Live, from the cbs bay area studios, this is kpix5 news. Breaking news tonight in modesto where five people are dead including three children. Police have just released a picture of a man they want to find. Good evening, im juliette goodrich. The neighborhood has been blocked off since this afternoon and police have been bringing in more and more equipment throughout the day for their investigation. The gruesome discovery was made at about 3 00 p. M. In the home at the 2600 block of Knob Hill Court. Kpix5s Christian Hartnett is there right now. He has more on the man police are looking for tonight. Christian . Reporter well police have been here since early afternoon. It was just in the past hour that police named a person of interest. Someone that they believe to be armed and dangerous. This is 30yearold Martin Martinez of modesto. Police did not say how martinez is connected to the murder of two adults an three children here on Knob Hill Court. But police are asking the public to keep watch for his 2000 red Lincoln Navigator here. Call police if you see that vehicle with license plate number 7cnn611. Again, police say he drives a 2000 red Lincoln Navigator with this license plate number. Now Modesto Police say that started when police got a call asking them to do a routine welfare check at a home. When police arrived, the five bodies were found. They have not released the identity of those killed other than the fact it was two adults and three children. We do have five deceased inside of a home in modesto. I would say he is dangerous. If known where he is. Call 911. Reporter now while the search for the person of interest continues, police still have plenty of work to do here on Knob Hill Court including getting a search warrant to enter the house and further investigate inside. For the most part, they dont know who lived at the house or what they looked like other than one neighbor we spoke with who said they kept to themselves. They were inside most of the time. They wouldnt have recognized their faces if they saw them in public. But this is catching a lot of the communitys attention. A lot of people gathered out here. Well in other news now, an elderly woman has died from burns suffered at a fire in a senior fire complex. She was found inside a smoke filled area living room and she was air lifted to the burn center at uc davis. Investigators suspect a lit cigarette ignited the futon and blanket where she had fallen asleep. The fire spread too fast for the sprinklers. Tonight, firefighters in Southern California are still trying to contain two wild fires. Both in San Bernardino county. This one coached 3500 acres. It tore across i15 setting dozens of cars ablaze. It has destroyed two Hundred Acres and forced hundreds of campers to evacuate in wrightwood. Joy benedict on the scary night for the campers there. He had 130 children to evacuate. We are safe. But our house is up there and we cant get up there. Reporter his campers are home now, but he and his wife are waiting out the fire at this red cross shelter and they arent alone. The pine fire broke just after 9 00 p. M. Friday night near camp care. Firefighters started evacuating houses including the Girl Scout Camp an the lion camp for the hearing impaired. I was like, hoping everything was fine. Reporter parents started picking up their children early. It give us lot of peace of mind knowing the red cross is involved. Reporter the red cross tells me they had about 250 evacuees at one point. Meanwhile, firefighters are warning people not to fly drones over the wild fires. They say five were in the area yesterday when flames engulfed cars on i15. That forced cal fire to keep the aerial attack on hold until the air space was clear. When people are hampering on our effort with these drones, someone could be injured or killed because we cannot protect them with our aircraft. The drone issue is expected to come up at cal fires next meeting in ten days. A fifth man died this morning from the attack on the military recruiting station in chattanooga, tennessee. The family of u. S. Navy petty officer Randall Smith was shot in his liver, colon, and stomach thursday during the attack. He had managed to give his wife a thumbs up sign after having surgery this morning but died a short time later. He was 24 years old. And new details are emerging about the gunman. Authorities say Muhammad Youssef abdulazeez frequented a shooting range with friends as recreptly as last week. In 2013, he lost his job at an ohio Nuclear Power plant after just ten days. Well, wild weather in the south land prompting beach closures, lightning strikes and rescues. Some hikers got caught on a steep cliff at a san diego beach. Rain turned the hillside into a treacherous mud slide. One of them, a woman, took a nasty fall. She landed ten feet in some rocks and produced a pretty mayor leg injury. It was difficult to access where the patient was. Very slippery. That was scary. Lightning forced the closure of some beaches between la and san diego. And, an Alaskan Airlines plane had to make an Emergency Landing after it was struck by lightning. After it was struck, it turned right back around as a precaution. Well, we have interesting weather shaping up for sunday in the bay area. We have the remains of a hurricane turned Tropical Storm working its way slowly toward Southern California and then the bay area. You can see it by examining this full screen. The circulation brings this very juiced atmosphere toward the bay area. We will increase the chance of a thunderstorm tomorrow. The humidity is definitely going to be up. We will see high clouds time to time. There is ian a chance weapon might pick up a little bit, but the chance increases as the day goes on. The sun heats up the moisture and there is a chance for a thunder bumper or two. Look at the high clouds.
