Brynn oda mathews and her friend gabrielle goss were hit by gunfire. The two spoke for the first time about the gunman, the chaos and physical and emotional wounds that theyll feel for a long time. I felt really bleak and sad. But i hope i feel a sense of general trust towards humanity because right now i really dont. I feel like paranoid when i leave my house, like i dont know. Like who i can trust sometimes. Its just terror. I just see him walking into the festival at times. The friends thank the doctors who helped them and remember the people who lost their lives. They are also hoping to find the Good Samaritan named john who drove them to the hospital. Now earlier today, gilroys police chief and the fbi shared the latest on the case, including revealing the names of the three Gilroy Police officers who shot ask killed the gunman. We learned one officer has 23 years of experience, the other two 17 and 13 years respectively on the force. Also another victim has come forward. A person grazed by a bullet has since gone to the police. That brings the total number of victims injured to 16. The fbi continues to comb over every piece of evidence, and the chief hailed his officers as reluctant heroes. All three of these officers are incredibly humble. I think theyre heroes. I dont think they view themselves that way. I think they view themselves that they were just doing their job. The fbi is asking for patience. They say processing all of the evidence is going to take a lot more time. We are following some developing news in the north bay, an officerinvolved shooting in santa rosa. This happened on 9th and morgan street near the saint Rose Catholic church. The suspect was shot around 7 00 this evening. We are still awaiting word on what led up to this shooting. We still dont know the victims condition. We do know there were no officers or deputies hurt in this confrontation. In marin county, an Investigation Underway tonight after a small plane made a hard landing. It happened at marin County Airport in novato around 4 30 in the afternoon. There were two people on board, and they did suffer minor injuries. Tonight, though, no word on what caused that mishap, although we do have calls into the airport and investigators for more details. Close call in contra costa county. Firefighters knocking down a fire in lafayette, but not before it came dangerously close to some homes. Fire started late near rancho view road near the intersection of taylor boulevard and Pleasant Hill road. Sky ranger you can see overhead. Thats why elan as husband started up theirs almost two weeks ago and they knew something was wrong. And it sounded apparently like, like he was driving a jet. Reporter members of the Lgbtq Community gather at harvey milk plaza in San Francisco to honor yelena, a 42yearold lgbtq activist stabbed to death in russia after she was named on an antigay website. Her name had appeared on these basically gay hunting websites in russia and eastern europe, and they went to authorities and authorities completely ignored her. The Santa Clara County fair, outside lands inan rancisco, both events will have beefed up security in the wake of the mass shooting in gilroy. Sheriffs deputies walked with rifles at the county fairgrounds in san jose throughout the day today. Security guards checked purses and bags and also used metal detecting wands. San Francisco Laurie Smith says many changes were made in the past 48 hours. We not only have a lot more deputies who are working today, but we also have a lot of special teams. We have our offroad motorcycles, we have our regular motorcycles, canines that sniff bombs and ammunition, and our s. W. A. T. Team is staged also. The sheriff also says they have tents at the fairgrounds that will be staffed at all times by deputies. There is a new message on bart. It says no panhandling. Reporter so far this year, bart officers have responded to 340 calls related to panhandling, but only two result ed in citations. Last year there were 958 panhandling calls with just three citations. Now, that was ali wolf reporting for us. A bart spokesperson did tell us the citations for panhandling is low because in order to make a citation, the panhandling has to be clearly aggressive. Also a witness needs to be there to give a statement, something that most people really just dont stick around to do. It might be the last time we see this, that controversial mural. Big crowds turned out today in San Francisco to view the life of washington mural at George Washington high school. It could soon be painted over. That mural was created in the 1930s, but in recent years as we have been reporting, many people have condemned it as racist. Ultimately leading to the decision to cover it. But many at todays viewing say it should be preserved as an accurate representation of the ugly truth about our history.
