Who is live at aquatic park which is now closed. Reporter thats right. Authorities have shut it down to swimming until monday because of the latest sea lion attack. They just put signs up and down the shoreline in the last hour or so. Swimmers are asked not to go into the water, obviously, but they are wondering if its the same sea lion that attacked a different swimmer yesterday afternoon. We want to show you some cell phone footage taken this morning. It shows people helping this mornings victim out of the passenger seat of an suv into an ambulance. Now, the attack happened around 8 a. M. This morning. The victim was swimming in the aquatic park. He says a sea lion came from underneath him and bit him in the groin area. He screamed out for help, swimmers nearby came and swam with him to shore. He came in shocked he had a look in his face where, um, just wanted to get to a hospital. So we called 911. Sat back and had some coffee and heard ah, ah, ah looked over to see a guy just right inside the entrance to the marine harbor. Reporter following the attack, the San Francisco Fire Departments patrol boat got into this area and they started looking for the animal and also warning other folks to stay out of the water. The victim is in his 50s. We are told he should be okay. He was part of a Swimming Club and the other swimmers in his club were there to help him. This is the second attack. Yesterday there was a different attack of another swimmer. He was bitten in the arm, bleeding a lot, but also expected to be okay. Lets come back live now. Again, the question now, how do they go about finding why one, if its the same sea lion and, if so, why is it attacking swimmers . There are talks that it could be sick and thats why its attacking folks. Typically, there are seals here. Sea lions dont usually come into this cove so its very strange to see one coming in here and, two, attacking, biting people. But they need to determine how this happened. Our other top story this afternoon, right now at San Francisco city hall people are paying their final respects to mayor lee. Chopper 5 was overhead a little while ago where you can see the flag on two fire engines outside of the entrance to city hall. Inside, mayor lees body is lying in repose in the rotunda for a public viewing that runs all day today. We saw former mayor willie brown paying his respects. Jackie ward reports. Reporter its really a beautifully touching event thats happening right now inside city hall. As you said, hundreds of people have already visited to pay tribute to their mayor and hundreds more are coming but already, nancy pelosi has been here, and the lieutenant governor. As you can see, behind me the line is stretching down pulse to mcallister all here to see a man who loved San Francisco and its people. Reporter ushered in by an honor guard consisting of members from the San Francisco Police Department and sheriffs office, mayor lee entered city hall for the last time just as the sun was coming up, two San Francisco fire trucks raised a giant American Flag in his honor. People were lined up even before the doors opened waiting to get their chance to pay their respects to their mayor. Some came because they respected his politics. He had a lot of plans on trying to get more help for the homeless. I feel like he was working on Affordable Housing which was super important. Reporter while others came to say goodbye to someone they admired. Warm, happy, always at the warriors parades. I was there with him. He was a very decent man. He really wanted to help the city. He made a difference. Reporter inside city hall in the rotunda where the mayors body lies in repose, the mood is somber. Members of mayor lees staff walked in together hugging one another and trying to hold back tears as they said goodbye. For all mayor lee did in his almost his 7 years as mayor, its what he wont do in the future that makes people sad. He was going to go on and travel and spend time with his family and unfortunately, that is not going to happen. M. From San Francisco city hall, jackie ward, kpix 5. This just in from washington. Florida republican senator marco rubio now says that he will support president trumps tax reform bill. The bill is supposed to go up for a vote next week. Reporter weijia jang is live for us on capitol hill with the latest. Reporter thats right, senator rubio threw a last minute curve ball but after some lastminute wheeling and dealing and revising, members of the House Senate Conference committee signed a final version of the bill sending it to both chambers for a final vote next week. Republicans are expected to unveil the language of a tax reform bill that house and Senate Negotiators painstakingly combed through. This is a big bill with a lot of moving parts and so it requires a lot of attention to detail. Reporter but there are several requests to revise the bill after senators rubio and lee issued an ultimatum. They are demanding that the refundable Child Tax Credit be increased by more than 100. An earlier bill would have doubled it. Im reasonable about it. I recognize that with only two of us pushing for it hard in the senate our leverage is lessened but nonetheless it needs to be more than 1,100. Reporter rubio and lee have a lot of leverage because Senate Republicans can only afford to lose two votes. President trump is confident he can get them on board. I know them very well. I know how they feel. These are great people. And they want to see it done. And they want to see it done properly. Reporter tennessee senator bob corker is going to vote against it and two more republicans may not be able to vote at all. Senators mccain and cochran are sick and have already missed votes this week. The republican majority is going to shrink even further in january. Democrat doug jones takes the seat he won in alabamas special election. We are expecting to see that published version of the bill at 5 30 local time so we can sift through it and get a better understanding of how it will affect families. After all this work, republicans arent taking any chances. Vice president mike pence has canceled an overseas trip so he can be on standby to cast a tie break vote if needed. Now, starting in january on the 1st, californians can buy Recreational Marijuana if they are 21 or older. Heres a sample of what we sell. Reporter in the never ending search for life beyond earth, nasa scientists have uncovered the only other 8 planet solar system they know of that circles a sun. With help from google and their Machine Learning Computer Software scientists analyzed thousands of data points captured from this nasa planet hunting space telescope the keppler. That data helped researchers discover this new planet, keppler 90i. Having all this data for scientists is like trying to drink from a firehose. Reporter this astronomer says it was the way it was discovered that has scientists buzzing and makes their job easier. The google ai system has been able to search through the pile of information faster than humans have been able to. If you think about the analogy of the number of stars in a galaxy, being like the number of sand grains on a beach, its as if we have been asked to search through all the sand grains on the beach to find just the red sand grains. Reporter like earth, keppler 90i is the third planet from the sun in an eightplanet system but unlike earth the temperature on the surface of this planet is about 800 degrees fahrenheit. Wind gusts up to 50 Miles Per Hour expected at those ridgetops. Thats blowing debris, power lines, if theres any kind of spark of a fire it could take off so those warnings are in place for this weekend. Look at the futurecast. And i wish we could say we had a chance of rain in that seven day forecast. Theres supposed to a slight chance on wednesday of next week. Unfortunately, it looks like that storm is going to stay just near the californiaoregon border so all we are going to get from it is a drop in temperatures and some cloudy conditions. We should always look and see whats going on. So i saw her a couple of months ago. She had head shaking and a lot of wax and she was fine for several months. We did the recheck after the initial head shaking and everything was great. Two or three months go by, head shaking again. And so i had her bring her in and i looked in there and you know what i found . Tons of beach sand [ laughter ] thats the first time i have been practicing over 30 years and never had that happen. This dog spent a lot of time at the beach and there was all this sea sand in there. [ laughter ] so we went ahead and treated her for that. She had to recheck this morning and she looks great.
