And then we look at the wider view, we are still seeing the storm spinning across Southern California. It was so busy with the storms and rain and its not good for travel. Highway 101 in palo alto were starting out good here as we get a chance to dry out. Its really chilly and a mix of sun and clouds all throughout the day. A live look outside in dublin. Ill keep you up to date in case there are issues on the roads this morning. A horrible story to report. Three teens are dead after a christmas night crash. Today in the bays bob redell just got on the scene. Do we know anything about the victims or how this unfolded . Reporter kira and marcus, a lot more details, five kids in the car, all of them teenaged, could have been 16, 17 years of age, four boys, one girl, three of the boys including the driver died here at the scene. Two of them brothers. The other boy and girl were both taken to the hospital with what has been described as major injuries. Now the accident happened a couple blocks behind me. Were here on foot hit road near the entrance of the castle with country club. This happened just before 10 00 last night. The five of them were in a hyundai sedan, possibly an elantra, heading southbound on foothill road. When they crossed the center line, went through a power pole and wrapped around a tree. The car wrapped around a tree. Chp doesnt know what caused the crash. They do not believe alcohol was involved. They dont know what caused the crash. Sadly, again, three of the kids died. The other two at the hospital with major injuries. Stoma some of the parents showed up at the scene. Chp tells us they were trying to get information. All these kids are from the trivalley, that part is not clear but they do believe they are local and were being kept away because the power poles were knocked down, or at least one was. Pg e is trying to get the power lines up. This section of foothill road at the entrance of country club will be shut down, they believe, until around 4 00 tonight. As far as the damage left behind, it will take some time to prepare. Were south of the border with pleasanton. Were in unincorporate d valley. Bob redell, today in the bay. Terrible news, bob. Thank you for that report. A suspect is behind bars in connection to the stabbing of a 49ers brother. Police in nashville hunted down and arrested this suspect. Michael mosley moments after his capture. Hes accused of stabbing three people including beathard. Police tracked him down in a vacant home he was hiding out in in a rural part of tennessee. Boom, all of a sudden. I happened to be out here. Took it away real quick. Police in nashville say on saturday mosley made unwanted advances on a female friend of beathard and his former high school classmate. It apparently escalated outside the bar. Both of them were stabbed and killed. Nashville police had asked for the publics help identifying the man seen at the bar from that night and later named mosley as the suspect. In the east bay four people are recovering this morning, all victims of a shooting. It happened at a Holiday Party just after 6 00 last night on 34th avenue in oakland. Its not clear if police took anyone into custody. Those victims conditions range from stable to serious. President trump is taking out time during christmas to attack california governor gavin newsom. The president taking aim yesterday at the states homeless problem. The tweet read governor gavin n. Has done a really bad job on taking care of the Homeless Population in california. If he cant fix the problem, the federal government will get involved. The homeless rate in california is up 16 in the past year alone. More than 140,000 californians are homeless. Coming up in half an hour our thom jensen will have a live report on the fight. The recent deadly and destructive wildfires across the state are causing turmoil in the property insurance market. Thousands of homeowners have lost their policies in the last few years. In fact, data shows that state farm and all state declined to renew roughly 350,000 policies in an area thats high risk for wildfires. This is since 2015. Thats according to the state department of insurance. In just the past two years wildfires caused more than 25 billion in damages. There could be a granny unit boom in california come the new n the units called accessory dwelling units or adus, go into effect january 1st. There will no longer be a lot requirement or how far it has to be from the street. Chp issued some advisories saying some of the bridges are quite windy out there and because of that we have some dangerous waves along the coast. The National Weather service issuing a beach hazard statement. I know its cool and windy out there, not a lot of people will be heading to the beach. If you have family in town, well, were also going to see those waves that may be crashing up a little bit higher. We may have some breakers up to 22 feet and then were starting out this morning cold air. Santa rosa, temperatures at 36 degrees. 48 in napa. A big difference there. We are seeing some temperatures in oakland at 46 and san jose. 49 degrees. As you head out the door to antioch, very chilly. A mother says her daughter was expelled from school all because her mom complained about air pollution on the playground. Now other parents are saying theyve been threatened to shut up or get out. Parents and students say dust storms often blow through the play area at the new Stratford School in fremont because the private school which opened just last year was built right next door to a concrete plant. We saw dust storms from the top of the tower on our playground. Our Investigative Unit found the plant next to the school is making hundreds times more concrete than it had reported it was making. Tiny particles and concrete dust can harm the lungs of children. When parents complained crystal says the principal expelled her daughter. She was expelled. Because of what i did. Stratford School Officials refused to comment but sent us a statement saying they paid for testing at the school which showed air quality informs line with state standards for a majority of school days.
