So if you are a driver you have probably experienced this, you foreget to feed the meter ad come back and find a ticket. Weve been hearing from commuters who actually got ticketed at bart stations even though they say they paid for their spots. Investigative reporter liz wagner decided to find out how its happening. Reporter we talked to seven riders in the east bay all of them new to bart, they paid for parking, turns out, though, their spots werent really available until after 10 00 a. M. But the parking machine took their money anyway. If youve been to the rockridge station in oakland you know there are plenty of signs in both parking lots. Bart says the signs are clear, but to the new riders theyre clear as mud. The commuters thought they parked in a daily fee area, instead they parked in a permit zone. Naturally they got tickets, but here is their beef, when they entered their stall numbers into the pay machine, the machine took their money without warning them those spaces arent actually valid. I paid the 3 for the daily fee and it accepted and i thought, okay, im on my way. They could reprogram the machines to tell you that what youre doing is wrong. It could refuse your money. Reporter bart says the Old Computers dont offer the flexibility to give alerts to riders. rn coming up tonight after the bart doesnt want its parking machines to let riders know they are in the wrong spot. Today in the bays pete suratos is live in berkeley this morning. A lot of people talking about this, pete. So talk about this first of a kind proposal for us. Reporter good morning to you. Look, it should come as no surprise that berkeley is on the front lines of the issue, theyve been pushing to Marijuana Reform back to the late 70s. What theyve looking for now, they will vote on a resolution later tonight at the City Council Meeting is to have a sanctuary city policy for those that legally use cannabis, also for those that have businesses that are legally selling Recreational Marijuana but as far as whats in this resolution, theyre going to vote on tonight, basically they want to prohibit local agencies from working with federal enforcement agencies on marijuana laws as well as when it comes to turning over information to those authorities. Now, typically federal authorities need assistance from local Police Agencies in order to carry out any sort of investigation and this is all basically a response to attorney general Jeff Sessions marijuana memo which came out in january removing those obama era grinds that directed prosecutors not to go African Business businesses and users following state laws. Those protections will be limited even if this resolution passes since marijuana is still illegal and you federal law despite many states like california choosing to legalize Recreational Use for a dlts. When it comes to the California Law people 21 and over can purchase up to an ounce of Recreational Marijuana or grow six plants at their home and businesses must have local approval and a state license in order to sell Recreational Marijuana. Now, if passed this resolution would be unprecedented. The vote is set to take place tonight in berkeley at 6 00 p. Ms live in berkeley, pete suratos today in the bay. We are seeing a little bit of it southbound 680, a crash reported at stone ridge. I think judging by the sensors its past there, maybe closer to bernl. Should be getting over to the shoulder but not a lot of information. Chp is not there yet. That may be a problem for folks coming off the dublin interchange. Also slowing there as well as 880 and across the san mateo and dumbarton bridges the arrow shows you 84, thats where there is the report of a disabled vehicle mid span, im tracking that to see whether its san mateo or the dumbarton bridge. This is what a new report is all about, an alarming report showing what would happen if the bay area were hit with an earthquake similar to the one in 1906. We are talking about the San Andreas Fault which runs from Southern California all the way up to San Francisco. Past San Francisco, actually. Now, the 1906 quake left the San Francisco bay area in shambles. The usgs predicts there is a 22 chance of a magnitude 6. 7 or greater quake hitting about i the year 2043, but are we more prepared now . Thats the question. A new report says nearly 69,000 houses would likely be uninhabitable if a 7. 8 earthquake struck the San Andreas Fault line and more than 200,000 people, yes, 200,000 people would be displaced. That damage would be massive because a lot of homes are not properly retrofitted. The agency hopes that study will shine light on the immediate for more mandatory retro fitting ordinances. New this morning San Francisco leaders today will reportedly gate a plan to ban concealed firearms at large gaerlts. Scott mcgrew, a group consistently causing controversy. It pains me to go into this. We have so much going on in the world, right . But there are Serious Problems in the west wing this morning. We have talked about how the president and the chief of staff have both supported a man accused of beating not one but two exwifes, rob porter. The president s private secretary has resigned. One of those exwifes who showed us his black eye just wrote a scathing oped in the washington post, very angry with what white house spokeswoman Kellyanne Conway said. She said hope hicks porters current girlfriend is too strong a woman to allow herself to be abused. Im very close to hope hicks and i dont worry about her in that respect, im sorry for any suffering that this woman has endured, but in the case of hope, i rarely met somebody so strong with such excellent instincts and loyalty and smarts. Porter is a part of a long list of people who have let the president down. In fact, everybody in this group has been fired or resigned. Thats porter there in the background. He is accused of hitting two women, this guy accused of assaultsing a woman, those charges were dropped. This guy made a late night bizarre profane phone call to a reporter and he has been associated with racist groups. Omaro omarosa, we are never quite sure what she did but she got fired and somehow shes pauking about President Trump and Vice President pence on big brother. We would be begging for days of trump back if pence became president. Thats all im saying. He is extreme. Im christian, i love jesus, but he thinks jesus tells him to say things and its like a white house aide on the loose. Congress, mean while, getting business done, theyre debating daca as promised. This morning the president reminded them of the march 5th of the deadline. Were examining everything thats going on in the white house, both soap operas and actual action.
