Not surprisingly, a lot of it comes online, leading to surprising side effects offline. The official report releases tomorrow but today got an exclusive first look gone are the days of families gathering together to watch tv now, when it comes to entertainment, things arent so black and white. Especially for kids. Growing up with the world at their finger tips, according to a new report by common sense media, eight to 12yearolds now spend an average of nearly five hours a day in front of a screen for teens, its almost 7 1 2 hours a day. And those startling numbers dont even include the use of screens at school or for homework. Screen time really matters in a childs development, because its time spent in front of a screen not outside, not with your friends, and weve seen major issues around addiction, attention, and distraction and forget tv and video games, its now online videos that have become the most popular distraction. The study finding more than twice as many young people watch online videos every day than did 2015, and this year, the average spent time watching doubled to roughly an hour. The biggest concern about the major uptick in online video usage is there is essentially nobody monitoring online videos. These platforms are not like tv. They are not monitored. Monday we have a creamy broccoli and cheese soup i like to start mondays meatless, a great way to get plant food in your diet. Theres no cream in the soup what i do is pour some of the soup after its cooked into the blender and i just blend some of it and pour it back into the soup super easy, everything here is under 500 calories. Wow so tuesday comes, you havent had meat yet, heres the meat. Tuesday, its a busy week, i love using my slow cooker on those days, schedules are hectic, so we have my daughter madisons favorite beef taco, if you want to make them leaner, you can use ground turkey as well to use on wednesday, leftovers, were going to use on wednesday, taco empanadas, healthy because theyre baked, i use frozen dough how do you make it . Use refrigerated pie crust if you dont have dough, cut the rounds, put meat in the center, fold them, put a little fork, egg white. Egg wash and bake it. About 25 minutes, super easy. And you get that crisp, fried taste. Looks good. You can freeze them, and i also put them in my daughters lunchbox for school. So shocked. Wow, that was a good question. You have never asked a question, ever. In a cooking segment. Its true you can make it into a meal with rice and beans, salad, guacamole. Meal planning seems like a good idea if you have kids, on the weekend you can shop. I do. You dont see like a meal planner. Thursday, this is a leftover from tuesday. Exactly are we going leaner. Were going asian, Brussel Sprouts, stir fry, a little spicy, you can leave the spice out. This takes about 15 minutes once your ingredients are prepped were going to use Brussel Sprouts that are shredded, you can just cut them yourself ill show you how easy i get this question all the time basically i cut them in half and use a knife. I really just cut them thin, and i absolutely find cutting therapeutic, so this is a great way to unwind. Those are fun too if you get then crunchy, cook those up were going to end the week with potato and french fries. We have carne asada fries, healthy, because theyre baked basically like irish nachos, with a latin twist pico de gallo, really delicious, made all in one pan if youre afraid of cutting fries into fries, a lot of people like to do rounds instead, same thing, cut them real thin, lay them on the sheet pan. Bake those too . Doesnt require oil a little bit of olive oil, season and right in the oven. Could you use sweet potatoes. You can what you eat on saturday, monday through friday, do you order pizza. I go out. I mean, you know, its everything in moderation, i love going out to eat its where i get most of my inspiration.
