Really, really cold. I want to let folks know its time to bring out the heavier coats, because were talking about a 10 to 15degree drop in our temperatures as we head into tomorrow, and we are even tracking snow and showers, which is why weve got stormranger. That is up and scanning in our parking lot right now where you see the red sweep. Weve got a brandnew stormranger, exclusive to us, also telemundo will be using it, as well. And as soon as that system kind of starts rolling on in, stormranger will be right there to capture the latest radar with the best view. Now healdsburg right now, very cold. 35 degrees. But look at the skies. Nice and clear out there. Which is kind of why were seeing an array of temperatures. So we still have that ridge of High Pressure thats holding on tight over the bay area for one more day. And weve also got kind of some 48 degrees warmer spots, milder spots in San Francisco, santa rosa, 35. Napa, 34. And todays high, it will once again be slightly warmer. But more seasonable than what we have seen the past couple days. As i mentioned, we have the ridge of High Pressure sitting over the bay area. Today is the last day for that. Antioch, 67 degrees. Concord, 68. Oakland, 66. San jose, a high of 69. Now lets talk about this futurecast, because i had mentioned that we were tracking a storm system, so what exactly does that mean in terms of showers . Well, if i fast forward this time line into the overnight hours and early tomorrow morning, you notice we start seeing a couple of these showers popping up. But mainly along the coastline. So the best chance to see a couple of showers will be along the coastline, Half Moon Bay, possibly along the peninsula, and for the santa cruz mountains, as well. So the Higher Elevation areas. But look at this snow thats packing up here near south lake tahoe, kirkwood. Futurecast. This is taking us through sunday at about 10 30. Look at all of that snow. So this is definitely going to be a cold front thats going to bring a cold arctic blast. And whats also going to be kicking up are those winds. Talking about wind gusts, possibly between 20 and 40 Miles Per Hour in some zones. So sunday at about 2 30, look how the winds start picking up. Santa rosa, 23 Miles Per Hour. San francisco, 22. And if i take you through the evening hours into sunday, santa rosa, 31 Miles Per Hour. San jose, 20plus. And as you can imagine, along the coastline and into the Higher Elevation areas, you can expect even gustier conditions. So exactly how much snow are we expecting from this system . Well, look at this. This is estimated snow, and this is taking us through sunday. Were talking about eight to ten possibly inches of brandnew snow for this year. A muchneeded up there. We have had a very dry february so far. They havent been getting too much snow. But with the snow and cold front also expected to see some very gusty conditions, were talking dangerously gusty. Look at this. 48 degrees or 48 excuse me. 48 Miles Per Hour, tahoe city, 50 Miles Per Hour much and as far as that time line goes, those winds are expected to continue very gusty. Not just for tomorrow, but also into monday morning. Over the next seven days, a look at what we can expect. Sunday and monday. I do have the showers in there, but i want to kind of put it into perspective that its mainly going to be along the coastline and peninsula. One thing that will be noticeable across the entire bay area, though, is going to be those strong, gusty winds and, of course, that cold, cold air blast, vicki. Vianey, thank you. Tri valley, 36 degrees. Its nice and clear, but its also a little chilly in the north bay. Although we are actually a little warmer in some spots by 2 or 3 degrees than yesterday. San francisco right now also not a very frequent combination. Clear skies in San Francisco, no fog. Well, were tracking a cold arctic blast. Thats going to really cool us down into tonight. Ill have all the details coming up just after the break. Stay with us. Good morning. Its 7 41. You have your cup of coffee in hand. I hope youre enjoying your saturday so far, because look at how beautiful it is outside. This is a live look over Half Moon Bay, using our Weather Underground cameras, we have the beautiful sun coming out. 39 degrees. But we do have our stormranger, and that is actively scanning, ready for that incoming storm system that is expected to bring a drop in those temperatures. Now right now were in the 30s and the 40s at this hour. Were actually just a tad bit warmer in some spots, and thats because an increase in sea moisture is bringing in milder temps for areas like san jose, 44. Hayward, 44. But still very cold in napa. 34 degrees. Santa rosa, 35. Your daytime highs for today. Today is going to be the last day where that bridge of High Pressure continues to sit over the bay area, dominating. Ask thats going to bring another mild warmer afternoon across certain parts of the bay area. 68 degrees for concord. A high of 66 for oakland. San francis san jose, 69. San francisco, a high of 63. But take note, these highs, because come tomorrow, we are getting ready for a pretty big drop in those temperatures. Were talking anywhere between 10 to 15 degrees in drop. Lets look at the futurecast. Because were talking about that incoming storm system. If you notice, sunday at about 7 30, so even into tonight and tomorrow, we do see some moisture on the map. However, the majority of that moisture does kind of stick off along the coast. Which means areas like San Francisco, possibly Half Moon Bay, might get a couple of showers. But the biggest point of focus is going to be all of that snow that is expected for the sierra. And also to that cold front is going to kick up those winds. So get ready for gusty conditions as early as tonight and into tomorrow. So by tomorrow, if i fast forward this time line to 2 30 p. M. , look at santa rosa, 23 Miles Per Hour. San francisco, 22. And these are northwesterly winds. 22 Miles Per Hour. And then they really start to pick up sunday evening at about 6 30, right around dinner time. Well start getting gusts and Higher Elevations up to 40plus Miles Per Hour. So expect gustier conditions along the coast and in Higher Elevation areas. Lets talk about the snow. Exactly how much snow are we getting . Were talking anywhere between 8 to possibly 10 inches of brandnew snow for the sierra. Look at tahoe city, 8 inches and this is just sunday alone. Twin bridges, 8 inches. And the conditions expected to be very poor, especially travel conditions. Because if youre thinking about the winds here, its only going to be gustier in the sierra. Tahoe city, 25. And eventually the winds and gusts get up to 50plus Miles Per Hour into the sunday morning hour and into monday. So not really a good day to travel up to the sierra. If you do have plans to do so, i would say check the road continues tal conditions at all times or maybe hold off until the storm passes. Sunday and monday, again, the best chance of showers is going to stick off along the coastline and even in santa cruz mountains, you might get some showers up there. The biggest drop and the most noticeable thing thats going to happen, 63 to 53 degrees on sunday. Ive got to get my good coat out now. You put it away too soon. Just like i did. All right, vianey, thanks. Still ahead on today in the bay, we investigate a landlord loophole some are calling a gateway to fraud. How it could leave you and your loved ones out on the street. The district says new schools should open by the year 2020. Which should help solve that overcrowding problem. Well, what was once a littleknown loophole is now being described as a gateway to fraud that is helping some landlords make big bucks in oakland. Two years ago, the Investigative Unit first exposed similar abuse in San Francisco. Lawmakers credit the report for spurring one of the citys largest housing Reform Efforts in recent history. By law, landlords have to agree to continue living in the home for at least three years. But we have learned no one from the city is enforcing that rule. And landlords arent required to submit any proof theyre living in the home. That could soon change, in part thanks to our reporting. On tuesday, the Oakland City Council is expected to pass a new law, and it could impact you. When renters are kicked out as part of an owner movein eviction, landlords would have to submit documentation to the city, like a utility bill each year for three years to prove theyre continuing to live in that home. What we have been doing lately, vicki, is having our staff and our volunteers really emphasize what we call play groups. So we allow the dogs to go out in their backyard and the volunteers and the staff play with them. And it helps them to become more socialized. And our idea is to try to get as many peoplelm u in prospect adopters to see the dogs operate and interact with each other in these play group settings, which is a much more natural setting than, you know, oneonone in a meet and greet room or Something Like that.
