The suspect stole a postal truck and began firing randomly. An exchange of gunfire happened and that subject is deceased at that location. A hazmat incident at a popular San Jose Hotel has left one person dead and nine others ill. They were exposed to an unknown poisonous chemical. Kpix5s kenny choi is at the Fairmont Hotel where all of this unfolded. Reporter San Jose Police are still conducting tests to determine what the chemical was. In front of the Fairmont Hotel, it is fairly quiet but hours arrived it was a different situation. Sounds like a chemical exposure. Reporter a chaotic scene infolded as hazmat set up a Decontamination Center hosing down people exposed to the chemical. Ink ey were decontaminates them. Reporter more than 100 fire police, and hazmat personnel responded after 10 00 a. M. When the body of an adult female was found in a room. There was an odd odor comeing from the room. Everything was so quick. It was like a gas smell. We know there are liquids on the floor in the room and the counter on the room. We dont know if those are mouthwash or the hazardous chemicals. Every single puddle in the room has to be tested. Reporter authorities believe Hydrogen Sulfide gas might have been the deadly gas. Some were initially complaining of feeling faint, lightheaded. Reporter nine people felt sick and had to be rushed to the hospital. 120 guests had to be evacuated from the 17th to 20th floors. Put out as quickly as we could out of the room. We didnt know if it was a drill or whether it was for real. Reporter hazmat crews declared everything to be safe about six hours after this event unfolded. San jose police now taking over this case and investigating it still as a possible suicide. And have ruled out a terrorist attack. In san jose, kenny choi, kpix5. The fire captain says it will be a slow long process for them to figure out what the suspicious chemical was comprised of. Hurricane dorian has its sight set on the bahamas tonight but the big question is when or if it will make landfall in the u. S. Meteorologist darren peck joins us now with more on dorians movement. There is more positive news for florida, but first, the bahamas are up tomorrow and this does not look good. This is the High Resolution satellite. That is dorian filling up the right side of the screen and the bahamas are on the really intense visible satellite imagery from earlier today and bring you to the here and now, the hurricane looks a little different because it is night. Thats the best way to visualize it. That is about to roll right over the bahamas. A category 4 hurricane. The bahamas are right there. That is a category 4 moving across the islands. Now, there is some good news here, because, the center and the official forecast going down the middle here, keeps dorian off the coast. But you cant just look at that. You have to look at the entire cone of uncertainty and florida is still very much in play the next two days. It is not only florida. Dorian will work its way off to the north and become the carolinas by the middle of next week. We will talk about dorian for a while. It starts tomorrow in the bahamas. The half acre fire sparked near second and 80. They worked to contain the flames. No one was hurt in the fire and no structures are in danger. Now i want to show you a more unique way of looking at it. The deeper the shade of red and orange, the higher the possibility any location in this range will experience Hurricane Force winds. The bahamas will certainly experience it. When you look at the east coast, it is only a 20 to 30 chance of Hurricane Force winds. That is still a concern. How would you feel if there was a Hurricane Force winds the next four days . They still have to be very prepared for that. Just an interesting setup. How does a hurricane make such a hard right turn like that . There is a big area of High Pressure here. That is dominating the steering flow out here in the atlantic.
