When it rains, we have a couple issues on the roads. An overall look at the bay area, a couple minor fender benders and the crash on westbound 80 before you get on the bay bridge, there was a fast track lane blocked. It looks like its still blocked, according to chp. The latest report shows it is blocked. The delays past berkeley as well. Head on out if thats your Early Morning commute. Chp had a high wind advisory in place for the dumbarton bridge, san mateo bridge an mateo bridge. Back to you. It is 6 02. Breaking in the south bay, investigators are canvassing a neighborhood. New, within the last ten minutes, we confirmed more of whats happening there. These are live pictures from red berry drive. You can see sheriffs deputies very active on the scene. It is south of the saratogalos gatos road. They said this scene is a result of a robbery investigation. Also, we are just being told there is a search for as many as five suspects in their 20s, four men and one woman. Take a look at the video from a short time ago. We are told the robbery happened after 4 00 this morning. When we checked in with today in the bays anser hassan, he showed several deputies and cruisers in the area where the crime scene tape is still up. The Sheriffs Department is saying this is an ongoing investigation. Anser hassan is gathering more details right now, pressing for the answers whether or not there is a Public Safety issue. A live report on this at 6 32. To washington, d. C. , where senators voeted along party lines to pass a sweeping tax reform bill. A big win for republicans and the president. Edward lawrence is live on capitol hill for what is next for the bill and whether or not its a win for anyone who is not a republican. Reporter yeah, good morning kris and marcus. Yeah. It should have been easier getting it through the house, actually. It went through the house, now republicans have to make a second vote on that bill because it did change a little bit in the senate. They have to have the exact same packages they passed. But, i can tell you, this tax bill already passed the senate. On this vote, the yes are 51, the noes 48. Reporter the tax cut bill is there as the Vice President presided over the vote. The tax cuts and jobs act is passed. Reporter vehicle president , mike pence, there, in case he had to do a tie breaker. No democrats voted for the bill. After slow growth and under performance, america is ready to take off. Reporter democrats say American Families will not win under this tax plan. It is dramatically opposite of what america needs. There is no reason for a single middle class family to pay more while every Single Corporation pays less. When you conduct your business behind closed doors, not only do you end up with legislation that represents the needs of the billionaire class, but you also make a number of mistakes. Reporter in the house, an embarrassment. Members have to revote because of procedural issues parts of the bill did not meet house rules. The revised tax bill expected to be on the president s desk later today. This is a great example of a promise being made and a promise kept. Now, we know there is no indication at the moment the president is going to sign this bill today or before he leaves, however, he is going to hold an event about three hours from now, maybe three or four hours from now to talk about this bill with republicans. I can tell you, as lawmakers go forward, the federal government will run out of money on friday. The fire started around 1 00 in the morning near campbell, northbound 17, just south of 280. But we have reports on a similar encampment fire earlier this week. Authorities did not find anyone living there at the encampment. New this morning, authorities are investigating the Police Shooting that sent a man to the hospital. This happened at 8 00 on san clemente drive east of highway 101. Central many redskin authority say officers were called about a missing atrisk man making suicidal threats. Police say he was armed and making gestures toward his waistband. The man did not suffer lifethreatening injuries. Frustrated fliers who were supposed to be in hawaii are headed there. They took off around 4 00 a. M. They had to turn around and land at 5 00 p. M. They had a mandatory rest period of eight hours. Most of the passengers got a taxi or hotel voucher. Each year, the city of livermore holds a lottery to see who gets first crack at the limited supply of affordable housing. The city tells us, this year, 765 people endered their names. The city of livermore is one of the few cities that have strict requirements for developers to sell a few of their homes at steep discounts like Ponderosa Homes here at the vines behind me. A 34 bedroom house normally priced in the mid7s to high 9s sells in the mid2s to those who qualify. You cant make too much money. You have to meet the low to moderate income limit, 3 down payment plus closing costs, fico score of 660 and be a firsttime home buyer. The city gives preference to veterans, first reponders and teachers. The benefits of having a schoolteacher, one of your schoolteachers being able to live in the area they work in is helpful to the