Residents there tell us they will deal with road closures and outages if that is what needs to be done to keep people safe. It can be a busy road with people going through to the beach here but its never terrible. Its not like the road to stenson. Its a back way. But definitely less traffic when the gate is closed. People who live on this road or any open space area, were all thinking about it every day. So, we appreciate the red flag warnings. Definitely disappointed this is going into place but totally understand that having people up here is increasing the risk that they want to take the right precautions. Reporter pg e is warning it might shut the power off to keep its equipment from possibly sparking a fire in the windy, hot, dry conditions that are expected. It has already been a deadly destructive fire season and this windy weather is expected for at least another week. California is adding an extra layer of protection to its covid19 vaccine approval process and announcing a group of 11 scientists will independently review the safety of any vaccine that receives fda approval before it is distributed in california. We will do our own independently reviewed process with our world class experts that just happened to live here in the state of california treasuretrove of experts. The committee includes doctors from San Franciscos department of public health, ucsf and uc berkeley and stanford. One ucsf epidemiologist we talked to knows many of the experts on that committee. Enough distrust of the vaccine going around as it is that if this, if a Committee Like this takes an extra week and that encourages a greater proportion of people to get vaccinated, then its hugely important. Warmer day today than it was yesterday. 58 right now in san jose. You can see pretty quiet for your commute other than that patchy fog that is roaming around the coast. The Golden Gate Bridge and ive seen some also around napa that was a couple hours ago. Some floating around the bay also. Lets take a look at the winds. The big issue with this particular red flag warning. You can see as we head into the afternoon and early evening hours, they peak and they start to push around 20, 25 with gusts even higher than that up to 40. Higher elevations and then they calm down a little bit and overnight one more burst of wind and that is the key with this forecast. Not a complete onslot of winds the entire time this red flag warning is out, but going to be bursts now and then and thats what you need to be ready for and have that Defensible Space ready because not only today but fire threats coming up in the accuweather sevenday forecast. An attraction built to celebrate the 150th anniversary of San Franciscos Golden Gate Park finally opened to the public this week. The giant observation wheel opens tomorrow and the entire park has been transformed during this pandemic. The rec and Parks Department says in the last seven months they worked on 150 improvement projects. That includes a new multimillion dollar Tennis Center and clubhouse and upgrades to the Japanese Tea Garden and the conservatory of flowers. So, were seeing things bloom that maybe wouldnt have before. Were seeing our banana tree produce tons of fruit. Thats what mike was talking about.
