Well, the senate has passed the most Sweeping Change in our nations tax laws in more than 30 years. Not a done deal yet. It has to go to conference and the final version has to be approved by both houses of congress before going to the president s desk. But its still leading to concern across the country. The bill would reduce corporate and individual taxes by nearly 1. 5 trillion over the next decade. So last night at about 3 00 in the morning i got a call. Reporter President Trump today describing the moment overnight he found out his first big legislative win looks locked in. For years, not since ronald reagan, has anything even come close. They havent passed them. They couldnt pass them. They couldnt get the votes. Reporter but republicans got the votes to pass that massive tax plan that would cut individual taxes, cut the corporate rate, and do away with some popular tax breaks while adding a new one for child care. A nonpartisan analysis estimates it will add a trillion dollars to the deficit. Billed as a middleclass cut, theres still no guarantee all americans will see their taxes go down in whats the biggest overhaul in decades approved in minutes. Tax cuts and jobs act as amended is passed. Reporter only hours after senators got their first look at the final bill that left democrats furious with the process they slammed as rushed and opaque. This is the tax bill. See how thick it is . I want you to take a look at this, folks. This is your government at work. Reporter now, back in 2009 republicans leveled the very same criticisms at democrats during debate on the Affordable Care act. This massive piece of legislation is being written behind closed doors. A new twist to a controversial president ial tweet tonight. Now theres a report mr. Trump did not write it. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide. Well, now the Washington Post is quoting two sources as saying the president s personal attorney authored the tweet, not the president. Critics are saying if the president knew flynn lied to the fbi and then asked then fbi director james comey to drop the investigation, it could be obstruction of justice. It appears the risk might be greater this year even with the flu vaccine. Our medical correspondent dr. Jon torres shows us what this means for you. Reporter at mimon diaz Medical Center in brooklyn employees are arming themselves against the flu. The more people who get the vaccine, the fewer people who get sick, the milder the flu season is for everyone. Reporter across the country, 7,000 confirmed cases so far. Thats double the number this time last year. Widespread in four states massachusetts, georgia, louisiana, and oklahoma. In california gordon blowbaum is trying to avoid a repeat of the miserable aches and pains. I was down for three or four days. Is that why you get the shot . Yeah. I dont want to go through that again. Reporter if youre over 65, there are two vaccine options. Designed to boost immune response. Thats important because up to a month after older adults have recovered from the flu theyre still at an increased risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Public Health Experts are also warning this years virus could be a formidable foe. There are signs the vaccine against the main strain is only 10 effective. But that doesnt mean you shouldnt get vaccinated. There is very little down side to getting vaccinated. And if anything, thats going to be the only way to really protect yourself, especially because with the holidays the congregation of people and family gettogethers and things like that, thats how it so easily gets spread. Just last month Santa Clara County reported its first flu death of the season. But the victim did not receive the vaccine and had other Health Complications as well. Rob mayeda here now talking about some rain. A little bit. But heres the thing. This is the most rain well probably see for the next seven to ten days. And its not a lot but enough to wet the roads in a few spots tonight around San Francisco, san rafael, and richmond right now. Well take you outside, show you christmas in the park in san jose. Still mid 50s. Dry for now. But well probably see a few showers approaching the Santa Clara Valley closer to midnight and 1 00 a. M. The hour byhour outlook coming up in just ray few moments. Dublin still relatively dry, 51 degrees, but heres where its not so dry. The Richmond San Rafael bridge. Wet wood raze. Same across the Golden Gate Bridge where its 57 degrees, a little windy out there too. The shower chance wills begin to disappear rather quickly as we head toward tomorrow morning but in the meantime you see the showers around Half Moon Bay pacifica heading up to San Francisco. Light rain at times around richmond into the north bay and the wide angle view on this shows you for the most part this is a moisturestarved system. Were not going to see big rain totals out of it between now and about 3 00 a. M. , though, eventually those showers will pass through the south bay. As we wake up tomorrow morning 7 00 to 8 00 still partly cloudy skies, maybe a stray shower around the Santa Cruz Mountains but during the day not only do the showers shut dun but the skies clear out as those north winds really help to clear out our skies and dry us out to wrap up the weekend. So as skies clear tomorrow morning in the north bay its going to be chilly. Upper 30s to low 40s. Mostly 40s elsewhere and high temperatures tomorrow afternoon. Even with the sunshine going to stay pretty cool. Low 60s for most of the Santa Clara Valley, trivalley, upper 50s closer to oakland. Peninsula temperatures coastside in the upper 50s, low 60s from the peninsula and likely upper 50s closer to San Francisco aught around the outer sunset. And north bay temperatures low 60s for your sunday. So were looking at a chance of a few showers ending before sunrise, but watch these wind speeds as we go through the day sunday, first picking up out of the north and then turning more strongly northeast as we get into monday we may see wind advisories for the north and east bay hills as those wind speeds really pickup by 5 00 monday, 30 to 40mileperhour gusts in the hills. This is because high pressures building in, pretty strong ridge of high pressure, which shortterm is going to bring up the wind and act like a wall for incoming storms after this one chance of showers passes on through. You see it here in the sevenday forecast. Not much showing. Weve got breezy and dry conditions. Looks like monday will be the windiest day, especially midday. For places like San Francisco and those inland hilltops. But for early december this is a very drylooking sevenday and longrange models keep things dry almost 10 to 14 days. So thats not good news. Maybe about g. For outdoor plans but we could use some rain and snow. Weve still got january, february. Its only the First Quarter of the rainfall season i guess. All right, rob, thanks. 49ers new quarterback about to take the field tomorrow. Im excited. Mindi bach may be. I dont know. There are a lot of fans in chicago to see Jimmy Garoppolo make his first start with the 49ers. Thats in part because the quarterback grew up 30 miles from soldier field. Our 49ers insider matt mayocko is in chicago to cover the game and took a side trip to Arlington Heights to discover what made garoppolo the player he is today. He played linebacker for us as a sophomore, for varsity. Backup quarterback, linebacker. Very good, athletic. That was the first thing that stood out, is how athletic he was. We used him as an outside linebacker, just trying to take advantage of that. Was never like worried about pressure. He always just weve got a game tonight, im going to do my best, see how the outcome comes. He never put that pressure on himself. You could tell he understood the game. Even as a younger kid, junior, senior in high school he enjoyed the time and preparation it takes to be successful. You could tell he liked to study and enjoyed, you know, kind of figuring out what checks he needed to make. Jimmy from the very first time i met him was never intimidated by being the thought of possibly being a great player. He expected himself to be great. The potential failure in not succeeding never bothered him. So when you get a kid like that and an open book and they just apply the teaching and hes blessed with some skills and hes bought in. When he was a sophomore, ive only said this about two kids ive coached, i said i think youre going to make the nfl. Game 3 of 4 on the road for the sharks. Theyre in tampa bay.
