Good evening, i am elizabeth cook. Sandra oconnor was there two hours ago when the District Attorney laid out the evidence. I spoke with the grandmother Stephen Taylor over the phone this afternoon. She said i know you cant see me, but can you hear me smiling . She was thrilled and relieved these charges were filed. Also, i chatted with kat brooks who is with the antipolice project. Her response was whoa, she was frankly shocked that these charges were filed. Get back down, drop the bat, man. Drop the bat. Drop the bat. [ sound of gunfire ] shots fired, shots fired. Reporter the shooting happened april 18th. Police got a call of a man waving a bat and may have been suffering a mental episode. When the first officer arrived, he ordered taylor to put down the back back. When taylor does not comply, a taser was deployed twice, followed by a fatal gunshot. Today, the Alameda County District Attorney Nancy Omalley announcing her office has filed manslaughter charges against the Police Officer Jason Fletcher for killing Stephen Taylor. A thorough review of the statement of witnesses and involved Police Officers physical evidence and a review of multiple videos of the shooting shows that at the time of the shooting, it was not reasonable to conclude mr. Stephen taylor posed an imminent threat of death or Great Bodily Injury to anyo in the store. Reporter police chief jeff tutor have now referred all comments to the District Attorneys office. The family and its attorney are planning to speak formally about this tomorrow. In san leandro , kpix 5. New details now on the salon visit that nancy pelosi claims was a set up. The scu and the l in you complexes are roughly 75 contained. Crews finally at the Halfway Point of putting out the cz you fire. Crews have been able to more closely the damage now. The air quality is not great, but at least it is getting a little bit better in time for a heat dont to develop and push that smoke on the ground level. It is not in the prime position to send that hot air towards us neither. It will be. Sunday and monday look like the peak of the latest heatwave with triple digit temperatures likely in land. Near the bay and on the coast, does not look like the offshore wind will develop and lead to a labor day heatwave of three years ago in 2015. We can be thankful for that. The more yellow dots on the map then orange this weekend, but still for sensitive groups it will be a little thick in the north. On the east side of the bay we had some of the worst air quality to start that he gets noticed toward san jose. Looking toward downtown, we are seeing that marine layer making its way and plenty of smoke. Temperatures are in the 60s and the sun is not even down yet. It goes down in about 16 minutes. Temperatures will continue dropping down. It will be 72 degrees in concord. Temperatures will drop and low fog will spread inland through tonight. A similar pattern through the past several days. It backs up near the coast, but not off the coast by tomorrow afternoon. Gray skies overhead for at least one more day, probably friday as well. Temperatures start off in the mid50s to around 60 degrees. Hour by hour thursday, a slow warmup. The fog is still in place and temperatures start jumping a little where the fog is cleared out, only in the 70s by lunchtime. Not bad at all for early september. High temperatures similar to what we had today, a couple of degrees warmer inside, mid to upper 60s around the bay, mid to upper 70s for most of the santa clara valley. Same thing for the north bay, mid to upper 70s. The pollen count is going to be in the medium high category tomorrow. Same thing as we head into the weekend. If you are sensitive, the wheat pollen, grass pollen and now elm pollen is in the atmosphere too. Here is our excessive heat watch on saturday. The peak of the heat will be sunday and monday with triple digit heat likely for inland portions of the bay area and even around the bay. Temperatures will be well into the 70s saturday and into the 80s for sunday and labor day on monday. Our temperatures back off a little as we head mac toward the middle of next week.
