here. good morning. its january 24, i'm michelle griego. >> and i'm kenny choi. let's see how that weather forecast is shaping up. >> good morning. a lot like yesterday. there is patchy fog for in many spots, and a big spread in the temperatures depending on if you're in land or in the bay. let me show you what i mean by that. let's take a look at our numbers. it is 42 degrees in livermore, and just about 10 degrees warmer than that in the city where it is 51 degrees for san francisco and the spread in between. here are your headlines, patchy fog this morning, mainly in land spots, we will see a few evening showers tonight, only in the north bay, very small amount and don't count on that. lights red ring come back for sunday morning, and that is what i want to talk to you about in more detail. coming up and the complete forecast to see how the drive is looking right now. >> so far so good. it is fridays and typically simulator conditions on the freeway and that's pretty much the case as you work your way through most of the freeway's. out of the south bay no troubles right now and clear as you work your way along guadalupe parkway. just a heads up, there are some foggy spots this morning and chp has issued an advisory for fog as you work your way across the carquinez bridge. so limited visibility but receiving some nice views as you work your way across the span. i'm anne makovec from the live news desk and we are going live right now to houston, texas, where there was some sort of building explosion . appears to have been at a -- a lot of them have extensive damage. business in northwest houston. the building exploded around 4:20 this morning. at least two people are injured. and the business where this originated appears to be a machining and manufacturing company. early reports are that that it was a gas tank that exploded but the damage were looking at here with some of these homes, broken windows, distorted garage doors, we will keep an eye on this. back to you. the bay area is on high end alert this morning for the coronavirus. in alameda county health officials are looking into whether or not the virus may have artie spread to the east bay. right now there are fewer than 10 cases being investigated. the patients are under home isolation. since identified last month the virus has affected at least 8:30 people killing 25 in china i last checked. officials also say among the patients being evaluated in alameda county only a few of them have had sample sent out for testing. >> we really think it's very risky in the bay area that we as a community and our healthcare community are working hard together to make sure if and when the virus comes to the bay area we will be able to detect it early on and contain it. >> the health department is also taking action to protect the public. they are sending fact sheets and outlining where coronavirus cases have been confirmed and airport screening locations and health tips against the virus. meanwhile in china shanghai disneyland has closed as a preventative measure against the spread of the virus. major limits including 70,000 movie theaters have also closed and at least seven major cities are now under a travel ban. looking live to capitol hill this morning in just a few hours house managers are set to finish their opening arguments. cbs's skyler henry with how to date girls is out on parole in the bay area. sam strange was released last weekend and will stay under supervised parole in alameda county for the next two years. he who is 45 years old was convicted of the two murders in nevada county back in 1996. the victims to 16-year-old girls. >> she was funny and smart and magnetic. my sister and her friend never got the chance at half of what he will experience. >> the other victims relatives now say they believe strangers claim that he only witnessed the murders and move the bodies, and the governor reviewed the proposed parole during a 30 day period last year and allowed it to go through. >> 52-year-old man is in custody in connection with a year-long rash of projectile attacks along highways in the monterey bay area. since february of last year the california highway patrol has investigated 69 incidents of vehicles hit projectiles and those incidents happened along u.s. highway 101 in the printable area and state highway 156 in san benito county. at least four adults and one child were injured by broken glass. in a november incident a school bus was hit while carrying members of the carmel high school ball team to a game in san jose's brenham high. chp says lafferty shot glass marbles from a slingshot while at the wheel driving. >> mr. lafferty s of a weapon a there's no indication at this point that a firearm was used in any of the incidences. >> the seas b says the break in the case came after the most recent incident in january. investigators were able to link the crime to a gmc sonoma pickup which was then traced to lafferty and he is being held in monterey county jail on a quarter million dollar bail facing 10 felony counts. this morning are learning more about the free american -- three americans killed while battling bars and australia. the c-130 hercules crashed while on a mission to drop fire retardant in a rugged part of the country's coastal mountains. all three men on board were killed including captain ian mcbeth, a mechanic, first officer paul hudson of arizona and flight engineer richter morgan of florida. the crash happened as fire conditions worsened with 90 degree heat and 60 mile-per- hour wind gust. the three occupants on board highly specialized, highly experienced specifically trained, dedicated professionals to the art of aerial firefighting and large airplane firefighting did not survive. we simply don't know the circumstances pertaining to the accident at this stage and the appropriate formal investigations and inquiries are underway. >> the c-130 hercules tanker helped five fires in california last summer including the massive kincade fire and was based at mcclellan air force base in sacramento county. this is video of governor gazza newson and former governor arnold worsening or touring tanker 134 back in august. the governor released a statement saying in part, california and australia already united by the deadly fires now grieve this tragic loss together. investigators have reached the crash site and the tail section reportedly remains intact with the fuselage being destroyed.'s still ahead,, power shutoff becoming the new norm in current numbers are like it's a little warmer this morning than we were yesterday but not enough that you will notice. maybe a degree or two warmer. the cool spots as usual are the inland locations, livermore 43 and napa 42. remember those two when we take a look at where the fog is because that is also where you will find the fog. colder the temperature gets the more likely it is you will condense, the clouds and if we look at the visibility map look at livermore. .3. that is as far down the road as you can see in miles and that's an issue. that is where visibility becomes a concern. so, there is area number one. >> parts of alameda county and as we go north take a look at napa. down soalto 0.3. santa rosa and we will watch fairfield over the next few hours. right now the readings are ok but we are likely going to see some issues for the sheltered valleys in sonoma county over the rest of the morning so, patchy fog, as was the thing he does we will warm back up into the low and mid 60s. we will have leftover clouds and, yes, there is rain right now on hi-def doppler but you got to get pretty far north. >> if we show where the showers are we have to go north of ukiah even on 101 to fight any of the rain but i want to come back home and switch on hi-def doppler and put in futurecast and show you how we will see a few of those light showers just graze the northern part of the bay area as we get into this evening. the showers will be confined mainly to sonoma, leica mendocino county's later tonight. they don't amount to much and they are done by the time we get into tomorrow. >> even if we put rainfall totals on here ukiah picks up over 0.1 zero rain and santa rosa we don't get enough rain to measure it. that's the one for friday night. it's a rainmaker that actually gets here late saturday night into sunday morning, right here, sunday at 3 am and that is when we will get widespread rain. and then by the time we get to 8 am it is done. you will see a chance of rain in the seven-day forecast on sunday but we just saw whatever rain will get on sunday is done by 8:00. and not that big a deal and it's the only chance i got on here with rain. how to
