in santa clara and san jose and 55 for morgan hill and 56 in concord and pleasant hill and mid-50s for the tri valley and 54 in san francisco and 56 in oakland sonoma. here is the extended forecast and wh capeas we are looking at unsettled weather today and tomorrow and drying out and more sunshine and temperatures on the rise at the end of the week. let's check in with gianna for a check on traffic on this tuesday morning. how are the roads out there? not too bad. getting busy with the usual stuff in the altamonte pass this morning and a few brake lights forming on the ride on 205 to 580, and it's windy with a wind advisory by the chp overnight. so be careful if you are traveling in a high-profile vehicle on the freeways. the advisory is specifically for the altamonte pass. checking the travel times, looking good, 29 minutes westbound 580 and no issues on highway 4. 101 is clear. the 15-minute community from hercules towards the maze. i am getting word of a broken- down vehicle on the lower deck of the bay bridge, the non- commute, blocking the road to treasure island. no delays. we'll keep an eye on that. the bay bridge toll plaza no issues from here into san francisco. the golden gate bridge looks really good. we are not seeing a lot of cars on the roadway right now and possible standing water at 101, so keep that in mind and you might encounter some wet roadways this morning. be