school and your children and the community. Ahead of that, we are seeing the light showers moving through for the most part, bringing a tenth inch of rain. As we get a closer look at san jose, the roads may be wet. A couple sprinkles linger around downtown. The farther south you go, the showers are moving through the south county. Driving up 101, it will improve as far as the rain and visibility. Look how cool it is. Temperatures mid to upper 40s. We are going to have a very chilly day with our high temperatures reaching 56 degrees in east san jose. East bay up to 58 degrees in concord and 53 in san mateo. San francisco, 53 degrees and the north bay, into the mid to upper 50s. Its going to be windy. Those winds rushing in behind that cold front. Hold on to your hat. Its going to be gusty with sustained winds coming in at 1525 miles per hour. There may be higher gusts and tomorrow morning, as the temperatures drop, its going to be breezy. Then we look at the low temperatures in san jose over the next few days. Its going to drop down into the mid30s by thursday night and friday, upper 30s. Gets milder as we get closer to christmas. We may also have freezing temperatures inland. San francisco, first day of winter tomorrow. Its going to be breezy and cool. Another chance of rain on christmas evening and also on tuesday, ill be watching that. In the meantime, getting ready to dry out. Thats good news for the drivers about to hit the road. Christmas is on monday. We are not seeing the holiday traffic, yet. We are seeing a couple issues spark up in the south bay. These popped up there. I want to look into that. I want to update you quickly, along that crash, just before the toll plaza, along the bay bridge. The fast track lane remains blocked. You can see the hazard is on. Theres major slowing back to berkeley. Now, just behind that, there is another crash along westbound 580, just at exit 19b. The shoulder is blocked. You can see the road hazard there. Seeing delays along eastbound areas. For now, the mass transit is looking good. Say trains up and running for bart. No delays on ace caltrain. There is crime scene tape around a gated home. A major police and sheriff deputy presence is happening in an upscale neighborhood. The details about whats happening are starting to trickle in. Today in the bays anser hassan has been on the scene asking those questions since before 5 00 this morning. We understand the Sheriffs Department told you more about whats happening . Reporter yeah, thats right. Good morning, kris and marcus. They are investigating a home robbery that happened up the street from here. You can see the road is blocked off. There are sheriffs deputies on scene. This is near red berry drive. This is a very upscale residential neighborhood in los gatos, multimillion dollar homes. We watched deputies go doortodoor as part of the investigation. Several deputies patrolling the area. We have confirmed there are five suspects that they are looking for. One woman, four men, all of whom are in their 20s. We spoke to one neighbor who says this is a very quiet neighborhood. He didnt hear anything this morning except he was alerted to it all after he heard police sirens. Here is what he told us a short while ago. Occasionally, theres been some stuff going on here. Just burglaries. Not up this far. Reporter now, we have been told there may be at least one victim, but no other information at this time. It is early in the investigation. We will find out more information and bring it to you. Anser hassan, today in the bay. Thank you very much. Overnight, an investigation into three carjackings and robberies in san jose. Late last night, Police Brought out the entire robbery unit. They did arrest someone. You can see, they are taking that suspect into custody. The crimes happened last week. The officers were serving a search warrant to recover stolen property or weapons used in the crime. They have seen a dramatic rise in carjackings and robberies. We have one person that is under arrest who has a warrant as an escapee. Its unknown if hes involved in the robberies. He will be arrested on the warrant. San jose police say they are still in the early stages of this investigation. Developing this morning, police in the south bay are investigating the shooting that rattled neighbors and sent a man to the hospital. It happened after 7 00 last night on scott street in san jose, not far from the 280 880 interchange. That man was riding a bike when he was struck by gunfire. Neighbors say this is normally a quiet area and they were shocked at this happening this time of year. We were out looking at christmas lights. Its almost christmas, what are you doing out shooting people . The victim is in the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. They are not sure if he was targeted or a random act of shooting. Out of washington state, its been nearly 48 hours and investigators are trying to figure out what led to the deadly train derailment. Three people killed, dozens of others injured after the train jumped the tracks on monday. We are in dupont, washington with the investigation. Reporter good morning. Its been almost 48 hours