We are in work eight, heading into our shelter at home order, now, if youre feeling quarantine fatigue, you are not alone. Shane owens, a psychologist, and assistant director of campus mental health, at Farmingdale State College in new york, about what is normal, and tips how to stay meltly healthy. Here in the bay area, were in the eighth week of sheltering at home. How normal is this feeling of going stir crazy . I actually would be kind of concerned if you werent feeling stir crazy at this point. We are not built for eight weeks, even two weeks of being inside the way that we are now the thing that im most concerned about is that people go out and they dont get sick, because theyre taking the appropriate measures, staying six feet apart from one another, Wearing Masks. And every time we go out and we dont get sick, were emboldened to think that maybe this will not happen to us. But its important to remember, that these social distancing things are what are keeping us from getting sick. So a certain amount of anxiety is adaptive, too much, not adaptive. Its important that you engage in things that you find bring you closer to one another, in terms of your psychology, but not in terms of your physical. Mentally, if youre feeling tapped out and you feel like you might be on the verge of a breakdown, get outside and enjoy the outdoors, but keep your social distance. Now, if youre feeling socially deprived, and for your sanity, you just need to meet up with someone you love, or some close friends, we have seen people do it, they met up in parking lots and driveways and set up their lawn chairs but at least six to 12 feet apart, and theyre Wearing Masks so you can do that, for your sanity. Weve talked a lot about social distancing, in the beginning, and now, its also important, if you do go out, to maintain your physical distance, even when you want to socialize. Back to you guys. Okay, good advice. Thank you. Nice to take a walk with someone if you keep your space. Thanks, janelle. Carnival cruise lines plans to set sail in San Francisco.
