Were already starting to see that spread in temperatures and as you head out the door in antioch mid 60s by early in the afternoon. So, we start out cool, but its going to be a hotter day. Well talk about this and some extreme heat for this weekend. Thats coming up in a few minutes. Mike, i know you dont want to hear that this early in the morning. Yeah, i dont want to hear extreme and heat together. Were looking over towards the roadways, kari. An extremely nice drive and this is across the dumbarton bridge near the toll plaza and not a problem as far as the Speed Sensors go and well let you know if there are any other complications and getting towards the bay bridge we may and right now back to you. Thats right. Breaking news that were following. A fastmoving wildfire burning dangerously close to homes in Southern California. These are live pictures from the scene of the lake fire. It is burning near Santa Clarita just north of los angeles. This fire exploded from 400 acres to an estimated 10,000 acres in just about two hours. Being fueled by high winds and dry conditions that theyre having in Southern California, hundreds of homes, in fact, are evacuated in this area. Officials have set up shelters for people in parking lots telling evacuees to actually stay in their cars. Firefighters do have a chance to make a little progress on this fire today as temperatures in that area could cool down to the 70 degree mark. Could give them a good break that they need right now. Have to act fast. That heat wave is expected to start up again on friday. Right. Well, you may have more dining, workout and personal care options in san jose. As the city looks to expand that outdoor space for business to serve clients outside. Kris sanchez is live for us in one of the parking lots that is about to look a lot different. Kris . If you live in san jose, youre probably familiar with willow glen and this is the parking lot right behind lincoln avenue where all those businesses are and it is one of the first areas to open for that expanded outdoor availability for businesses. So, lots like this one and other open areas will also be available to any business within a quarter mile from here. Thats a large number of restaurants, hair and nail salons, gyms and personal training studios studios. City fees wont be among them. Were waiving all the fees to do it and help more businesses to be able to stay open and really to survive. So, here are all of the areas now available under san joses new expanded alfresco plan. The one around the hammer theater and city parks and surface lots and street business areas where a lot of restaurants are already serving customers outside. For some businesses, it wont make business sense as one salon owner tells us she cant offer her clients their favorite services outside like blowouts and color and some communities around the bay area have scaled back some of their outdoor business areas because it just wasnt making sense for the businesses there. Some of the businesses found that customers werent showing up because of limited parking. Couldnt access those businesses. So, well have to see how that plays out. In marin cases during the backlog that occurred during the glitch last month. Confirmed cases approaching 600,000. But as weve been reporting, hospitalizations continue to fall down more than 20 over the last two weeks. Now, the number of hospitalizati hospitalizations actually the lowest number it has been across the state in six weeks. After spiking in july on the 21st, they dropped 25 . Icu numbers are also down. Cases in Santa Clara County have also decreased since matching its alltime high of 185. Heres the ucsf disease physician. Were on the right track. Thats for sure. Ucsf weve also seen that decrease. Lets get to it as we make our plans hour by hour looking at all our microclimates. Look at where you are. We take it through noon and concord is at 90 degrees already. The sevenday forecast is also up at the bottom of the screen, i know there is a lot to look at. Check out fremont at lunchtime where it is 83 degrees and we see some 90s as we go into the afternoon. Notice the clouds starting to surge in as we go into the afternoon and the evening and also still going to be really hot with temperatures peaking in some spots over 100 degrees and then well start out tomorrow morning with clouds and also very warm temperatures. The surge in the clouds that were seeing actually coming from the remnants of what was hurricane that is now moving into Southern California and you can see all those lightning strikes off the coast. We are expecting the potential of a few isolated thunderstorms just to the south of the bay area. I think as we go into the day tomorrow, werer are ju ejust g see the clouds and higher humidity. When you combine high humidity with hot temperatures, it will make it feel uncomfortable. When you see these temperatures for the inland areas, look at this. It is going to be humid and 104 degrees tomorrow. So, be prepared to take lots of breaks and also take it easy in this heat. Mike, how is it looking right now for the morning commute. Its cool. We had heard about a disabled vehicle around the toll plaza. It sounds just past the toll plaza because chp is escorting that vehicle and slowing off the bridge and bay front of the bridge. The remains of several military members have been recovered after that training mishap that happened in Southern California. Last month 15 marines and a navy sailor were doing a water Training Exercise at San Clemente Island near san diego. Their water vehicles started to fill with water. Eight marines were rescued and seven of them and the navy sailor were lost at sea. Their remains are now at a base in delaware. One Family Member says even though it is a sad occasion, its actually a relief to have answers. Of a relief and its not hes at. We know now for have answers and, obviously, its not the answer that we wanted, but, you know, its very in a way comforting to know we have those answers. The military says its still investigating the cause of the accident. A new popup testing site now open at the u. S. mexico border.
