So this hot air is hanging on even longer for another day. So heres the heat advisory, same area as it was yesterday. Look at these temperatures right now. Were near 70 in the city currently. It is quite warm this morning. Everybody pretty much waking up to numbers in the 60s. So it is a mild start out there. Heres future tracker. Temperatures by 9 a. M. Were warming pretty fast. Look at these numbers. By noon, everybody is back into the 80s and then once again, later on this afternoon, widespread 90s pretty much everybody yesterday afternoon met or exceeded 90 degrees. Were likely going to see that once again today. So heat is kind of a cumulus live effect day after day of some very hot temperatures can really take its toll on your body. So please take it easy. Today, 90in the city today, 90 in oakland, 96. In san jose, 95 in santa rosa, 97 in concord. Even along the coast, upper 80s to lower 90s. Well take a look at the weekend forecast coming up in about eight minutes. Lets say hi to gloria and see how traffics doing on this friday. Good morning, drew. We want to get started with a look at your emeryville camera at highway 80. And thats because we are getting reports of a motorcycle crash. This is eastbound 80 at powell street. And were hearing that the crash is blocking some lanes there. But the good news is were not seeing any slowdowns right now on the eastbound side of the camera. And now a look at your drive time graphics. And one thing to note here, westbound four from antioch to concord, thats going to take you 23 minutes at thanks so much, gloria. Now were turning to fleet week because you probably heard it if you were in or around San Francisco all day yesterday. The blue angels are here and theyre ready for their first show this afternoon. And of course, more later this weekend. Abc7 News Reporter lena howland is live this morning with a rundown of what we can expect. Hi, lena. Hey, reggie. Good morning. We are at the marina green this morning and this is one of the primary spots where you can see that incredible air show happening this afternoon. Its happening primarily between the Golden Gate Bridge and alcatraz. Now, we watched yesterday as the blue angels made up of navy and marine pilots were out practicing in the afternoon to headline this weekends set of air shows. And what a sight we found some folks already out watching their practice session from alcatraz. Others took to the docks of fishermans wharf, and many watched in the shadows of the Golden Gate Bridge here at the marina green. Although land is obviously the cheapest option, alcatraz tour tickets could put you on the island for 53. Many have opted to cruise with captain mike on his boat. The lovely martha, for around 80 a person for a much closer view. Theres still a couple of boats with availability, but weve been actually sold out for this trip since march. Really . Right over the boat. I mean, you could see the you could see the guy in the hill, you could see his helmet, you could see the pilots helmet. Sometimes ill even wave at us and before the air, show the parade of ships is expected to start at 11 00. And the air show is expected to start right after that, just after 1230. But if you plan on coming out to fleet week here at the marina green for a close view at the air show, remember, youre going to want to get here early because parking is a little tricky. The air show is not only a dream come true, its also a homecoming. Lieutenant commander Scott Goosens is from San Francisco and says he wanted to be a blue angel since he was a kid. A pinch yourself moment getting up in the jet, flying over the bay, seeing the Golden Gate Bridge, seeing my house, high school, all that was just an incredible, Incredible Opportunity and one it felt like a dream, you know, a dream come true. If you will. Thats very cool. The blue angels say they do about 120 practice flights between january and march. The pilots hope, karl the fog is not going to pose any problems for them this weekend. Were very familiar with karl the fog. Were hoping karl will take take it easy on us this weekend and stay off shore. Were hoping karl stays away. Were hoping he he takes the takes the weekend off. Please, karl. Yeah. Last year, karl really came in and said, you wont see these planes today, the blue angels are getting ready to fly at nearly 700 miles an hour. A union rep presenting thousands of Kaiser Permanente Health Care Workers will consider a longer two week strike if an agreement isnt reached today. More than 75,000 workers are on strike. And gloria, whats happening now . Is there any progress being made . You know, kumasi, oakland based kaiser maintains that progress is being made, but those on the picket line disagree, saying their needs are still not being met. One of the key issues here is staffing levels. Kaiser declined to be interviewed but tells abc7 news it has met the unions demands to hire 10,000 employees. But employees are refuting those claims as they keep throwing out these numbers that they apparently theyve already reached the 10,000 new employees who are these employees . Because when you walk into those facilities, you are not seeing new faces at all. The union says at kaisers offer to raise minimum wage to 23 an hour falls short of the 25 an hour it wants multiple state Assembly Members and local City Council Members joined striking workers at some bay area kaiser facilities yesterday. The hospitals are still open. Doctors and some nurses are not on strike, but some services are closed or only being offered with limited hours. Whats being considered to be the Largest Health care strike in us history ends tomorrow. The union says it will consider an even longer strike if an agreement is not made today. Koumassi. Thank you, gloria 900 San Francisco Public School workers could soon be on the picket lines. A union that represents paraeducators Food Service Workers and custodians has authorized a strike if they cannot not reach a deal with San Francisco unified. They want the district to keep up with what the city pays for similar jobs, which they say is up to 25 higher. The district says its committed to negotiating in good faith. A date for a possible strike has not yet been set. And now the final farewell for senator Dianne Feinstein family, friends, the Vice President and more than 40 current and past members of congress were on hand for that Memorial Service just in front of San Francisco city hall. And the lasting message