Were monitoring this and expect them to vote on this at any moment. These are the three designs they are considering. According to bart, the preferred option is this tall, swingstyle fare gate. Bart staff likes it, its considered to be reliable, effective in deterring fare evaders and allows passengers to pass through quickly. Less reliable, requires more maintenance and is floor to ceiling turnstyle. You cant get through as fast through those type of gates. Earlier this year, bart tested out two other designs at fruitvale, a fourinch popup blades for the Transit Agency eventually removed those. Richmond bart, doubleee elier t that design is not foolproof. We watcheded as riders squeezed through those gates and got into a fight with police. Bart does not plan on implementing that double stack Design System wide but will keep them at Richmond Bart until the new design is chosen and implemented.
