Lets start right with kari this morning with a look at that for us. Kari . Yeah, a lot of us in the valleys are not feeling the high winds but i am monitoring the Mountain Wind gusts that have been up to about 58 Miles Per Hour in the last hour especially in the north bay. With the high fire danger, the low humidity and the high winds will make it very dangerous for any sparks that could spread rapidly and were going to continue to have this wind advisory, those high winds, through at least this evening. Were also watching some high waves along the coast, so well talk more about all of this in the forecast coming up. Mike, are you seeing any issues for the morning commute . Kari, one crash im concerned with. There are a number of crashes but the one im going to follow is in the south bay. Green sensors dominate the map obviously. Its 4 31. To the south bay, north 101. Your typical commute direction at story reports of a crash. Major rear end damage reported but no major injuries. Blocking the slow lane. We will track it. Back to you, marcus. This morning stayathome orders are now in effect in three bay area counties. Contra costa, santa clara counties, new rollback went into effect last night. So also included in this is San Francisco. Outdoor venues in the castro yesterday started closing up after 9 00 p. M. Just to make sure they stopped operations by 10 00. Those bars and restaurants already struggling. They say they are now facing even more difficult road ahead. And another blow to parents, public playgrounds will be temporarily closed as part of the stayathome order. California surpassing texas once again in its overall number of covid19 cases. Right now there are now more than 1. 34 million confirmed infections and more than 30,000 added just yesterday. A third of the number from l. A. County which added more than 10,000 new infections. A new record for the county. The San Francisco chronicle putting the dire situation into perspective. According to the paper one out of every ten californians who got tested for covid19 last week tested positive. Those numbers to the states Positivity Rate up 3. 5 compared with the previous week. The stayathome order is not only affecting businesses and restaurants but the legal system. Contra costa county courts in martinez, pittsburg, richmond and walnut creek, will be closed starting today. Those courtrooms are closed to the public. Jury trials are suspended and jurors who were called for jury duty before january 11th did not need to report. All clerk offices will also be closed to the public. Yosemite National Park is scaling back. Starting today the park will only be only for day activities. Services will be limited. Shuttles will not operate. Day use starts at 8 00 a. M. And it will end at 5 00 p. M. Alcatraz is also closing to meet new restrictions. The rock is now off limits to visitors. Ferry service will stop. For those struggling most to make it in the bay the new shelter at home order may provide perhaps what they need most, more time. Most bay area agencies are pulling back on the eviction enforcement and a lot of those cases time may be shortlived. As soon as the end of january eviction moratorium, those groups are holding online forums to help people stay in their homes and know their rights. Organizers say too many families face serious challenges. These are families that are barely able to make to eke by a living. Barely able to put food on their table and to pay their rent. Last nights meeting helped inform people about how the eviction process works. Some fear in march there may be an eviction tsunami. Thats when landlords can actually resume taking delinquent tenants to court. The Santa Clara County is hoping to be the newest place to cap food delivery in the bay area. County supervisors will consider a temporary Ordinance Cap from Third Party Companies like uber eats and door dash. Theres no specific cap amount just yet. Supervisors will vote on that cap tomorrow. San francisco, santa clara and berkeley have set limits on delivery fees. Some believe too many transit agencies operate in the bay area and its time to bring them all under one roof. Today they have a chance to express it when the metropolitan Transit Commission holds its regular Fare Integration Task force meeting. Now this is the same group that developed the clipper card. Some argue the pandemic is all the proof you need. The bay areas 24 transit systems should be overhauled with centralized scheduling, fare collection and distribution. Others say its hardly that easy or even feasible. Todays meeting is being held remotely. A live look at Golden Gate Bridge and if youre anywhere near the coastline today, do not turn your back on the water. The National Weather service is warning Hazardous Conditions are expected today and tomorrow across the Northern California coastline. Swales could reach as high as 25 feet today. Theyre advising if you do need to be near the coast today, be extra vigilant. Theyre talking about this friday, kari, dont turn your back to the water at all. The threat is real. Especially for the rogue waves coming up on the coastline you may not be expecting. You do need to be mindful of that. Were also watching out for our high fire danger and looking at things like the vegetation. How dry is that . How high are the winds . And those things coming together create a very high fire condition and fire danger for today especially for the north bay as we get the high Winds Continuing throughout the morning. A lot of fingers crossed certainly around this one. A couple other big stories to start out your week f. Youre a capital one credit card customer and looking to do one of those buy now pay later clicks online, well, youre probably going to be out of luck because capital one is barring customers who use its credit cards for using those types of transactions. You go on line, something is 200. Instead of putting it on your card you can do the im going to buy it now and pay in installments. Capital one thinks those are less regulated, maybe higher risk, and will bar customers from doing that. They have 62 million credit card accounts. That has been a very fast growing part of the market. Now a lot of that spending is going to go to our furry friends. Meteorologist kari hall has been tracking that and conditions we could expect today. Kari . Yes, so there are several things im watching from the high winds to the high waves and we are also going to have that high fire danger. Lets start out with the wind because this wind advisory continues until 11 00 this morning. And were expecting those wind gusts in some of our mountains to reach 60plus miles an hour. Weve already seen that and although a lot of us in the valleys are not getting those high winds we are expecting the potential for some of those high winds were seeing aloft to start to make it down to some of our valleys as we go throughout the morning and so that could bring down tree limbs and power lines. We could see in some spots any spa small sparks or even a cigarette butt could cause flames to spread quickly. This continues until at least 5 00 today. We have such low vegetation, the humidity and the vegetation, that its more like october compared to december when we look at how dry all of the brush is out there across the bay area. As we look at our wind speed forecast, these numbers show you the wind speed forecast in Miles Per Hour at 10 00. Were looking at winds still up to about 25 to 35 Miles Per Hour especially in the north bay, but the winds will calm down as we go into this afternoon as well as this evening. So we are mostly watching this morning for the time that well see some of those highest wind gusts. Looking at our highs for today were mostly in the mid to upper 60s with our warmest temperatures in the north bay and then as we go through the forecast some rain approaching the pacific northwest. Well miss out on all of that as we go throughout the week its still dry for the bay area. Right now, mike, youve been watching the commute. How is it looking now . Still area for all of us out here. There was an issue at the bay bridge. A toll plaza camera. Taking a live look we dont see a problem. Lanes are flowing smoothly. There may be a fenderbender in the area. No slowing here or on the sensors as we look at the map. Its all green. Well keep tracking that. Right now the issue is debris, westbound 80 right around the approach to the 580 and the richmondsan rafael bridge. Someone with maybe a flat tire. Watch for debris. No major issues.
