And jean, that video really those just how quickly this all unfolded. Reporter its really chilling. That shooting happened up on the second floor of the food court. Workers who are back on the job tonight say they are feeling uneasy and youll take a look at that video and you will see why. Panic as gunshots ring out at the food court at the tanforan mall. San bruno police releasing Surveillance Video tonight that shows the exchange of gunfire. At the top of your screen you see a Group Running and a gunman turn and shoot a person. Then the second gunman runs into the area, stops, and fires several shots. Lisa lei was working at milk town when the shots were fired. Weve obtained a picture of one gunman who was shooting right outside her shop. All this yelling and then rung away. Then i closed my gate. Reporter she also told a family to come in and hide behind the counter. Nearby bullet holes are repaired tonight, but the San Bruno Police Department Says it is still searching for the two gunmen who shot two people. One of the teen shooting victims collapsed outside time warp. I heard the whole thing. Was about six to eight shots fired. And a bunch of people running in front of my store. And one of them was hit and dropped right in front of my store. He was hit in the stomach. Reporter San Francisco General Hospital says both victims are in serious but stable condition. Police body camera pictures show them being treated after two u. S. Army recruiters working in the mall ran to help them. The army honored the men today for their bravery. As a soldier, you know, were public service, not just overseas but also in our community. And thats what the trainings for. Its life. Things happen. And what i know is basically when things happen you do your best to deal with the situation and help others and make it through it. Thats because theres a big problem with illegal fireworks here in the bay area. And according to fire officials, theres also a problem with safe and sane fireworks. Its a great time. What you see here may look spectacular, but its against the law. We had plenty of fires last year that were started as a result of fireworks, and unfortunately this year already we have had several. Reporter Contra Costa County fire Crews Holding a demonstration to alert people of the danger of using illegal fireworks. Even fireworks that are considered safe are illegal in Contra Costa County. There are no safe and sane fireworks. Theyre all illegal. Theyre all dangerous. And in these fire conditions it costa county. In fact, the crews already setting up. Fireworks will be shot off from a barge anchored at aquatic park. Thatll start 9 30. Its going to be huge. Like i said, its 25 minutes of rock and roll rapidfire fireworks. Theres about 10,000 devices to go off in about 20 minutes or so. Its going to be exciting. And huge, like he said. Also you should note Treasure Island is not recommended as a place to go watch. You may have done that before, in years before. But now youre being told to stay away because theres a big construction project there. So youre not going to really be able to get around. So then what is a good spot to watch the fireworks from . I think the forecast is Getting Better and better, to be able to see that fog through most of the bay area. Well start it off at 2 30 tomorrow afternoon. Look at this. 99 of the bay area will have sunshine. If youre going to the coastline, expect some areas of fog. A child is getting rabies shots in San Francisco after a dog attacked him at a grocery store. Now to a heartbreaking new images from the border. A series of drawings by children recently released from customs and Border Protection custody. Those pictures fueling outrage about the conditions in those migrant detention facilities. The drawings are each sketched by 10 and 11yearolds, and they look and depict kids behind bars. Nbc bay areas Sergio Quintana talked with a San Francisco University Professor who collected those drawings. Sergio. A professor at Belinda Hernandez arriaga has been visiting a Catholic Charities facility in mcallen, texas for the last year and as part of her work with families that had been detained at the border she asked the children to draw pictures of their experiences and those drawings are revealing andome the children call this la perrera, the dog kennel. These are images of la perrera. The one little girl started drawing for me this image and she just started to share what they were living with. Reporter these canvas panels were each drawn by children when she sat and talked with them last week at a Catholic Charities facility in mcallen, texas. In the center there was another guard watching them. And so they would sleep with an aluminum blanket. And they were made to be quiet or else they would be punished. Reporter professor arriaga also showed this picture of a toddler who was recently released from customs and Border Protection custody wearing hardly any clothes and mylar foil on his feet. The department of homeland securitys own Inspector General further described detention facility conditions writing children had limited access to a change of clothes and two facilities had not provided children access to hot meals. Weve just learned hendricks was recently terminated by the Las Vegas Metro Police Department for performance of his duties. Mike kronk survived the shooting. It comes as four officers in florida were fired for inaction after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman douglas high. Deputy Scott Peterson was criminally charged. A followup now to that massive construction fire in santa clara last week. It destroyed a fourstory Condo Development that was going up in el camino real. Weve learned it will be another week until the investigation is done. Then theyll do a review of the structure to see if any of the concrete slab can be salvaged. If it cant it will have to be demolished and the developer will have to start rebuilding from scratch. Its not 1yu69just a proble San Francisco or oakland anymore. Car breakins are rising at a startling rate in the south bay. Police say the mercado mall in santa klavera clara is a car br hot spot. Santa clara has seen masmash an grab burglaries jump 120 compared to the same time last year. In sacramento nearly 4 million in the budget is aimed at fighting back with education. Islands are a National Wildlife refuge. About 27 miles off San Franciscos coast. Home to hundreds of thousands of sea birds. Now, the u. S. Fish and wild fire service says the population explosion of nonnative house mice needs to be eradicated. The mice are attracting raptors who then feed on the rare birds. The mice are also eating native plant seeds. To stop them its proposing a rat poison drop from helicopters. But an Animal Welfare group oppose the plan saying the birds will eat the poison mice and die. Theyll start feeding on se of the rare bird species that are out there. The farallon is protected to help provide habitat for. The mice also feed on some of the native plants out there. Most of those birds are going to fly back across to the mainland where theyre going die on our beaches, theyre going to die in our parks. Theyre going to be very, very sick. And when they die, they will expose other animals that eat them to the rat poison. The u. S. Fish and wildlife says there are plans in place to skater birds away during that mouse eradication and then to pick up the mouse carcasses before theyre eaten. The plan will be considered and reviewed by the California Coastal Commission Next week. An alarming new trend has marine experts baffled. Theyre seeing a higher number of malnourished sea lions along the coast. Volunteers rescued a sea lion along ocean beach in San Francisco today. Rescuers also picked up another sea lion at linda mar beach down in pacifica. Vets are saying on average they say between 50 and 70 sea lion strandings per year but this year that number has tripled. These younger animals are mostly out on the islands or just offshore now. Sought fact were seeing so many of them in beaches is pretty unusual and that theyre coming in skinny, malnourished. The six sea lions were taken to the Marine Mammal center in sausalito. Going to be given fluids and food and treat ford any other conditions before theyre released. Go closer to the bay, closer to the coast, and we will have some areas of fog tomorrow morning and widespread 50s here for the trivalley down to the south bay. Overall a very comfortable start here for july. Puts a in the east bay with the best chance of some morning fog right there in San Francisco. As we hit noon right into the afternoon, sunshine returns. Warm temperatures are back but not too hot. In fact, still some spots slightly below average. That will leave us with 78 here in san jose. That family coming over doing a barbecue. 79 in gilroy. Over to the east bay theres a couple spots that are going to get warm here. Pittsburg. Also into antioch. Here in the upper 80s. So i still think in San Francisco youll be able to see something tomorrow and that is the great news. If youre headed out to pier 39, the embarcadero, 50s there for those fireworks as they lift off.