is clear. The former mayor and senator paved the way with a sense of grace and authenticity that was all her own. Abc7 News Reporter tim johns is taking a look at the moments to remember that from the steps of city hall and through the streets of San Francisco. Dianne feinstein was remembered thursday at a Memorial Service honoring her life. She showed us a world where women lead, where we lift each other up so that girls like me could follow in her footsteps. The service featured speeches from San Francisco mayor london breed Vice President Kamala Harris and former House Speaker nancy pelosi, several of whom took time to recognize how much of a trailblazer feinstein was in, especially for women. Dianne led the women of america have come a long way. Our country has come a long way. And you helped move the ball forward while feinsteins career in the senate spanned decades. To those here in the bay area, shes also best known as mayor of San Francisco. So during that time, she led the city through multiple crises and helped transform it into the place it is today. Saved our beloved cable cars, created the iconic pier 39 and fought for the Lgbtq Community during the height of the hiv aids epidemic. Many of thursdays speakers reflected on feinsteins toughness and can do attitude. A strong personality that guided her through major turning points in california. History, says abc7 news insider phil matier. Think about it the civil rights movement, the vietnam war, the aids epidemic, the gay revolution in the summer of love , the tumultuous 70s with terror groups in the bay area. Not all speakers focused on feinsteins many professional achievements, though. Her granddaughter eileen mariano, shared her memories of feinstein as a loving grandmother. My grandmother was my biggest cheerleader. She was an unwavering support system. She never failed to tell me how proud she was of me. Even after leaving local politics, feinstein stayed active in San Francisco affairs , a fact that many on the streets of the city say theyre thankful for. There are a lot of people in San Francisco who are so proud of her and proud that shes from this area. I heard that shes one of the best politicians thats come out of california. And even though shes now gone, many believe feinsteins legacy will continue. You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough. In San Francisco, tim johns, abc7 news. Today is the hottest day of the air show forecast. 90 degrees in the city today. It will be hot and sunny. Its still quite warm on saturday, 86 degrees. But by sunday i think, karl, the fog is going to try and make his appearance on sunday. So the best bet, if you want to see the blue angels, do it today or tomorrow by sunday, its a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures cooler right around 71 degrees. High pressure still in control today and tomorrow. Acting like that heat pump, that heat advisory has been extended into tomorrow as well. So were lasting through saturday evening with these above average temperatures. Heres how the day plays out. Were all starting in the 70s by 9 a. M, that heat advisory kicks in at noon and we have temperatures well into the 80s. And then again, just like yesterday, its another hot afternoon well into the 80s along the coast. Everybody away from the coast is going into the 90s. Our hottest spots going into the upper 90s. So 97 in concord today 90in both oakland and San Francisco, 96. In san jose, 93 in napa, 91 in palo alto, even santa cruz coming in with a hot high of 91 degrees. The three day forecast shows you were warm to hot again today. Tomorrow that heat advisory is still in effect. But by sunday, we start to see that marine layer come back in the form of fog cooler temperatures. Were in just a matter of hours this area is going to be packed with people just hoping to get their eyes on this incredible air show. Now, if you were in the city yesterday, chances are you heard the roar of these prized blue angels made up of navy and marine pilots out practicing. But its not just the blue angels. This years air show happening today, through sunday, will also include the blue angels, fat albert, a Navy Parachute Team called the leapfrogs and the patriots jet team, just to name a few. Organizers say its also the only air show in the us with a commercial airliner. The united 777, to perform a fully choreographed act. We found some folks out watching yesterdays practice session from alcatraz. Others took to the docks of fishermans wharf, and many watched in the shadows of the Golden Gate Bridge here at the marina green. I like feeling like im on top gun. Thats what it made me feel like. Like i was part of the movie. They go up and you cant hear them and then you cant hear them until they get right above you. And then just as fast as they come, theyre gone. Whats 777 . 777 before the air show, the largest parade of ships on the west coast is expected to start at 11 00. And can be seen from the Golden Gate Bridge to the bay bridge. The San Francisco Fire Department will lead the escort with their fireboat shooting jets of water into the air to celebrate the fleets arrival. Now the air show will kick off shortly after that, just a little bit after 1230 this afternoon. Here are a few things you should know about the blue angels. They got their start back in 1946, and the team made its first flight that year in jacksonville, florida. The smoke you see from the jets isnt just for show. It also helps with safety, allowing the pilots to see one another while performing stunts. Just how close do the planes get to one another . How about 18in . This happens when they pull off a maneuver called the diamond 360, a fog can always be a factor, of course, in the bay area, in order to fly, the blue angels need at least three nautical miles of visibility, and the cloud ceiling has to be at least 1300ft. Okay, carl, you know what they need, so stay away. But drew is saying that if you want to avoid the fog friday, go today or go tomorrow. Yeah, yeah. The next possible vote for House Speaker could happen wednesday. Now to the migrant crisis. The Biden Administration has cleared the way to build more border wall along the usmexico border and the announcement is raising questions because the president campaigned against the wall in 2020. Yeah President Joe Biden says he is still against the wall but has to build an additional 18 miles of it because of a decision made during the trump administration.
