BRANDON — A man serving a life sentence for the 2002 murder of an 18-year-old woman expressed remorse and regret during multiple conversations with a prison chaplain, a Brandon courtroom heard.
Michael Bridges was convicted in 2005 of first-degree murder in the killing of Erin Chorney in Brandon. The then-24-year-old was sentenced to 25 years in prison without parole.
Thursday marked the fourth day of the hearing to determine whether he can apply for parole early under a now-repealed section of the Criminal Code (the so-called "faint hope clause"). It will not determine if Bridges will be granted parole, if successful.