since the derailment happened. You can see crews down there. Right now, they have been checking the Structural Integrity of the bridge. So far, it looks okay. They are hoping to reopen i5 later today after the rush hour commute, possibly. You can see the southbound lanes headed toward portland are still closed. Ntsb is releasing more information. There was somebody else inside the cap with the engineer when this happened. They are looking at the possibility the distraction may have played a role in this case. Since then concerns have been raised about Health Effects of pepper spray. They took a second look. According to the chronicle, the use of pepper spray for crowd control. A follow up to a story brought yesterday morning here on today in the bay. Walnut creek is in the midst of a parking crunch. City leaders think they have a way to fix the problem. Councilmembers say you should have somebody park your car for you. They approved a Pilot Program they are calling the attendant assistant program. We call it valet service. When the garage fills up, an attendant will direct someone to park behind an existing parked car and hand their keys to the attendance. The attendant will move the car as spaces become available. It will last a year and may spread to other cityowned garages, if it works out. Live at the bay bridge, drivers packing the roadways as they head to work or school or maybe off to their holiday plans. Today, we expect an update on easing congestion on a regular basis. Transportation leaders will discuss what to put rm3 on the ballot. It could be as early as june. The plan would hike the tolls across the bay area bridges. Leaders could decide the amount of the toll increase. The money would fund traffic projects. It is 6 37. We have had a somewhat messy commute due to the rain. A couple fender benders that pop up. I want to get you to a new traffic collision. Chp is reporting slowing and back up from lafayette. Get off before lafayette and hop on after matilda. A crash on westbound 237. Outs causing heavy delays out of the area. Another area seeing delays is the very messy highway 17, northbound 17. They have a lane blocked. You can see, it seems to be getting worse by the minute. We saw yellow earlier, turning orange. Now its red and unfortunately, if you get caught in that, you dont have many options. Another quick check at the bay bridge, we see slowing westbound 580 just before hopping on the toll plaza and before the bay bridge 19b. A live look at the toll plaza. The high wind advisory is still in place. Keep both hands on the wheel and thankfully, it seems like the roads are drying out. How is the weekend looking . On a wednesday before christmas, its going to be jurs a busy weekend. Shopping, trying to finish up and get the house ready for family to come in. Here we go this morning with rain moving in. It is quickly rolling out of here. The skies clearing farther to the north as we check out the weekend forecast. 56 degrees for the coast. 60 degrees inland. A developing story out of mexico this morning. Investigators are trying to find out how a bus carrying dozens of tourists flipped over carrying at least 12 people. They were headed to see the mayan ruins when the crash happened. 18 other people were injured, including seven americans. Passengers were from two cruise ships. The bus left tire marks and may have swerved before crashing. Sonoma county will soon provide a new resource to get fire storm victims back on their feet. Supervisors, yesterday, approved a new Government Office to help people bounce back from the wildfires. The office will have its own budget and start with a group of seven county staff members. We have breaking news that we have been bringing you since 5 30 this morning, looking live at los gatos where sheriffs deputies are investigating an overnight robbery. This is a neighborhood full of multimillion dollar homes off highway 9 at a home near red berry drive. We are on the scene. Authorities are investigating this. They say just after 4 00 a. M. , four men and a woman broke into a home. They are all in their 20s and deputies are trying to find them now. No confirmation on the victims or who was inside the home. Homes in the area are valued up to 7 million. Rain is hitting the bay area. We have a look at the bay bridge there on the left and the right you are looking at the slick conditions on the san mateo bridge. The video just came into the news room this morning. It happened in campbell around 1 00 south of 280. No one was at the homeless encampment at the time firefighters arrived. Police are investigating an officer involved shooting in the north bay. It happened around 8 00 on san clemente drive just east of highway 101. Police say officers were called about a missing atrisk man who appeared to be suicidal. He was armed and gesturing to the waistband. That man was shot, was hospitalized and expected to survive. The officer involved was put on paid administrative leave. A live look in livermore where people will improve their chances of becoming first time home buyers. At 1 00, the city will hold a lottery for a chance to purchase 1 of 15 homes at below market rate.
