In a new interview, former President Trump agreed that tiktok is a National Security threat but said that banning tiktok would increase the popularity of facebook, which he considered to be the, quote, enemy of the people. For more on this, its time for a closer look. [ cheers and applause seth fox news and the Republican Party could have spent the last four years crafting an agenda of their own and presenting to the American People an alternative vision to what they would do if they were returned to power. Instead, they spent most of that time telling everybody that joe biden has dementia do you see in joe biden a cognitive decline, and if so, is that a danger to the country i do. I think most of us do. We have a president that clearly is not cognitively up to this job theres a mental decline. This mans got cognitive issues related to his age. Hes in serious mental decline. I mean its so obvious now i dont think theres any doubt bidens senile its a risk to run a candidate who may be senile. We have no clue what joe biden actually thinks or even if hes capable of thinking. You know who lights up for ice cream . Children and the elderly theres a reason caregivers deliver ice cream to their patients in nursing homes. Look, the man has dementia. Theres no doubt about it. Ive talked to doctors he actually displays symptoms that two gerontologists told me are classic symptoms of middlelevel dementia. Its not just my opinion its the opinion of a number of doctors ive actually, you know, interviewed. Seth so, you [ laughter ] talked to a bunch of doctors who told you all the symptoms of dementia [ laughter ] are you sure they werent your doctors . [ laughter ] i would say the first sign of dementia is going in for a doctors appointment and thinking youre the one interviewing the doctor. [ laughter ] here are a few other signs of midlevel dementia you think theres a massive secret conspiracy involving Voting Machines and a dead venezuelan dictator to rig a president ial election. Instant polls showed the speech was a success, and it was so strong, biden was cracking jokes about it afterward when he was caught talking on a hot mic to a member of Congress Nobody is going to talk about Cognitive Impairment now you were on fire, joe i kind of wish sometimes there was Cognitive Impairment seth you could tell biden felt good about his speech from the way he was yukking it up like he just hit an insidethepark home run at a Company Softball game. I told him, bibi, and dont repeat this, but you and i are going to have a come to jesus meeting sir, just just hot mic oh, that was good. [ laughter ] seth you know biden is in a good mood when hes like, the entire world heard that . Well, [ bleep ] it. [ laughter ] any mic is a hot mic when im spittin, son [ laughter ] but more importantly, youre going to have a come to jesus meeting with netanyahu now why didnt you have that meeting five months ago . Was jesus not answering your calls . [ laughter ] you should have left a message saying, call me back right away its about your hometown. [ laughter ] what are you waiting for, the next impromptu press conference inside a combination taco bell pizza hut [ laughter ] as weve said on this show before, the only way out of this horrific situation is an immediate lasting ceasefire and the safe return of all hostages. And in a followup interview, biden said thats what he wants too. You were caught on a hot mic after your state of the Union Address talking to secretary of state Antony Blinken and senator michael bennet, saying, quote, i told him, bibi and dont repeat this but you and i are going to have a come to jesus meeting. What did you mean by that . What i meant was its an expression used in the southern part of my state meaning a serious meeting. Hes hurting israel more than helping israel by making the rest of the world its contrary to what israel stands for. And i think its a big mistake so, i want to see a ceasefire seth if you want to see a ceasefire, then you have to actually do something to achieve it you have to push for it. You have to use your leverage as president to get it. You cant just wish for it out loud like youre throwing pennies into a mall fountain and then heading off to the dq in the food court [ laughter ] nonetheless, democrats and the biden team were clearly pleased by the president S Performance during the speech. Instant polls show voters were pleased too. But the way you know for sure that the speech went well is how much republicans have been in hysterics over it. Sean hannity was obsessed with one phrase in particular when describing bidenS Performance tonight, america saw, um lets say a very different joe biden. I might call him jackedup joe jackedup joe screaming lie after lie. Jackedup joe perhaps overcompensated. Now, the difference between jackedup joe tonight and his recent public appearances. Very angry, very jackedup, you might say. This angry, jackedup joe biden. What was your reaction to jackedup, angry, bitterly