Senate but expect that to happen. Yesterday on the midday news, we were able to say that biden had confirmed that yellen was, indeed, his pick for treasury secretary. Wall street has suspected that for more than a week. She is one of the reasons the stock market has been doing so well. But this morning, as you saw on nbc bay area in that special report a short time ago the president elect made all of this official. The team im announcing today will play a Critical Role in shaping our plan for action starting on day one and move fast to revive this economy. They are going to help me help us, help the country lay out my build back better plan. Its my great honor to have this opportunity to serve you and the american people. And to join this incredible Economic Team at this moment of great challenge for our country. Reporter president elect biden has named neera tanden as the director of office of management and budget. Now, this nomination probably will not get through the republican dominated senate as tanden is vocal in our opposition of republicans on twitter and one count says she has deleted more than a thousand tweets of her. But you can find criticism. Here she is praising Stacey Abrams for calling mcconnell moscow mitch. You can mine a persons twitter and the defense people are giving. Infectious disease specialist expects the United States to achieve herd immunity by next summer if enough people get that shot which he estimates will have to be more than 70 of the population in order to stop transmission. This decency isnt going away. We will continue to see it crop up from time to time. I think its too well established in the human population. We have just too much travel, too much social interaction for it to, you know, go away. Its going to take a long, long time to get it internationally around the world back in the box and we are never really going to completely get it back into box, so we will continue to see cases crop up from time to time. Dr. Rutherford there says the safety profile for the two vaccines, very high right now, which should be encouraging news for anyone with concerns about whether or not to receive those shots. Right now, Health Officials are keeping an eye on the possible surge the next two or three weeks following thanksgiving. Millions of travel, despite pleas from local leaders and governor gavin newsom says drastic measures will need to take place to get things under control. What do we do with these results . Math is sequential and builds a lot what kids have learned and making sure for the students who have fallen behind we identify that and give students the support they knee that is important. Reporter the mother says lollie needs to be in the classroom and is one of those students. From beginning of last year when the schools closed she wasnt able to do it and she tried as hard as she could but it was incredibly frustrating for her. Reporter compared to 2019 the most affected in 2020 . Elementary grades, Technology Students transitioning from fifth to sixth grade. Least affected . Reading seems very promising, very on par with the Normal School year. Reporter we talked to fourth graders in berkeley heights, new jersey, who say they also miss being in class fulltime. Why do you think its easier to learn in school versus at home . In school the teacher can help you easier. If youre at home they cant see what youre doing or if youre doing it wrong. Its easier in the classroom because, like, you dont get distracted. Reporter what are your worries as a parent . Worried that what are they missing . So much more independent the quality of the learning the same. While the city looked at test scores for more than 4 Million Students research say data is missing for schools that werent able to test students because of covid19. Students unable to have wifi and unable to to toest remotely schools not able to test at all. The missing data can mean we are underestimating the impact. Reporter for now, Remote Learning is a quick fix for lollie and millions of students like her across the country but anjelica says that may come with longterm effects and learning loss for students who arent thriving outside of the classroom. We need to get creative with solutions. There has to be an answer because just calling it a wash for a whole year of learning for those children is just completely not acceptable.
