Abc 7 News Reporter Leslie Brinkley live on the scene. Reporter there was a Police Pursuit through oakland as the suspect vehicle was silver mercedes wagon exited interstate 580. It crashed into several cars causing one of them to spin out. Ten police cars along the grand lake or nearby the grand lake theater. We are at the intersection of lakeshore avenue and lake park avenue and grand avenue. An eyewitness says two of the three suspects, all if their teens she said, escaped and ran from the crash scene on foot. They were apprehended. The third suspect she said was injured. One of the suspects jumped out of the car. When he jumped out of the car the car behind him hit him. So he was rushed to the hospital with head injuries. Reporter she said she wept as she witnessed this accident unfolding here. Pretty severe scene. There was word there may have been a second injury but we do not have that confirmed. No word on what triggered this Police Pursuit in the first place. What we do know though is many vehicles involved, an Extensive Police Investigation Underway right now. Windows getting broken, that stuff never happened when it was just, you know, the neighborhood people doing it. Reporter this neighborhood you dont expect bullets. You know, you just dont. But there were, shortly after midnight of november 1st. It seems like there was at least 20 to 30 shots. Reporter jim lives across the street from the shooting at 18th and diamond streets. A shooting that left one of the officers and the suspect in critical condition. The officer is now listed as stable. The suspect was booked at his hospital bed on attempted murder and other charges related to the incident. The investigation is still active. Police are looking for two or three possible accomplices who car jacketed a taxi cab near castro and market after the shooting. The suspects left the cab in oakland street. One a man, the other this woman on your screen, mar question that kirk who reportedly rented the u haul of the get away. He and john bivins still on the loose tonight. Officials say the inmates smuggled in a handcuff key and used it to get out of their restraints. Then in a hallway they broke away, went through an emergency exit and got in a waiting car. This expert hired was able to enhance the video before and after steinle was shot. The Surveillance Video was taken from the fire boat station on pier 22. 5 about one mile away. Because of the distance the jury was only able to see people in silhouette. The prosecution has argued that there were many people on that pier that night.
