Republican steve garvey, who, according to the most recent poll released friday by the la times and the Berkeley Institute of governmental studies, leads schiff by two points. The top two finishers, regardless of party, will move on to the Runoff Election in november. This was garvey last week reacting to an ad schiff has run attacking the former dodger star. Another democrat in the race, katie porter, says its an effort to boost the republican. Im really not running against my opponents. Im running for the people of california. Uh, what they do is, is their business. Uh, but if mr. Schiff wants me, um, he can have me, so to speak. He thinks he can appeal to people by going on fox and attacking me and, you know, sort of throwing red meat to the maga crowd. Thats really not going to cut it in california. He is really out of step. I think with california values, we caught up with porter on saturday in irvine when she voted for herself alongside her son, a first time voter turnout so far has been low. We feel like its a very close race. Weve seen the polling go up and down. Low turnout elections are tough to poll because we just have a lot of people who usually come out are staying home. Another democrat in the race, oakland congresswoman barbara lee, campaigned in la sunday and was at San Fernando High School monday. In a recent interview, she told us california voters should be concerned that for the first time in 30 years, the state may not have a female senator. Representation matters. We need a woman of color in the United States senate from california because theres so many women who, um, can relate to the challenges of a woman, of color, someone whos been, uh, below the poverty line, lived below the poverty line, been unsheltered, raised kids. A reminder to voters that in the senate race, youre asked to vote twice. Youre voting for the open senate seat, a six year terms, and then the few weeks remainder of the late senator Dianne Feinsteins terms. The justices rejecting colorados attempts to remove the former president from the state gop ballots. The ruling also ended similar efforts in illinois and maine. You cannot take somebody out of a race. The voters can take the person out of the race very quickly, but a court shouldnt be doing that. And the Supreme Court saw that tomorrow trump will face off against nikki haley and primary contests in colorado and 14 other states. Ill defeat donald trump. Fair and square, but i want him on that ballot. So, so far, earlier primaries and polling show that come november, it will likely be a rematch of the 2020 election between donald trump and joe biden. Nearly 90 of california voters havent returned their ballots yet, according to our Media Partners at the mercury news. Tomorrow could be a record low for voter turnout in a state primary. Overall turnout for the last primary election in 2022 was 33, the states all time low was a 2012 primary at just 31. This year could come in much lower than that in the bay area. Ive never seen that many cars stuck on the side of the road, so we lend it a hand, pushed a few, helped to shovel because of the intense snow flurries. Caltrans said it was down to just eight functioning snow blowers of its 30 in the area. China live founder george chen says they first tested out opening for lunch and are now making it a regular thing monday through friday for the foreseeable future, due to its success offering classic food dishes like the ones i tasted monday night. Theyre urging voters to vote no on measure b, the santa clara residents right now have the power to control the police department. They they are direct constituents to the chief of police. The Santa Clara Police union believes an elected chief makes them more accountable and reachable to residents. What you have to say, what you want to see done is not filtered through a government. Bureaucrats lens. Its not a game of telephone line like it is in a lot of other bay area cities. Its not screened by a police commission. On the other side, those who are yes, for measure b question the current system. Three out of six of the last nine elections for chief of police. Theres only one person on the ballot, a point of contention has to do with the required that the police chief must be a santa clara resident. Well, if yes, on measure b wins, that could change to a nationwide search for a new police chief. Now, we have 153 sworn officers, but only ten of them live in the city. So thats our pool to elect from. You dont really have a vote if you dont really have choices. If you only have one person on the ballot, thats not a choice or if that person was picked by another association. We want santa clara to have the very best police chief possible, and all the other cities in california have gone to this. Were the last holdout, and it doesnt make sense to me. Both sides hope residents show their voice by their vote, and we think that for such a significant change in the way that the city is policed, its super important that the residents know whats going on. They know that they have a right. They know that they have something to lose in santa clara. A Tesla Cybertruck crashed into the iconic Beverly Hills hotel sign early this morning. The vehicle landed with its front wheels over a low concrete wall in front of the sign in Beverly Hills. Youre in the rain shadow of the Santa Cruz Mountains and 8005 hundreds in concord. As we check out our sierra snow, there is going to be more snow coming a week from today. Were talking 19in donner, 12in kirkwood, but this system that is going to just kind of scrape us is only going to bring a few inches to the sierra 40s and 50s on your temperatures, right now. A beautiful view from pier 39 tomorrow. Spotty showers and patchy fog to start the day wednesday. Scattered showers are in the forecast and thursday and friday weve got sunshine and warmer weather for you in case youre craving that. So 4 a. M. Tomorrow. Watch out.
