Were following new developments tonight at the Gateway Center in hayward. Seven seniors have now died from the virus there. Another 33 have tested positive. 25 Staff Members are also infected. The state department that regulates Nursing Homes say the gateway and other facilities, run by the same owner, have dozens of violations and citations in recent year. Still, no comment from the facility. The mercury news reports a second patient death at the orinda care center. A total of 50 people have tested positive at the facility. A nursing home in san jose is bringing in outside staff to help with its outbreak. 27 people have tested positive at the ridge post, formerly called the Mount Pleasant nursing center. All patients will be treated in house. You have people held captive there. In the sense that the patients there cant get out. Theyre dependent upon others to help them with their life, to care for them. And youre bringing in people from the outside on a regular basis. Tonight, one bay area county is getting tougher on people planning to hit the trails, parks, and open spaces. That could mean paying a fine if youre caught. Reporter the Marin County Sheriffs Department says for the past week its been issuing warning citations for those violating the shelter in place order. Now marin is limiting access to local parks ahead of the Holiday Weekend. The Marin County Sheriffs Department is continuing to see a large number of visitors coming in to enjoy the trails. This line of cars was along Tennessee Valley road yesterday, and today these signs have been put up instead. The bay area is doing a great job of isolating, so to have citations is, i dont know, a little aggressive in my mind. I feel like these signs are fine. Reporter the no parking signs are part of marin countys emergency resolution issued today to keep crowds away. Its frustrating, certainly. I think were all trying to do our part and stay close to our homes. When you see others not doing that, its frustrating. Reporter marin county is not the only one implementing the tougher restrictions. The east Bay Regional Park District is either closing parking lots or limiting access to ten additional parks. And san jose will close all regional parks for the Holiday Weekend to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The massive amounts of influx of people, thats disappointing. But i understand why people were just trying to get outside. I dont blame anybody. This is strange times for everybody. Reporter if you get a ticket in marin county for parking near the open spaces, the ticket will cost you 100. Also, for the next month, marin county is implementing tougher restrictions on short term rentals, that includes anything from hotels to vacation rentals. The quilt volunteers work in isolation to sew the masks. In just the first week, they made more than 400 masks to be delivered to people in need. Another inmate tested positive at the santa rita jail, and tonight the Alameda County public defender is calling for the release of more prisoners. He wants them to immediately release all inmates with less than six months to serve on their sentences. Nearly 600 low level offenders have already been released. There are 14 confirmed cases at the dublin facility. Tonight, Alameda County has arranged for about 70 homeless residents to shelter in place at hotels and is working on housing hundreds more.
