What firefighters are ultimately going to need to do is look at the map, figure out where they can set up some defenses in terms of where the fire is headed, and hopefully get it to burn itself out at those lines of defense. The fire in the Santa Cruz Mountains has settled down a bit and we are surveying the damage as big basin state park. One of the most beloved places in the bay area is gone. Continuing the fire watch to the north bay where another victim has been found dead. That is the fifth person who has died from the complex, cal fire says 870 structures have been destroyed. 350,000 acres have been burned, that is larger than the size of los angeles. The cal fire chief says crews in the area are a priority and are getting the support they need. We are number one for getting resources in as they become available from out of state as well as other incidents that start on their stuff. This evening we are getting a firsthand look at some of those homes that have turned to rubble. The best air quality is still not great, but at least it has been improving a little bit and pushing further into the east bay with moderate levels. Not too much time outside come the worst air quality all day over the weekend has been closer to the fires, the north bay and collecting in the valleys. Westward towards pleasanton and into the santa clara valley, clustering around san jose. Tomorrow is another day of bad air quality over the east and santa clara valley. Another spare the air day but there are some hopeful signs in terms of how much moisture is going to be pushing inland. Deeper marine layer making its way further inland overnight. Taking look at where visibility would end up tomorrow morning and shaking out conditions around the various fires in a few minutes. We knew wildfire season was coming. We have been training volunteers, practicing to shoulder in the covid environment and trying to put people in hotel rooms first or encourage them to find friends and family and make sure they are covid free and not in high risk categories. We are being safe doing six feet apart, monitoring them as they come in and take temperatures. We have health checks, Public Health on board, isolation rooms if someone is sick. There are all sorts of precautions we are taking, our volunteers are prepared and ready. What you need are the donations and now we are up to 74,000 and we can go beyond that pushing up to 100,000. Gusting up to 15 Miles Per Hour but thats an onshore breeze and as long as it is consistent, it can allow for that. As long as the wind does not swiftly direction which we dont expect it to happen to allow for that and adjust their containment efforts. Temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s where the bulk of the fires are burning toward solano county. Stoneleigh 20 to 40 range, could be worse. Gusting to about 20 Miles Per Hour, they are consistent. Humidities are higher heaney 30 to 50 level. Warm to hot. 80s to low 90s gusting up to around 20 Miles Per Hour. Here is the good news, in the vicinity of the lightning complex, that is where the humidity is 50 to 70 . This means it is allowing the spread of that fire. Onshore direction up to around 10 Miles Per Hour. The wind is going to be pushing the worst of the air into the east bay into the trivalley and south bay into the shape of the valleys that collects such, smoke. For the east bay and south bay. Not great air quality theres the effort mentioned fog around the suture tower. Only 63 downtown, temptress further inland or not that warm. At 80 degrees, heres the fog, spreading far inland, we will take this for as long as the weather pattern remains in place. Further inland in a little bit, its going to take a while for it to retreat towards the coast by midday tomorrow we will see some reduced visibilitys along the coast but further inland and it will clear out. But not the smoke. A layer of fog near the ground and smoke above it. Temperatures will bottom out in the 50s, low to mid 60s slightly above average for late august with temperatures tomorrow, low to mid 70s, warm or hot for inland portions of the east bay but not outof control heat that we were dealing with, temperatures in the 80s, low 90s east of the trivalley and low to mid 80s for the south bay. Temperatures will stay hot inland but abnormally hot for late august. Mostly upper 60s and low 70s around the bay, mid to upper 60s era the coast the fog goes back and forth each day.
