No, we dont cancel the carnivals, just like we dont cancel christmas. Reporter hernandez says the multicultural celebration will be postponed for months, maybe until labor day. Instead he says the organization is retooling to help those folks in the community with the School Supplies and food. Other large events in the bay area have not said what they will do. Reporter the Police Department was the first in california to lose an officer, in an effort to protect their officers, developing a new staffing plan, one thats being modeled. They had to take a bold approach to protect their officers, after losing the detective to covid19. Officers now work 1 hours a shift for two weeks and self isolate to monitor for any symptoms. Its a plan that the berkeley Police Department has adopted to protect its agency. The reality is there are replacement officers, in the short term we could ask for mutual aid. Reporter the headquarters is also home to the Emergency Operations center and the dispatch for both police and fire. A positive case here could take out vital services. Also in santa rosa, the Fire Department today deployed the Pandemic Response unit. Its a special unit that will respond to flulike symptoms, e quiffed with higher level of personal protective equipment and first on the scene. The deputy fire chief says the death of mary lou armor would detect this. Really the final push is in the last week where a lot of work is done for them to get this going, so they would just expedite what we had to get done.