partisan joe biden tonight jackedup joe bidens state of the Union Address is in the books. Lets get your overall reaction to jackedup joe seth when the biden team heard hannity say the words jackedup joe that many times, i bet they said, thank you for the kickass new nickname. [ laughter ] biden might be behind trump in a recent poll by four points, but when you change his name to jackedup joe, hes up 45. [ cheers and applause jackedup. [ laughter ] republicans keep coming up with better messaging for biden than biden does he coopted the dark brandon memes and made them a staple of his campaign meanwhile, democrats came up with the slogan and this is real together we will defeat donald trump again heres how you know a Campaign Slogan sucks, when its two sentences. [ laughter ] thats like if obamas was, yes, we can can win an election, i mean. [ laughter ] by contrast, jackedup joe is awesome. That makes him sound like a professional wrestler. Biden should start entering speeches with a hottie on each arm. [ laughter ] im not Kiddin Around here, brother. Youre going to regret the day you met jackedup joe. Oh, yeah. Hannity wasnt the only fox host who concluded that biden must have been on drugs im not a doctor, but theyre giving him something all of a sudden, this guy is like amped, on speed or something. Seth nobody has ever needed to say, im not a doctor, less than Jesse Watters [ laughter ] and if he was a doctor, you know hed be one of those first name doctors like a chiropractor or a wedding deejay [ laughter ] dr. Jesse is here to cure your dance fever and adjust your l5. [ laughter ] also let me ask you who you think is more likely to be on mindaltering drugs . The president who gives a perfectly normal state of the Union Address or a member of congress who shows up to an official work event dressed like this [ laughter ] thats Marjorie Taylor greene at the state of the union looking like she got fired from a Russian Airline for wearing too much flair [ laughter ] although, theres nothing i can say about her dumb halloween getup that cant be summed up by joe bidens reaction when he saw her. Watch bidens face in this clip when he walks into the chamber and sees greenes stupid costume. Mr. President look over here, mr. President. Seth thats how insane she was. She got joe biden to make the rudy face. [ laughter and applause whats especially galling about insisting that biden is on drugs is that in reality, its the Trump White House that had a very real documented drug scandal. And thats not just a salacious rumor. Thats according to a government report a new report from the Inspector General at the Defense Department says the Trump White House was, quote, awash with speed and prescription drugs the report says drugs, including the sleep medication ambien and the antisleep med provigil were given out without identifying who was receiving them in a new Rolling Stone article on the d. O. D. Report, a former staffer told the publication the antianxiety drug xanax was also handed out although it was not mentioned in the i. G. s report seth thats right. The Trump White House was allegedly awash in everything from speed to ambien to provigil to xanax now, we cant legally say that trump is on drugs, but he does look like every side effect from a drug commercial. [ laughter ] sweats like crazy. Gets cottonmouth has trouble seeing the teleprompter, and glitches like his brain is an exploding Rube Goldberg machine. We are a nation that just recently heard that saudi arabia and russia will re uh we have becrumb a nation like nobody thought possible. By far the most disgraceful part of joe bidens service is the divisive and angry speech. So, so angry all components of an incompetent Biden Administration seth honestly, i hope this dude is on drugs [ laughter ] if thats how his brain works stone cold sober, he should see one of rudys doctors. [ laughter ] and it gets worse. There were reportedly even more drugs floating around the Trump White House. So heres the headlines kind of cant mistake it Trumps White House was awash in speed and xanax. The pentagon included a document that showed basically an order form for medications that were ordered by the white house medical unit, that it was doling out, and it was stuff like fentanyl and ketamine. Also morphine and ambien, and a lot of an upper called provigil. Seth im starting to think trumps always raging against the cartels because he considers them the competition [ laughter ] we have to stop fentanyl from crossing our borders because its bringing down the price of our white house fentanyl. This is just me, but id much rather the white house be super into ice cream than, you know, opioids. [ laughter ] the right spent four years pretending biden was senile only to discover that hes not, and now theyre panicking. And all the while, it was the Trump White House that was reportedly awash in all kinds of drugs. For all we know, they were sprinkling adderall in their coffee and calling it