No victims were seriously hurt. A Mountain Lion captured. Fish and wild life officers teamed up the animal control to trap the big cat around 6 30 this morning. The Mountain Lion had appeared on cell phone and security videos around the city from russian hill to first admission. It was spotted early this morning. Mountain lions dont usually hang around a city like this. They might come up from the peninsula and look around and say, this is not where i want to be and turn around and go back. Whats unusual is how long it stayed. The animal weighing only about 50 pounds was too young and light to be tranquilized. It was relocated to the oakland zoo temporarily. During the closure, the tourist attraction has made an effort to increase safety and space. Pier 39 boasts 100 shops and is plenty of outdoor dining. The pier reduced the maximum occupancy, installing a new entry and exit gate. Face coverings required for all visitors ages 13 and up. We decided to come out and just spend a little time keeping our social distancing and masks. You have to make the best of it. Plenty of hand washing stations scattered around the pier for sanitation.
