No reports of damages or injuries. The mayor preparing people for a more serious quake. Continuing coverage of the chp officer killed in the line of duty. A bell ringing ceremony will be held to honor officer camilleri. His body was escorted to tracy, his hometown, last night. He is a loving father, husband and friend in the community. They were standing at attention as his body was carried into the funeral home. You dont expect that, especially at christmas. How do you explain to the younger one that is are 2 and 6. Hard to explain dads not coming home. I cant believe Something Like this happened to them. It seems unreal. We lost an amazing human being. Officer camilleri was killed Christmas Eve when a suspected drunk driver, also under the influence of drugs slammed into a vehicle the officer was in. We have been following chp doing the investigation. Officers are out in full force looking for people speeding and drunkdriving. The latest arrest numbers, 917 drivers arrested for driving under the influence statewide, its up 50 from last year. An investigation under way after another fire along a south bay freeway. This one, in san jose, under highway 87 overpass. Firefighters say it started in the homeless encampment. A portion of it was closed while crews put out that fire. Just last week, Police Arrested a transient for starting fires along 680. A neighbor is on edge after a series of small fires that appear to have been intentionally set. Its an all too familiar story. A walking trail fire was put out quickly by firefighters monday. Neighbors say they have seen dozens of small fires. The possibility of serial arsonists worries them because they have lived through it before. Remember in 2014, the south way arsonist set fires to homes, a church and a warehouse in the same area. He was eventually caught and sentenced to prison. Neighbors say that story stuck with them. We, obviously, are oversensitive in our area because of the arsonist we had a couple years back. That really does concern us. The Roosevelt Park Neighborhood Association has been in contact with the fire department. Investigators are aware of neighbors concerns. Silicon valley was first in tech and could be first in another industry. Marijuana stores. So far, seven shops in san jose have the green light to open january 1st. Thats monday. The number means san jose is tied with san diego for the most permitted shops in the state. They currently sell medical marijuana. Airfield supply company is one of the few. The owner says following strict guidelines from the city will help them open on time. San jose did a good job with regulations. They had a strict policy up front. It made state licensing programs in a good position. At this point, there are few shots set to open in oakland and one in berkeley. There are 40 licensed Stores Across california so far. The state will continue issuing licenses through the weekend. Palo altos tesla and ceo, elon musk plan to add to their fleet of vehicles. More than 200 members of the Homestead High School marching band will perform in the Rose Bowl Parade on sunday. They are no stranger to having their band on the national parade.