jackedup joe [ laughter ] seth this has been a closer look. [ laughter ] i dont need this to be my charging cord. Seth yes but, yes, i grew up at best buy. [ laughter ] there was one next to the costco at park meadows mall in suburban colorado seth uhhuh. And i would walk over and play dance, dance revolution, [ laughter ] which was situated at the center of the store, and i would compete with the staff there seth okay. [ laughter ] and all of these, like, 25yearold goths were shaking in their boots when 14yearold me, this 14yearold asian kid would walk into the store, and everyone would scurry because i was about to hand their asses to them, dancing to Kylie Minogue so there you go. [ cheers and applause seth im not thank you thank you. Seth i know best buys dont have them, but i am picturing yours with saloon doors. [ laughter ] and did they know you from reputation or from the first time did they know the way you walked, or did they know this is not his first time in a dance, dance revolution. I think it was my gait. I think there might have been some racial profiling. [ laughter ] but no i think by like the third month that i was doing this, i would go every week. Seth okay. And by the third month that i did this, i think i think i had developed my my yeah, my imprimatur, which was just im going to kick your ass on ddr. Seth did you ever do it in a way where the store would sort of gather . Yes, people would gather. I learned see, a lot of performers arent used to performing when the audience is behind them. Seth yes and the audience was, like, gathered around like arcade style, like watching like i think i could do the super bowl because its a 360 stage. Seth yeah. [ cheers ] and im performing to the people behind me, yeah [ laughter ] seth they say they book the scouts for super bowl acts, to try and see they go to best buy seth they go to best buy yeah. Seth and their like i found a kid. Hes 14. He can do it in the round [ laughter ] it would have been amazing. Seth Las Culturistas is, of course, about culture. Yes seth such a good podcast, the second time i mentioned it, somebody whooed again yep seth on the second message you the oscars were last night. Yes seth did you what was your bounce on the oscars . Well, my it was a mostly lovely, delightful, pretty boring night, i think. Which was seth yeah. I think a lot of deserved people won. Yes seth but i think we all expected the wins. Exactly jimmy kimmel was a fantastic host seth hes the most consummate host in the game. So good seth yeah. And you mentioned al pacino, thank you, because i think were not talking about how al pacino was giving americas next top model. He was like, there are ten best picture nominees, but only one will win [ laughter ] i hold the envelope in my hand and it was his gayest work since the movie cruising, i think. [ cheers and applause seth it was far less problematic than cruising. Far less problematic than cruising. Less leather [ laughter ] seth you did a wonderful sketch on saturday night, and i really enjoyed it. I was watching live. I havent watched snl live for a long time. Its what you do, yeah. Seth and you and Ariana Grande did a moulin rouge sketch. Yes [ cheers and applause that was very fun. Seth now, you are she is a costar of yours in the upcoming wicked, and so youve worked with her. Yes seth shes a shes a real no playing here. Shes a real friend. No play shes a real friend, and i mean she was just so and someone asked me backstage, like, was it intimidating to sing with her . I was like, it never occurred to me that i was singing with her and that i should be intimidated. Shes so disarmingly wonderful and great, and it was just so fun to do it seth also, you know, its not one of those snl cameos where you can kind of come in and just read a line off a card. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Seth it obviously required a great deal more rehearsal than a normal sketch. A little bit, yeah. Seth and then not only are you guys perfect in that, but then she nails two songs in the show i know seth i walked away very impressed. Can you believe that . I mean just crazy. But for this moulin rouge sketch, a lot of conflicting information from producers and our legal department, so i dont know how much legal trouble im in right now [ laughter ] seth i would say go on youtube, and if its not there, bowens in a jam im in jail yeah, yeah, yeah [ laughter ] seth i have a lot more to ask you. I think like i understand why Austin Butler talked like elvis for a while after the movie. [ light laughter ] seth just like it took a few months i think for a couple more weeks, im still im still straight ladies, get in there [ cheers ] seth yeah. Its interesting because Austin Butler was here last week right seth and ever since hes left, i might be a little bit gay. Yeah, there you go. Funny. It just happens. Seth it just happens you were dark a couple weeks ago, and you went upstate. I did seth are you i dont take you to be a sort of