An elite team of trained rescuers gathered for a quick breefg before they head out to the eastern seaboard. The members that are deploy ing are the best of the best. They are one of 28 teams around the country that are all part of the National Search and rescue team. We are deploying with inflatable boats, motors, devices to reach people. And they head to areas ravaged by flood waters and wind. This time they are off to North Carolina which is in the path of Hurricane Dorian. They can be very long days. Sun up to sun down. The oakland Fire Departments rescue team was dispatched to Hurricane Florence last year. Peters was part of a rescue team that was dispatched twice two years ago to texas for Hurricane Harvey and florida for hurricane irma. Every minute is different. It is stressful but you are working with just phenomenal ree specialists and even rescue k9s trained to track down people trapped in buildings. A team ready for whatever dorian brings. When we go in we never know what to expect. We are prepared for the worst. We hope for the best. Nothing we are ready for anything that to the come towards us.
