All day looking at the phone and hoping not to get a message. Reporter she worked for a Jewish Agency and is helping children from israeli families cope with the terrorist attacks. Its hard for them to even go to school and be with their friends who are not really knowing or understanding whats going on with their family back home. Reporter he is studying physics and engineering. He has been so distraught, he hasnt been able to attend classes since the attack. For now, he is too focused on making a choice. Whether to stay and study or join the fight. I am worried. I am scared. Im a human. This is a very hard situation to be in. Family members of some of the american citizens who are missing in israel pleaded with israeli and u. S. Authorities to secure the release of their loved ones. Us Officials Say theres an undetermined number of americans missing and unaccounted for. The families of some of the missing americans expressed their fears and demanded action. That includes the mother of a 23yearold man who was born in berkeley. They were civilians at a music festival. They were fish in a barrel sitting in this bomb shelter. Terrorists came to the door. They were throwing grenades in, shooting machine guns. We know that his arm from the elbow down was severed, was blown off. She says her son was put in a pickup truck with two women and three other men and driven off by hamas. President biden says the u. S. Reporter Officials Say thieves are not only breaking into mailboxes but are attacking mail carriers. They say these arrests are just the beginning of a crackdown on mail theft. Unless this behavior stops, we will marshal the resources of my office to bring all violators to justice. Reporter mail carriers are increasingly becoming far gets of violent attacks. Today, there were ten arrests for mail crimes throughout the bay area, including one for attempted murder of a mail carrier. Theres a wide range of things they are getgetting. The Union President for letter carriers said they have had 31 assaults on mail carriers since february. Our carriers are frightened. Some have gone out with posttraumatic stress. Some havent returned to work. Letter carriers dont wake up in the morning wondering if someone is going to stick a gun in their face. They are being hunted. To any copycats throughout who might consider robbing a postal worker, i ask you to consider the years you will face in federal prison. A grand opening in San Francisco means a fresh start for homeless people. The mayor was among the leaders at the ribbon cut ton of the diva hotel in the citys tenderloin district. It will provide 122 permanent Supportive Housing units for adults exiting homelessness. It is more than a roof over their heads. The inmates like mark getting a second chance. She gives me purpose. I had no purpose when i came to prison. They save each other. At this point, they both have somebody that actually loves them. We are trying to gain trust. Reporter sam knows what an animal can do for a vet. She knows because shes lived it. After 13 years in the u. S. Army, sam suffered from severe ptsd. The transition is excruciating. Reporter one night she went for a drive planning to end her life. Only to drive right past the home of horses for warriors. Where vets are offered equine therapy. I jumped the fence, even though i shouldnt have. I jumped the fence. I went out. This horse leo, big old guy, came up. Its raining. He buried his head in my spine and started breathing. Except this is a prison yard with more smiles, more cuddles and more hope than usual. This man will be released any day out in. He will take his dog with him when he goes. You have to take care of the dog and be there. Its like vice versa. Changing their lives for the better. Nice weather outside today. It was awesome to get in on more of the fall weather. This is now the third storm we have seen like this nailing them while we remain dry. It may have you thinking, we are in el nino. Shouldnt we be getting heavier rainfall . This takes me back to 2015 and 2016 when we had a very strong el nino and Pacific Northwest ended up with all of the action while we had much less rainfall to the south.