natury, get out i think i got it all out of my system from growing up in colorado, which i love but going upstate was great. I stayed at a place where wildflower farm. I hope i get one free night out of this. [ laughter ] where you get to wake up, and you go and feed chickens, and you pick the eggs that they lay, and then you bring them to breakfast, and the chef cooks them for you seth thats incredible cooks you an omelet its incredible, and then i went on a hike, and then 40 beautiful minutes, and then i fell on my ass, ate absolute sword, and then went home i was like thats enough nature for seth home to the hotel or home to the city no, home to the hotel soon after, the city seth you just fell on the mountain and just slid all the way back to manhattan. Seth look at that. I usually try to avoid intimacy, but you seth but you and i already have a great level of intimacy, so we want to now share it with everyone else. That is true. Seth youve been covering tech for a long time 30 years. Seth we actually dug up your first article for the georgetown hoya that was the name of the georgetown newspaper and just to show how much tech has changed. Yeah. Seth this is the phone company was cracking down on cheaters this is on pay phones. Pay phones. Seth you wrote a pay phone article. I did we had pay phones. And in fact, years later, i was walking in i have a lot of kids, but two of my older kids, we were walking in los angeles when they were kids. And they said, whats that . And i said, its a pay phone. They said, whats it for . I go, well you went up to it and called people. Then you put a dime in it. Now just trying to explain it to them, my youngest said, thats filthy. [ laughter ] and i was like, it was filthy. Seth yeah. [ laughter ] very hard to say, no, you dont understand. Its more like, no, you absolutely nailed it. Cell phone better, yeah seth it was also about a scam yeah. Seth people scamming the phone company. Yeah. Seth obviously tech is always going to find new scams yeah, oh this one seth heres one, and its a. I. Based your book comes out. Yeah. Seth its a bestseller. Yeah. Seth and when this happens with bestsellers, immediately a. I. Starts writing versions of your book. Well, artificial general intelligence, the latest version of a. I seth okay. The latest basically they make fake covers and write fake books in the hopes that people will be confused and buy that on amazon. That is correct that is correct. Seth these are some of the covers of yeah. Seth and i mean kind of impressive [ light laughter ] that is the version of me my mother would like. Seth yeah. What do you think this lady is doing . Its porny. Theyre all porny. Seth yeah, this lady is like shes definitely it also says text queen bee with a sting, which im like, okay seth this one is like, i dont like her. [ laughter ] she became silicon valleys most influential journalist. Thats not even interesting. [ laughter ] seth and then this one i feel like maybe someone spilled coffee on their computer because that was like that was not even in the ballpark yeah, unraveling the life and legacy of yeah, okay. Whatever [ laughter ] that one i look like carrie fisher. Seth yeah, a little bit like carrie fisher. This is a. I. Youve covered so many tech shifts yeah. Seth and a. I. Is the one were living through now right seth how do you feel its different than the previous text shifts youve covered, or is it too early to tell . No. Its big its really big. Its like the internet coming. You know, theres several tech shifts tech includes lots of things like, you know, to cars, carriages, the wheel you recall that. [ light laughter ] seth i full disclosure, i didnt think it would work yeah, i thought so. Seth yeah. When i first saw it, im like, i dont know i really like triangles seth good luck on hills. [ light laughter ] squares is the way im going. Seth yeah. But its a big one. I mean theres been medium ones. The internet itself becoming commercialized was a huge one, and it was invented in 1962, but it really came into fore in the 1990s really with aol and some others i wrote a book on aol actually long ago but it really theres been shifts i think mobile was another one, cell phones really the iphone really in 2007. Social media was one, but this ones a big one. Seth tech is obviously this huge industry. It does seem as though unlike other huge industries of the past, there isnt a great deal of regulation. Why do you think our government is so slow to regulate tech, or are they just not interested well, when you say not a great deal, theres none seth right so that would be yeah so i guess thats another way to say it yeah none there hasnt been any regulation and the regulation that exists, you know, they cant murder people theyre under regular, you know, things the rest of us are on although some people think they are murdering people but they can do anything theres no antitrust legislation. Theres no privacy legislation in this country. Theres no algorithmic transparency