Well, as we get a look at this storm, just wanted to analyze a few things with you as we look at how this storm continues to change as it moves off towards the west. Right now as it interacts with some of these islands, the convection around that hurricane not as symmetrical as it was. That shows that there may be a little bit of weakening that will work its way into the eye of the storm. It may go through an eyewall replacement cycle within the next several hours, which would then cause it to temporarily weaken before it does move back over to some of the waters, very warm water, and then it could strengthen once again. It is moving very closely to the Virgin Islands right now as far as the eye of that storm, but theyve had rain for several hours, and we do still have these wind speeds within that hurricane up to 185 miles an hour. As it continues to move off to the west, by friday we do expect it to move just to the north of cuba and north of puerto rico. Then it continues closer to the bahamas and it looks as if it could move into the miami area by sunday as a category 4 hurricane. I want to show you some more of those spaghetti plots because they are shifting off to the east a little bit which could mean that this could completely, possibly miss florida with the business end of this hurricane, which would be on the right side. We could see some of the weaker parts of this hurricane moving over miami as we head towards sunday and monday. Hopefully these tracks continue to shift off toward the east, but that would still put bahamas in the target of this hurricane. Well continue to follow that and the latest computer model guidance as we go closer into the next several days. All right, i know a lot of folks in florida are hoping for that, kari. iahp People Living near construction cranes are being told to evacuate their homes because those cranes are designed to stand up to winds 15 miles per hour. Right now as kari said, irma is way stronger than that. Also new, this was a scene at a gas station in baton raton. Moments ago someone on the island of st. Thomas sent a tweet to weatherman jim cantore. Take a listen. The man who took that video told jim cantore that he thought the wind speed was up to 150 miles an hour and he had just boarded up his back door. The villages itself will be a combination of apartments, shops, restaurants and public plazas that will give folks views of mt. Diablo. That could take several years to complete. Well, im a longtime rider of bart, at least 25 years, and i think new investment needs to go towards additional cars, better security and safety. I think currently the system is overtaxed. That victim is expected to survive but police say the man had just gotten off a muni bus right around midnight when two men tried to rob him, and thats when the victim was shot. It happened near angelinas, a popular coffee shop. The suspect fled in a car and so far there is no description of the suspects nor their car. And the Investigation Continues this morning into the deadly shooting in east san jose. It happened in a neighborhood near the i680 and 101 interchange. Sources tell us this was a driveby shooting. It happened after 9 00 last night, and police say the victim died at the hospital. So far we dont have any description of the suspects vehicle, nor if police are saying this shooter is a danger to the public. And a critical hearing in the indicate steinle murder case today. The federal agent whose stolen gun was used in that shooting will testify in a pretrial hearing. Yesterday the judge presiding over the case made several important rulings. Among them, the judge decided what questions lawyers can and cannot ask the agent. Steinle was shot on San Franciscos pier 14 two years ago. We were talking about juice prices, and you said the spaghetti model shows it a little off, maybe missing florida . This is the last update of those computer models now as we approach the 11 00 hour, heading into 12 00. There will be more updates in the next few days. Things may change, and thats what were expecting, especially that far out as we try to get florida prepare. Were already seeing it interacting with the u. S. Virgin islands right now, and there may be some jogs in those tracks as we head toward the end of the week. But right now we are still looking at wind speeds of 185 miles an hour. We have those updates every three hours, and then we also have the Hurricane Hunters flying over the hurricane, dropping in instruments and getting new measure measurememe the next few hours. This is still over cuba the next few days and this could move into southern florida, but keep in mind its a very large storm. It spans 400 miles as far as those rain bands. It could still have an impact, but with the eastern part of the hurricane over the atlantic, this could give less of a blow to florida which would be great news, and then we dont have right now the expectations of this moving into the gulf. We also have Tropical Storm jose right behind irma, now with wind speeds of 70 miles an hour. Its just below hurricane status. It is expected to become at least a category 2 hurricane, and this will be a little bit farther to the north and will curve to the north, so it should not affect most of the mainland as we go into the next several days. Now, we also have Tropical Storm katia, and this is in the gulf of mexico near tampico, and over the next few days, this will start to dip to the south but could strengthen to