Some of the people knew they would be arrested so they locked themselves in a tent in front of city hall, but you can see from the video around midnight, police moved in and carried people out. Protesters and some homeless were put in handcuffs before being escorted out. They had been demonstrating all sunday claiming the city is not doing enough for the homeless community. Officers came back to clear out protesters after the media left. Right on schedule, the police come at 10 00 and what they do at 10 00, they say oh, you guys are past the park hours, you cant have any structures up. They come in with police force and tear things town. And thats exactly what just happened. Reporter the people who say they are forced to live on the streets, they believe they have a right to protest in front of city hall, and they say that housing is a human right and of course expected to talk to city leaders about the arrests later today and this comes at a time when President Trump also says he plans on it dealing with the homeless crisis in california, with his own plans. The man in charge of the house investigation says that they may call even more witnesses, this as new allegations come to light against the Top Republican in the inquiry. Hey, a California Republican actually who was front and center during those hearings last week now facing some allegations of his own, similar to President Trump. California republican devon nunez told fox he may sue and cannot answer allegations he met with ukraines former top prosecutor about investigating the bidens, the same issue facing President Trump. These new allegations came from the attorney of a Rudy Giuliani associate who has been indicted. Giuliani is the president s personal attorney. Nunez is important because he is the Top Republican on the committee in charge of impeachment hearings. Turns out those hearings may not be over. We dont foreclose the possibility of more depositions, more hearings. We are in the process of getting more documents all the time. We need the emails and paperwork that we have subpoenaed from the state department and from the white house. Reporter republicans are preparing for the president to be impeached. Marin voters will decide on a new tax to help revent wildfires. Supervisors approved a tenyear proposal. How much you would pay would be based on the size of your home. Concern is growing among people who have lost their homes in the latest California Wildfires that will never receive any compensation. Some 70,000 claims have been filed against pg e which is blamed for sparking several deadly fires. Because the utility is now in bankruptcy protection, some of the latest fire victims are concerned the wait for a payout may never end, in part due to the legal entanglements holding up the establishment of a compensation fund. Here is a look at the wide view of the satellite imagery, whats coming our way because well have a cold front dropping in tomorrow, and then all of the rain associated with this storm system out in the pacific coming down as well, going into the next couple of days. And so once again were dry today. Today is your day to prep and get ready for this rain that will be moving in because we could see it as early as 3 00 tomorrow afternoon in the north bay, and approaching San Francisco and oakland, and then it gets heavier as we go into tomorrow afternoon and to the evening, for areas like palo alto, hayward, pleasanton. Here we are at 9 30 tomorrow night and were seeing some heavy rain coming in. Its also dumping down snow in the sierra. If youre traveling, today is your day to travel, and then as we go into wednesday, were still looking at some scattered showers that may come along with some thunder and lightning, also some hail for the bay area, as it still is snowing in the sierra. Well see the system winding down Late Wednesday night and giving us a break thanksgiving with cold and windy conditions. We get about half an inch of rain in concord and there may be higher amounts along the coast and in some of our upper elevations up to an inch to inch and a half. As far as sierra snow we could see two to possibly four feet of snow above 2,000 feet, and we could even see some light area dusting on bay area peaks as well because of how cold the system will be. Look at the temperatures inland, we are talking about highs in the low 50s. Thanksgiving friday. Saturday we take a break from the rain, but we still have some very cold temperatures, dropping down to freezing. San francisco well see the breezy winds today, highs in the low 60s, get out there and enjoy it because you see whats coming our way. Mike, youve been tracking a couple of issues in the trivalley. Ive been following along with your friday report because we have the outdoor Christmas Tree lighting and parade in downtown san jose. San jose and the rest of the south bay look great, typical slowing northbound 101 around capital expressway and again from 680 north. Thanksgiving week a loft folks left by airplane friday. There will be more traffic on the roads. More slowing southbound 680 as well as westbound 84 toward a crash which is over on the shoulder on 84 just west of 680 so that may be an issue folks headed to or from niles. The dublin interchange is great. More slowing 880 is okay jamming up toward the san mateo toll plaza. From the toll plaza west we see a smooth drive just approaching the toll plaza got my eyes peeled for any reports from chp, even a fender bender or something on the shoulder to codistract folks. Bay bridge toll plaza metering lights turned on 5 15 and the backup and you can see visible movement and well take that, thats something from the oakland side. Look at this sunrise this morning as we wake up and head out the door in the south bay, willow glen well be greeted with chilly temperatures, some mid40s through about 8 00 and rideses into the low 60s. All the microclimates reach into the 60s this afternoon and once again we better enjoy it and its also the time to prep for this incoming storm that will bring in some rain, starting late tomorrow afternoon in the north bay, and then in the south bay tomorrow evening. So well be tracking the timing and a look ahead to your thanks giving travel forecast, but mike, right now the concern is for the trivalley commute. We have a new report just past the dublin interchange, west 580 moves smoothly until were cut off by that view with the roads, the overpass and the trees just above the dublin interchange. Traffic flowed steadily over the last ten minutes and continues up the dublin interchange foothill just past that there may be a crash and a crash on highway 84 off 680, so far the