We have Team Coverage of the storm. First, mary is tracking areas with heavy rain. That is right. The heaviest rain for the south bay and east bay. Because of that we have an aerial urban and small stream flood advisory for the areas highlighted in green. That includes palo alto, all under a flood advisory due to the road flooding. Please be careful out there. You can see why. With a heavy rain on high def doppler especially for the south bay, those red covers indicate heavy rain over san jose. Rainfall rates are coming down at more than three inches per hour. Almost 3. 5 inches per hour. Moderate to heavy rainfall pushes across brentwood and fremont. Light showers over oakland and across the golden gates. Light to moderate rain. This is because of a cold front that we are tracking that has brought the gusty winds and all of the rain. We will time it out for you as we take you through the rest of the afternoon when the shower activity will wrap up and details on that are coming up in just a few minutes. It was really coming down earlier this morning. They have these sand bags out for residents. You can pick them up. The flooding just picks up out of nowhere. A lot of people are experiencing that in their yards. This is the strongest storm we have seen so far this year. From the Oakland Hills to the bay bridge to San Francisco city streets and all of our bay area freeways the rain this morning was relentless. Driving was a real challenge. The water is around and everyone seems drive. They cant locate their brake pedal. They can only press the accelerator. King tides added to the water flooding the lanes. Driving is terrifying in the rain. Reporter most had to stay dry. I got the umbrella oh and i had some packages today that i double bag to keep them dry. Reporter this is a dog walker. The National Weather service expects one to two feet of snow by the time it is all over. Drivers in that area will see icy roads and poor visibility. The National Weather service says travel through the mountains will be impossible this afternoon and this evening. Check out the conditions on the sierra freeways, 12 to 18 inches of snow. Within the last hour our all southbound lanes will reopen. A wrong way crash left one person dead and sent two to the hospital. A Dodge Charger got on the highway heading in the wrong direction near manor drive. It collided with the mercedes suv. The driver of the charger was killed. His passenger in the other driver were taken to the hospital. No word on their condition. Police are investigating the first homicide of the year which happened at clayton road in san jose. It was a gun shot that killed this man. No word on a suspect or motive. A busy day at the capital as Congress Moves forward with the impeachment process against president trump. You can see it is pouring right over san jose. You can see it zooming into the south bay with a moderate to heavy rainfall pushing across san jose and checking rainfall rates, about one point 75 hours coming down. In livermore, a light to moderate rainfall for rain mile. It goes across berkeley and alameda and oakland. Looking at some light showers there. Putting it into motion you can really see the cold front pushing across the region that brought heavy rain and strong winds. We are watching the wind. Here is a wet san jose camera. Right now it is 46 degrees. Temperatures in the mid 40s. 45 in concorde and oakland is 46. 46 for downtown San Francisco and 45 for santa rosa. After a windy morning, when the cold front did push through, gusts up to 50 to 60 Miles Per Hour. 13 Miles Per Hour in oakland and about 12 Miles Per Hour out of the South Southwest in berkeley at the moment.