a category 1 hurricane before it moves into eastern mexico near ver a cra c. A lot of things to be watching in the tropics for the next several days. For us we continue on with some very mild weather. Still some fog along the coast. In the peninsula, 76 degrees right now. At 65, we see the low viz is ib visibility there across the golden gate bridge. As we check out the 7day forecast on the bottom of the screen, it looks like we do have seven more days of some nice weather, but we will have a chance of rain in the forecast after today. Were looking at those temperatures up to 88 degrees, 85 in san jose, and San Francisco will be up to 73 degrees. I want to give you the timing of when these showers will move in. Well see clouds increasing on the coast, a few of those showers just offshore. By the time you wake up, mostly over the coast, we could see some light rain moving in, and that could also be in San Francisco. A few more of those spotty showers moving in, but the possibility of seeing that rain, very light. Probably wont see it in san jose, but the amount that we could measure could be a f few. 100 of an inch with a few higher amounts on santa cruz mountain. Hurricane irma roared into the caribbean today with that recordsetting force and is moving on to puerto rico. It is set to arrive there and possibly florida by the end of the weekend. As people are hunkering down, preparing for what could be the harshest portion of this storm coming in later today, they are stocking up on those lastminute perishables. Secondly, those emergency shelters, 456 of them across the island, are now beginning to fill up. Entire families are coming in saying, we need food, we need water, we need backup generators and we need protection. Finally some people are just stranded here. Even those who want to evacuate cant. More than 150 flights have been canceled just coming in and out of san juan alone. A stubborn brush fire still burning in gilroy this morning and firefighters continue to make progress. Right now its about 65 contained but about 100 acres burned since saturday night. Full containment is expected by saturday. Thankfully nobody was hurt and no buildings damaged so far. You can see those suspects rushing into a target store in emoryville with guns aimed at employees, ordering everyone to get down on the ground. This happened just after midnight on saturday which is when the store was closing and the cash was being collected from the registers. Those masked men then jumped into a silvercolored car which was waiting right outside, and they took off. Happening today, a text sent to san jose swimmers was sent. A former san jose coach is expected in court. He had inappropriate messages with swimmers for over a year. He is in court after two or three called on him for inappropriate behavior. Investigators continue to comb the scene overnight trying to identify the remains. The crash happened near the farm small town of mendoda, about 45 minutes from downtown fresno. You can see that layer as we look from mt. Hamilton over the south bay. At least it has lifted a little bit more. We dont have such poor air quality that we had during that hot weather, but we do still have that wildfire burning nearby and we can see its evidence as we look at the smoke over the south bay. Woodside has some clear visibility right now with some sunshine and were seeing patchy fog right there along the coast and also for parts of the north bay. We can see some of the low clouds still rolling by us as we get that view from tiburon with the temperature there at 70 degrees. 80 in san jose and 79 degrees in livermore. Oakland now at 68 degrees. But look at the difference between yesterday and today. It is much cooler, especially near santa cruz and farther to the south. But most of us feeling temperatures anywhere from about 2 to 3 to 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. So it is much nicer out there. Our high temperatures this afternoon reaching into the mid80s for the south bay. East bay up to 90 in danville and hayward 81 degrees. The peninsula reaching 82 degrees in palo alto. San mateo 79 degrees and San Francisco expecting highs on the embarcadero at 72. For the north bay in novato, expect a high of 86, sonoma 83 degrees. Our temperatures right where they should be this time this year, and well see a disturbance again with a chance of rain. Youre looking at the 7day forecast at the bottom of the screen. In the meantime were going to have some cooler air and more clouds. As the cloud cover starts to increase by late tonight, you could see some rain when you wake up early tomorrow, especially along the coast, parts of San Francisco, marin county as well. This dash cam video was just released. A Prince George county Police Sergeant found the couple along the side of that busy highway. They were trying to rush to the hospital but the baby was not going to wait. The video shows the officer slipping on gloves and helping the mother, and in less than five minutes, kari, she delivered that healthy baby boy. The officer describes his side of the experience. It was game time and her child was coming now. I literally caught the baby as he came. I was just praying for him to cry. So i dont know if i started crying louder or if he started crying louder at that point. The mother had gone to the hospital earlier in the day with contractions but then they sent her home because they said she wasnt ready. The baby said, yeah, i dont think so.