trivalley flow is moving nicely though, so is hayward, just boggs down toward west 92 at the san mateo bridge. All the westbound commutes starting to pick up volume but no major problems the toll plaza metering lights are on and lightning for the left approach lanes. Back to you. Thank you very much, mike. 6 31 right now. An east Bay Community is in mourning after someone shot and killed two young boys. Now police are looking for the shooter. Bob redell is live outside of Union City Police department this morning. These boys are young, just 11 and 14 years old, bob . Reporter very young, unfortunately, laura. As we mentioned Union City Police have not yet made any arrests. They are looking into the possibility the shooting might have been gang related and possibly linked to another double shooting that took place last wednesday about a half mile away from where these two boys were murdered. On saturday morning around 1 30, the boys known as sean and kevin were sitting in a van in the parking lot at sorels Elementary School in union city when someone opened fire. The yellow markers you should be able to see on your tv screen were put down by police, they give you a sense of the number of shell casings and therefore the shots fired at the scene. Last night the community gathered at the school to remember the two children and hear from the aunts of one of the boys. Know our hearts continue to grieve for them. We know this is not their final stop. We continue to love them and miss them and feel the pain and sorrow in our hearts for them. Reporter School Counsellor tells us both boys had at one point attended the Elementary School. One had just graduated from there. She described them as sweet kids. One of two men recently arrested in connection to the Deadly House Party shooting in orinda is scheduled to appear in court. The 29yearold is due in court for arraignment. He faces a weapons possession charge tied to the shooting. It happened during a crowded party at an airbnb where people died. Two other suspects are in custody, but prosecutors so far have not charged any with crimes tied to the gunfire. 6 33. St. Marys College Students concerned about their daytoday safety plan to communicate their concerns later today, comes in the wake of recent situations where students believe the school does not do enough to keep them safe in the loop. One was a perceived threat of violence that turned out to be harmless. Another an overnight grass fire firefighters knocked down in time. Students launched a petition calling for change and planning to hold a sitin today at noon. Rail commuterness in the north bay have something to look forward to come the new year. Smarttrain also run an expanded schedule. Starting in january Weekday Service will get a boost. Also service will start earlier on weekends the new schedule will provide more connections to ferry and bus service in marin and sonoma counties. The stock room is full of food. Today is the first day of that thanksgiving Food Distribution but theres one major problem were having. Theyre short about 2600 turkeys. Sacred heart is asking the community for help bringing turkeys to the Donation Center at first and alma. The executive director says many people are being forgotten in the bay area. This is one of the wealthiest communities in the country, and understanding that there are tens of thousands, over 100,000 folks in this valley struggling just to make ends meet and put food on the table that are facing homelessness and other types of issues is something we should all be figuring out ways we can contribute to. Volunteers will be accepting turkeys today through wednesday. Money can also be donated online. Nice thing to do. We want to thank everyone who came out to join us this weekend at safeway, across the bay area, our annual feed the need food drive off to such a great start. Were going to see that storm system coming in from the north, starting out late tomorrow afternoon, in the north bay first with some scattered showers potentially getting heavier as we go into the evening, by 8 00 to 9 00 were seeing it move into the south bay, and then after that, it turns more scattered, very cold temperatures, and were going to see the potential of some of our bay area mountain peaks getting some snow, thats what that is showing on wednesday morning for mt. Hamilton, also in parts of the north bay, maybe even mt. Diablo will have some snow on the upper elevations, and then as we go into wednesday afternoon into the evening, scattered showers and we may even see some thunderstorms along with some hail before this system tapers off in time for thanksgiving. Were going to see this first round of rain bring us anywhere from about a half of an inch in rain in parts of the inland east bay to threequarters of an inch of rain in the north bay, possibly even over an inch of rain in some areas where those higher rain bands will set up, and well also see snow starting out late tomorrow afternoon, the winter storm warning goes into effect and we could see that storm and some snow continuing into early friday morning, anywhere from two to four feet of snow. For the bay area, we do still have a high fire danger today, and then significantly cooler going into tomorrow, as that rain moves in. Off and on showers from tomorrow evening into wednesday, and then on thursday, right in time for thanksgiving, we see that rain taking a break, but it will also be very chilly. We could drop down to freezing going into the weekend. And for San Francisco we expect some low 60s today but then 50s the whole rest of the week. Well look forward to that. This rain could potentially help us in regards to fire danger this is possibly the last day we have to deal with the fire concerns. Lets look back at the fire season that we had this year and of course it was a bad season, any time we see large fires develop. Now our normal fire season goes from june to september, but because of climate change, theres been extended about 75 days and they have become more destructive, so taking a look at the kincade fire, it started late in the season, november 23rd to finally some containment november 6th and we had more than 77,000 acres burned, thats 121 square miles. So looking back at the fire season across the state, we had 250,000 acres burned across the state just this year but our worst fire season was last year, 2018 we had 1. 8 million acres burned across the state so it is good to see that we are seeing the end of this fire season. We will have to be careful today. Then going into the next couple of days, we have rain coming in, but what does that mean in terms of how the rest of the season will look .
