A good pool day or whatever you can do to stay cool today. We are going to take a live look outside in walnut creek and look at our temperature trend for today. Well see it starting out with some low 60s. As we go into the early afternoon its going to start to warm up. As we get a look at all of our highs today, check this out. Were back to those 90s again for the inland areas, and so today, once ag starting to heat up. Even hotter tomorrow. Well talk more about this and whats ahead coming up in the full microclimate forecast. Mike, youve been watching the roads. Whats going on early this morning . The big note, kari, basically all the overnight construction has been halted because of the curfews in place. Everybodys safety i believe waved off caltrans work. Thats what i observed as far as what was reported and is happening now, which is nothing. The map shows you no problems on the roadways, which is great. The overnight closure of the posey two has been called off specifically because of the curfew. You can travel between oakland and alameda if youre allowed to. Youre not allowed to if youre not an emergency worker. Back to you. Mike, thank you. Breaking overnight a dangerous night in vallejo. This is as authorities tried to chase down looting suspects at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. In another case officers opened fire. Today in the bays bob redell is live for us outside of the walgreens in vallejo with details on the police shooting. Do we know if anyone was hit . Reporter that we do not know. We know that shots were fired by a police officer. Vallejo Police Confirmed this, and this is information we were able to confirm earlier through Napa County Sheriffs Office who has been assisting the Vallejo Police in overnight operations given the fact there is a curfew in effect. This shooting happened around 12 30 at the walgreens here on redwood and broadway. We believe a person was looting the store, was confronted by police, rammed the Unmarked Police vehicle with their vehicle, was shot at and then sped off. The condition of the officer who was rammed is unknown. There was a chase. The suspect was caught. As you can see in this video was placed in an ambulance at pacific and san pablo avenue. Its not clear if that person was hit by the Police Gunfire or hurt in some other manner. Their condition, again, is unknown. Were going to in the next half hour show you video of a police chase that took placere. That was the one that went up to speeds of 100 miles an hour, a couple looters looting a Sporting Goods store down the street from here. They were eventually caught as well. Well tell you how that ended up in about half an hour. We have been doing a lot of driving around in downtown vallejo looking for instances of looting. Its not like anything we saw last night in san leandro. However, speaking with the Vallejo Police department, they know of dozens of instances that took place overnight. Were just not seeing it. That curfew in effect from 8 00 last night. Bob redell, today in the bay. Bob, thank you. Curfews across more than a dozen bay area cities is still in effect at this hour. Most will expire in the 5 00 hour and all of bay area major cities have one in place. Many curfews are extended through at least the rest of the week. Authorities in Alameda County arrested more than 100 people last night after that curfew took effect. About 80 of those arrests happened in oakland where no one is supposed to be out and assembling past 8 00 in the evening. Most of the arrests were people gathered downtown near broadway and 14th. Oakland police say some protesters tried to assault officers when they were told it was past the curfew. After 8 00 p. M. Officers were having rocks and bottles thrown at them, assaults against officers. We announced multiple times unlawful assembly. The number of arrests represents a fraction of the number of people who are protesting yesterday in oakland. So that is worth mentioning. It was about 15,000 people who were protesting yesterday. The group ended up outside city hall and from there a Splinter Group then headed to Police Headquarters only to be driven back by flash bangs and tear gas. In the south bay the damage from looters is still adding up and theres still a lot of cleanup to be done. Today in the bays thom jensen is live for us in san jose and, thom, were hearing that leaders may be ready to declare a state of emergency. Reporter they may, marcus, and they may decide later on today, theyre scheduled to decide at least here in san jose, the city council, whether to keep the curfew in place here in place for the full week. It was ordered on sunday after violence erupted. Fires and looting and vandalism, like the vandalism to this bank right here, this chase bank were in front of. They put this sevenday mandatory curfew, 8 30 to 5 30, in place. Late night, Early Morning violence has mostly been curtailed since it went into place. Some protesters have voiced concerns saying the rules prohibit free speech but others disagree and police chief eddie garcia says its all about safety for citizens and for everyone in uniform. This Police Department wants peace. We want to continue to have dialogue with our community. I dont want anyone harmed and i want my officers to return to their homes safely every night. Mayor sam liccardo saying earlier he didnt think it would remain in place for the full seven days, but, again, that will be up to the city Council Making that vote later on today. Its going to be a warmer day for a lot of us except for the inland areas. We are going to see a big ramp up in our temperatures as we get a look at our temperature trend in concord. Were going to start there. For the east bay well feel that heat today. As we look at our temperature trend in the low 60s this morning as you get ready to head out. As i advise on these days it will be really hot, whatever Outdoor Activities you have, get it done early. The sevenday forecast is up at the bottom of the screen. Look at our high temperatures for today. Were going to reach up to 96 degrees. Up to 98 in antioch. Half moon bay will stay in the low 70s while palo alto heats up in San Francisco, up to 80 degrees in the Mission District and north bay highs up to 96 degrees today in napa. So we are going to start to really feel that but tomorrow will be even hotter and as our heat peaks, we will see our temperatures in some spots reach over 100 degrees. The good thing is that it doesnt last long and by the week were seeing cooler air coming in along with some showers and looks like that rain mostly stays just to our north across the north bay, but were all going to see those clouds and the cooler temperatures along with gusty winds. Look at these temperatures over the next few days. Were going from the mid90s today and then back to the 70s in time for the weekend. Mike, youve been watching the commute. Hopefully its not as crazy as this forecast. And lets look at the roadways. Overall everything looks great. All the way over on the right side of your screen youre going to see the rare row coming in out of the altamont pass. Theres slowing and that went from yellow to orange as you approach grant line within the last ten minutes. Highway 84 through livermore and the folks coming down off highway 4. Closer to 7 00. Right now circle the area where eastbound 4 at bailey, the off ramp, a fire reported under the freeway. No problem for drivers and fire crews are there. Flowers, posters and artwork all that line the intersection where floyd was pinned to the ground by that officers knee saying he could not breathe. His final moments right there.
