People were still dropping flowers tonight at a growing memorial outside the senators San Francisco home. Its not far from where she was born in june 1933. I met her when she was mayor. She and i were elected to congress in the same year. We did parallel service, certainly on intelligence. 1992. We were close friends. I felt that she was unfairly treated and i would be sure that i did absolutely everything i could. Not just to show my love but to slow the country that she still had more to contribute. And boy, did she. That meeting yesterday was about the future. Harmon said part of that future included dinners for women in washington. Now harman said she plans to honor that plan and call the gettogethers the difi dinners. He hopes she will be remembered for her many firsts but what she did for california and america in her positions of power. The governor said she was a, quote, lifelong mentor and role model. As the nation mourns her, the business of filling her seat begins. Governor newsom now has to appoint a replacement to serve out the remainder of her term. Previously, Governor Newsom pledged to nominate a black woman since there are currently no black women serving in the senate. Barbara lee is one of three candidates running for that seat. Earlier, he told chuck todd that he would not appoint lee to a vacant seat if senator feinstein were to die in office. He is beholden to that promise. At the same time, he has said that he will be staying out of the primary. So that leaves barbara lee out. She is the Natural Black woman to assume the role. That political consultant said one possibility is mayor london breed. But she went on to say the bottom line is newsom plans to leave the ultimate decision in the hands of voters. So far there are no plans for a memorial. The plans have not been made yet. And heres a potential complication. A man is facing felony charges following the violent attack inside a candy shop in San Francisco. It happened wednesday on west portal avenue. Investigators say the stores owner asked him to move after he was lingering on a bench outside the candy store. She said thats when he shoved her, punched her in the head and pushed her to the ground. That attack caught on surveillance camera from a near by business. A store employee was also injured as well as an 80yearold customer. The fourth person was also hurt. He appeared before a judge pleading not guilty. Hes now being held without bail. Police arrested a man for the murder of tupac shakur. Shakur died after a shooting in vegas. It was triggered by a fight that happened that night but now Las Vegas Police say they have their man. The grand jury indicted duane davis for murdering the rapper. It came after they murdered davis home seizing electronic photographs and a company of his memoir in which he wrote about the shooting. Now investigators say davis didnt pull the trigger but he did provide the gun and coordinated the deadly driveby. Authorities say other men in the car that night are all dead.
