This morning. Plenty of clouds but you can see the sun peaking through. With ere were going the see the sun for most of the day. Temperatures already in the lower 60s. What to expect in the day ahead the morning low clouds will stick around. Partly cloudy but mostly sunny and a little warmer around the bay around inland. It is the beginning of a bit of a warm up. Well have a closer look at your extended forecast coming up. Pleasant weekend but not so much around the Golden Gate Bridge. Were 33 hours in and that construction on doyle drive in San Francisco continues. There you see crews working. Theyve been doing it straight through the night. Old asphalt was torn up. The renovation is the last part of that billion dollar project that began back in 2009. Its replacing that old roadway that was just not up to earthquake standards. This project is taking its toll on traffic. Look at that mess heading into the city from lorraine county. Yesterday getting out of the city smooth sailing. People hope drivers will stay away from that area and the bridge in general for that matter. But its the weekend and people will be out and about. If youre going to be one of those people john franco is going to show you how to get around that construction without going insane. If you are making your way into San Francisco looking to avoid delays use alternates. Buses and ferries are good options. Just mades up, buses to and from the Golden Gate Bridge theres no service. Anybody who is driving through San Francisco knows parking is scarce and not cheap. It is about to get even more expensive. When word got out parking in San Francisco will cost even more upset drivers werent hard to find. What do you think of adding 27 cents to that credit card . Its ridiculous. Its already high so there shouldnt be a fee for using your credit card. 5 years ago when San Francisco first started replacing out dated coin meters with the shiny new ones that take plastic there was no transaction fee. The good times lasted but a few years. They are soon coming to an end. If we want to provide this option we have to pay for it. The spokesman paul rose, said a federal grant covered the cost of that transaction fee the first few years after the credit card meters were put in. That grant is no more. Now its on you, the driver, to foot the 47. 7 million bill. This is something where we need every single dollar to provide the service that we do every single day. The only problem with that, drivers say they also need to save every little bit too. 27 cents can add up fast. One way or another they are trying to get you. Its not enough for them. Where do you stop . In San Francisco mark kelly, kxip kpix 5. Today a Ground Breaking ceremony to remember those who fought in the korean war. Just recently the Mountain View Library Found out the tale and the man behind these words. Initially when i started reading the email i thought this is wild. The email contained a picture of three men leans against the berlin wall next to the very piece that now sits in Mountain View. Robin is one of those men. The graffiti his handy work. A friend randomly found a picture of the slab online just a couple of weeks ago. I was quite amazed. I was quite cleez pleased that its still there. This is pauly the message of love was for her. Spending a few bucks to save a few minutes thats a proposition many bay area commuters would gladly take. I would be willing to pay because im always in a rush. I do too many things at once. And its the idea behind the bay areas newest strategy to beat the back up. Starting now drivers can upgrade to the flex. It will allow solo commuters to pay a toll to breeze through the soon to be open expressway lanes along the i580 corridor from pleasantonto livermore. If the lanes fill up with car poolers they will not be available for solo drivers. The Metro Transportation Commission Said the idea is not to disadvantage car poolers but to use the express lanes in a smarter way. Its so everybody gets a smoother more reliable trip. Users can switch between a single driver to a three person or more car pool to reduce cheating. Express lanes have been used in Southern California for well over a decade now. We have been a little bit slow to convert car pool lanes to express lanes here in the bay area. The new fast track flex units are already appearing in stores. The old fast tracks will be operational during a lengthy transitional period. Fast track flex wont be operational until october or november when the new express lanes on i580 will open in both directions. Existing car pool lanes will not be effected and wont require an upgrade. A bay area lawmaker has with drawn a bill that would regulate motorcycle lane splitting. It would apply specific speed limits to motorcycle drivers traveling between cars. The assembly cleared but it was pulled before it reached the senate. They said they need more time to work out the details. It was a delay routine but the fbi now admits it allowed the Charleston Church shooter to buy his murder weapon. Alan martin has the story. Fbi director james comey called the mistake heartbreaking and said we are all sick that this has happened. We wish we could turn back time. On april 11th, dylann roof went to the South Carolina gun store to purchase a glock handgun. The transaction triggered an automatic federal background check. An fbi examiners pulled roofs police rap sheet and saw an earlier arrest for drug possession but did not see this report where roof admitted to having the drugs. That confession should have disqualified him from buying a weapon. The examiner never got the report because she couldnt track down the Proper Police department. She marked the case as pending and moved over to other cases. Under the law in a background check remains unresolved after three days the sale can proceed. Roof completed his purchase on april 16th. Its important to recognize that while the system didnt work in this case and with tragic results on the average day in the United States over 500 times someone is identified and denied who is trying to purchase firearms. On the day dylann roof bought his fun the fbi handled more than 30,000 background checks. Several Community Groups will be out in richmond calling for an end to transporting crude by rail.
