But thank you all for being here and i thank you all for the sacrifice you have made fighting overseas, while we are at home fighting over popeyes chicken sandwiches [ laughter ] seriously, you guys are so much tougher than me. Im not kidding. I cant get through ten minutes of call of duty without a 15yearold making me cry. [ laughter ] you understand i saw that there were a lot of veterans day shopping deals. For instance, chipotle offered veterans buy one get one free burritos audience member yeah jimmy thats right two chipotle burritos. [ laughter ] even people who made it through Navy Seal Training were like, i cant handle that type of action [ laughter ] i feel a dishonorable discharge coming on. [ laughter ] steve check your six [ applause ] jimmy but lots of businesses were closed for veterans day all banks were closed. The post office was closed sears was closed, although that had nothing to do with veterans day. [ laughter ] im so glad all of you are here i have to say after three months of watching the jets and the giants, its nice to finally be able to clap for people in uniform. You know what im saying [ cheers and applause thats right, its veterans day, and were so glad youre all here and while many of you earned some amazing medals over your careers, i think sometimes civilians can feel a little left out so we decided to make some medals that regular people can earn, too. [ laughter ] ill show you what i mean. For instance, theres a medal for being able to spell the word wednesday without thinking to yourself, wednesday. [ laughter and applause wednesday. Theres also a medal for masking your horror when a a coworker shows you a photo of her ugly baby [ laughter ] wow, beautiful, beautiful is that right side up . Sorry. Oh, yeah [ laughter ] theres also a medal for nodding attentively at a waiter while he reads the specials even though you know youre not getting one. Its like [ laughter ] then we have a pound of chicken with a little arugula on top. And then you go, yeah, yeah, yeah im just going to have the burger. [ light laughter ] next, theres medal for teaching your parents the difference between alexa and siri in under two hours. [ laughter ] next theres a medal for getting a straw into the capri sun on the first try [ laughter ] steve come on. Jimmy its near impossible and finally, heres an important one. Theres a medal for hosting a talk show because lets face it, you couldnt make it through one day of basic training [ cheers and applause well, today was the 100th annual veterans day parade in new york city and President Trump attended i think he was a little confused because the entire time he kept asking, wheres the snoopy balloon . [ laughter ] trump was actually going to march in the parade. But at last minute, he said his bone spurs were bothering him. [ laughter ] [ audience ohs ] no, im just kidding [ laughter ] we all know he stormed the beaches at maralago. Its all good. [ laughter ] but it was really nice of the president to show up for our veterans he got up and said, i love vets without them who would take care of our pets when they get sick . [ laughter and applause jimmy hey, i want to say congrats to sesame street for turning 50 years old [ cheers and applause 50 years you can tell some of the sesame street characters are getting older, cause cookie monster now shouts, me want belvita biscuit to keep stuff regular. And finally, a mom in michigan ordered a cake shaped like a a unicorn for her daughters birthday but wasnt thrilled with how the decorations turned out see if you can tell why shes upset. Schroeder says she paid whipped bakery in lansing 370 to rent space for a baking birthday bash and an unicorn cake she said the cake that was supposed to resemble [ laughter ] a unicorn was far from her expectations the horn came out in a shape that was so embarrassing im it was very embarrassing [ laughter ] [ cheers ] jimmy now the bakery now the bakery is swamped with orders for bachelorette parties. [ laughter ] when the mom cut the cake, every guy was like, ow. In the womens room because we were there when they werent open it was just we were shooting, filming stuff. Yes jimmy and the guy was like, youve got to check out the ladies room. There are two toilets next to each other with no walls and no stalls good for chatting [ laughter ] jimmy i guess its good for chatting sisters first jimmy sisters first. Jimmy i want to talk about sisters first. Because i have two daughters, and they love being sisters. And they are best friends as well as sisters, so i mean, is that where this came from . Where did this come from well, we talked about writing a Childrens Book for several years. And jenna was pregnant with her second daughter poppy. Jimmy yeah and so, we were talking to mila, whos older, trying to get her excited about being a new big sister and we told her all these fun stories and imagination stories that we used to do and we got excited thinking about making a Childrens Book about the fact that having a a sister has made us braver than we ever thought possible, and its made our lives so much bigger and better to have a partner to go through life with and by the way, it doesnt have to be a blood sister. Our mom is an only child but sisterhood, whether its friends or colleagues, its pretty cool. Jimmy yeah, just stick together, yeah and you support each other i mean, because i think of my my kids are only six and four and a half now, but im like, please just be best friends. They will jimmy they will . Yeah. Jimmy for life i think the best thing about a a kids book is, seriously, its when you get to see a kid reading your book, its Game Changing because i luckily got to write a Childrens Book, and its like, to see some kid youve written three Childrens Books by the way, we put ours out later so that we didnt have to go against you we didnt want to compete. Rick ludwin, a long time executive in charge of late night at nbc and a great friend to our show passed away. In his 30 years at the network, he worked with steve allen, johnny carson, david letterman, conan obrien, jay leno and me i knew him back in the saturday night live days and he was in charge of nbc late night when i took over for conan back in 2009 and ill never forget how generous he was with his time and advice always saying the parts of the show that he liked and wanted to see more of he was just so encouraging rick was also a walking encyclopedia of late night he knew everything there was to know about tv. And we all loved and respected him for it i would email him. It was like, what would happen on this date and what did he do . And he knew all these great stories. I just loved talking with him. I would hed probably actually get out of the way so i wouldnt have to bother him and keep talking to him. cause i just wanted to hear all these great stories. I mean he was if it wasnt for rick, there wouldnt be a seinfeld. Nbc was going to pass on the show back in 1989. But rick believed in it so much that he went to bat for seinfeld. And he found the money to keep it on the air. And he basically changed the face of television and gave us one of the best tv shows of all time were going to miss rick im going to miss his emails im going to miss running into him.