it goes on and on. Its as if we had Cigarette Companies that could do whatever they want, which they did for a long time before, you know, before we found out what they were up to, and they put labels on them. They got fined people went to jail, things like that these people never had a rule on them, and theyre the richest people in the history of the World Running the companies that are the most powerful and most valuable in the world. Seth and do you think that congress is afraid of their power, not financially but their power in messaging i just think they came at a time when we cant do any legislation. We cant agree on lunch in congress, right . This is an industry, can you imagine if standard oil was around with this congress . Theyd get to run everything, and they did for a long time it just that people intervened, whether it was breaking up at t or whatever. But this group of people, they have enormous wealth, and i dont think the government is up to the task at this point. Seth donald trump recently so first joe biden said he would sign a bill banning tiktok he would. Seth and donald trump hes always done that hes always said that. Seth and donald trump had also said and had sort of come out against tiktok he did. Seth but now he seems like hes doing a 180 he had an executive order about it it was a cloddish executive order, and the reason it didnt pass at the time is because it was so bad, the way he did it. But directionally, he was correct. I never agree with him on anything, but that was correct what he was doing. Seth and yet now hes pulled a 180. Do you think its because biden has also staked out the position, and he tends to do a 180 when biden does something, or do you think he has another motive no. He has one motive thats been written about. One of the investors in bytedance, which is owner of tiktok, is one of his big donors seth so thats all it takes . Yes, that is all it takes for donald trump i dont know if youve noticed seth it usually feels like with donald trump you only need like one piece of yarn, you know yeah. Seth like its not the detective whos like this, this, this its like nope [ light laughter ] money, one yarn, money thats it thats it. Seth yeah. And now theyve got Kellyanne Conway working possibly, and theyre lobbying for it, and tiktok is trying really hard to prevent this, but its happening seth you do think it will happen 100 . Seth obviously, we have an election coming up we know about how people have used tech to influence elections. Donald trump has truth social. In your mind, do you think truth social will be a player in the election [ laughter ] no. No, i do not seth you do not at all no. No you know, theyve had troubles theyve been investigated. Its not a business. Its just ridiculous seth do you think he will have he will make some money off truth social is there a future where because, again, the man does tend to land on his feet more than you would think its like the trump water of technology i dont know what to say its just not a business seth trump water, you should have given it a chance it was delicious delicious [ laughter ] seth i mean, yes, did you pay a premium . Yes, but it was good water [ laughter ] oh, i dont know what to say. [ light laughter ] its not a business. Its not its not a business. I would be surprised if they had any revenues its just not a business, and its just run by really theyre suing each other theyre all suing each other its just a joke but everything he gets done gets put on x or twitter. I call it twitter. Im not calling it x i dont feel like it seth yeah, i appreciate that i have a hard time you know, we got a chance to talk this past summer, and i asked you a question that i want to ask you again. Im always so impressed because youve written so honestly about tech, the people in tech, some youre impressed with. Others you were previously impressed with you tend to speak very plainly about when they misbehave. And yet, they all do seem to still talk to you. Yes seth what do you attribute that to . Marc andreessen called it stockholm syndrome but, you know, i think smart people like being asked smart questions. I dont think they love talking points i knew them before i had a really lively event with mark cuban yesterday we had a great time. We argued quite a bit in front of people, but he likes it because hes a smart guy what happens is people that become sort of they get licked up and down all day, which is what happens to rich people i dont know if you notice, but it occurs. They sort of get used to that, and im not like that. And so they get upset at me. Some of them who are more insecure get upset at me seth well, its wonderful for us that they continue to talk to you because theyre always lively conversations. Theres some amazing entrepreneurs coming around Climate Change tech, health tech, all kinds of things. Including i just did an interview with steve jobs son seth well, thats very exciting the books fantastic your podcasts are great.
