This prepositioning strategy paid off earlier this month when a fire threatened homes in moranga. It depends on the line theyre connected to. Pg e also emphasizes residents will get notices of their status, so no one will be left wondering what will happen to them tonight. Live in woodside, robert handa, nbc bay area news. Communicating is key. Thanks so much, robert. A community worried about an old power pole got the upgrade they wanted for years. The wind forecast is right on track. I have not seen any changes to what we expect to happen tonight right into tomorrow morning. So lets bring you into that microclimate forecast. I want to start off, put this into perspective, what we are looking at. This is a fire danger rating scale. Its the same scale that firefighters use, and its based on humidity, wind, and also how dry the fuel, the brush is out there. And as we move through tonight, it is at 140, which puts it in the very high category. By early tomorrow morning, it jumps 20 points to 160. So the fire danger is real out here as we move through early tomorrow morning. Weve already started to see those winds gust up primarily in the mountains. Mount st. Helena down to mt. Diablo, 40 to 45 Miles Per Hour. There again has been no change to the fire warning thats in place. Its for the northeast, south bay, and for t santa cruz mountains. Gusts up to 55 Miles Per Hour for the mountains. And for the lower elevations, not as much. Only 20mileperhour gusts. This warning in effect until 4 00 p. M. Tomorrow. Lets put a track on this wind. We can follow it just like we follow a storm system. By 8 00 tonight,ce the focus of the brightest colors. Thats your highest wind gusts will be in the north bay down to about mt. Diablo. 20 to about 30 Miles Per Hour on average with gusts in the mountains, 3,000 feet and above at 55 Miles Per Hour. Well see that similar forecast until 11 00 p. M. Tonight. By early tomorrow morning, some of that wind starts pop down here near the peninsula and woodside. 20 to about 30mileperhour gusts but the real danger continues to be marin, napa, and sonoma counties. The way things have continued to look, we see this wind moving out of here by tomorrow afternoon, and that will certainly help to lower our fire danger. On top of the fire danger, its also a temperature story. Record setting highs tomorrow. Well start off aittle milder, mostly sunny skies. 71 in the trivalley. 71 in the east bay. Fog free in San Francisco. The north bay at 72. By the afternoon, 15 to even 20 degrees above average. So without any kind of airconditioning, if your power is cut off, it will be uncomfortable. 90 over to san jose. Some 90s here in the east bay from pittsburg to concord. Oakland at 88. Look at this. Beaches, 83 in hlf moon bay. Redwood city, 88. After will likely have upper 80s, and downtown, the mission at 87. Right through wine country, lots of low 90s throughout tomorrow. My extended forecast has that wind coming down as we hit tomorrow afternoon. Notice by sunday, temperatures drop to 69 with a cooler system and likely more winds gusting up to about 35 Miles Per Hour. Well stay in the 60s in San Francisco through early next week. Also going down to 77 on sunday for the inland valleys. Were waiting on some critical information on the sunday wind event. We will know a lot more as we head through the next 24 hours. I want to get us through what were dealing with right now and then well really put a focus on sundays event as we hit tomorrow night and friday. People in San Mateo County parts could see their power maybe late overnight, last check from pg e. I personally want to stay away from the Power Outages but the wind definitely could be gusting up tomorrow morning. Up next at 5 00.
