As covid19 infections spread, President Trump is occurring a strict travel ban on millions of americans in the coronavirus hotspots in the northeast. It would affect people in new york, new jersey and part of connecticut for two weeks. The president believes people leaving the region are spreading covid19 to other parts of the country. Theyre having problems in florida, a lot of new yorkers going down there. This would be an enforceable quarantine. Legal experts say its not clear whether the president has the authority to enfirst the travel ban. Medical experts say it may not be effective. The president s remarks as he went to norfolk, virginia, to watch the departure of the uss comfort. Shutting them down to keep people safe. Parks and beaches across the bay area were off limits. The hope was to avoid crowds we saw last weekend. There were mobs in some areas. Does it look like people are taking the order seriously and staying home this weekend . Reporter its starting to sprinkle again here in San Francisco, so its probably not the kind of weather that a lot are of people want to be out in anyway. Last weekend there were far too many people gathering in spots like this. So theyve made some changes. This is the parking lot. Theyve essentially closed it off. And theyve made it very clear whats not available. Getting in a quick run or a bit of fresh air continues along the marina green in San Francisco, but the parking lot here is not ai an option. The idea is to get people not to dri drive in after people flooded coastal towns and beaches last weekend. Near montara state beach, cars parked along 101. The deputies told them to move. Last week, as youve already heard about through many different avenues and venues, there were quite a few people on the coast, you know, trying to escape this. Meantime, San Mateo County parks decided to close parks and parking lots after seeing a big jump in people driving in from out of town, using trails and making it hard to keep a distance. San Francisco Police said they would be out at parks and popular gathering spots. At ocean beach, no parking either, near beach chalet. But people did find spots across the street. A few neighbors said people seem to keep a distance, but not always on sidewalks and narrow trails. And back here live, you can see people are walking around, and the city said in their press conference they are going to be keeping an eye on side streets to make sure they werent get being clogged with cars.
