If you are in the area of deer park road to Crystal Springs to the silverado trail, you need to leave right now, according to cal fire and the county of napa. The expanded from silverado trail from lark mead lane in calistoga and deer park road in st. Helena. The town of angwin is also under an evacuation advisory and we actually now have pam mcgivern on the phone, a resident of st. Helena. Good morning, this is liz with abc 7. Yes, good morning, liz. Good morning. First i just need to ask, are you in a safe location, you and your family, anyone youre with . Yes, i am. The Fire Department just left my property and hes got a truck parked out in my driveway, theyre going to utilize both of our water wells that we have to water our vineyard estate including our swimming pool, be able to siphon. I showed them the access point for the neighbors so they can go in between all three properties without having to use the main road. Its frightening. This is so close. Im standing here right now looking out off my patio, and its probably just a few miles up on the hillside. Its spreading pretty quickly. The Fire Department says their biggest concern right now is the wind change thats picking up, and its supposedly going to get worse this morning. Ill be leaving here shortly. Im not in any danger at this point, but everybody has evacuated. Yes, pam, its remarkable how calm you are right now. Thank you for sharing those details with us and i know that youre with some fire crews right now so that is good that you are in a safe place. Where are you exactly and take us back to when you first got the alert to evacuate. Were you awoken by alert or already kind of on standby . No, i have a neighbor that lives further down the road, and she was awoken by her neighbor, and she could see the flames, but she doesnt have the front seat view i have, that was at 3 00 a. M. I almost didnt pick the phone up and im so glad i did. I darted out the door, and i saw the very beginning of the fire start, and its escalated probably ten times or more. Its already going up on the hillsi hillside. Ive heard several propane explosions from tanks and just i dont know how far i am, but i think its probably three miles. Pam you say youre on a winery. A lot of people are familiar with it, people who dont live in that area because it is a destination. Have you seen this fire take over any structures at this point yet . Absolutely. The homes that are up on this hillside are burning. Theres a huge vineyard up above that ive admired for many years and theres a home that is at the very, very top of the mountain. They have panoramic views. Im sure its being destroyed at this time, because im looking in the direction that it was. The fire is above i want to say dancing hares vineyard, so the area is kind of adjacent to howell mountain. I live on Crystal Springs road below the hospital, but more going toward the vineyard estates, at the end, so theres a lot of homes that are further up the road, Small Properties and then it gets to be an exclusive enclave of vineyard estates. We have tenic e iacres, theres larger properties. Pam, i said it again but it is really remarkable how calm you are despite a frightening situation. I know we say its the new normal but it really has become that way for so many of you up there. Im not i was here the last fire which was, gosh, im kind of brain dead right now because im in shock, but it was about a month ago, so there was a huge fire and i stayed through that. I was one of the only people that stayed and the roads were closed, nobody answered once they left the property, and i was safe but this is normal for me. Ive been here since 2007, and i was here for the huge fire that destroyed santa rosa, that ran over the calistoga grade. I saw flames from my patio in the direction of calistoga, then we had another fire two years ago. Im kind of numbed by it and you know, its not something that is going to change. I really believe that were going to have a lot of this going on in the future. Absolutely. Pam, thank you so much for taking the time during all of this right now to speak with us and share what you know with us. Pam mcgivern stay safe. We are thinking of you and sending good thoughts to you and your family. Lisa, just like she said, people are numb to it at this point, so sad, every single year. She said, its not going to change. Its not going to change. Its going to get worse, unfortunately. The conditions for the weather today with the gusty winds just beginning right now, theyre just in the upper elevations, theyll work down to the surface, theyll continue and get another burst overnight tonight, into monday, and then on top of that, were warming another 15 degrees today from yesterdays highs, which were in the upper 60s to the low 90s. Today well be in the upper 70s at the coast to 100 degrees inland. No fog right now, and as we look where the fire is, were looking at temperatures in the mid70s, 30 relative humidity, winds out of the north. Theyre gusting to 17 but that certainly doesnt tell the whole story. Around that area, the winds are gusting from 20 to 30 miles an hour. We had a wind gust last hour of over 50 miles an hour. Right now were 53 miles an hour. Mt. Diablo out of the dry direction, and these winds will continue to bring breezy conditions right here at the surface as well. Red flag warning continues through tomorrow. The surface gusty vacaville up to 24 miles an hour. Temperatures upper 40s Half Moon Bay but 70s from brentwood to the delta. 58 in santa rosa, about the only thing we have going for us this morning is the Cool Temperatures but theyre rapidly going to warm. 16 degrees warmer by the delta, cooler by the coast and going to warm so quickly from the wind, and then of course from the sun when we get going with that warming today. Right now the air quality is good except for san jose, thats all going to change with these winds. Were under spare the air alert and we will begin to see more haze in the south bay and the east bay. So a look right now what you can expect, this was a fog forecast, but i need to take this out, theres no fog. Its going to come up from the south as we get into your monday. Thats going to be our form of relief, but in terms of our winds, this is what were looking at today. The winds continue to gust. Theyll subside a little bit this afternoon, but then just tonight into tomorrow, reinvague rat reinvigorat reinvigorated, another push of gusty winds monday and they subside and the red flag warning expires at 11 00 tomorrow. 101 in concord. We get cooler into later tomorrow with the fog, moving up from the south but its not going to help our friends out in the east bay. Its going to take another day to help out the areas around the bay shoreline. So well begin to see the heat ease up for some of you tomorrow, but its today and tomorrow the hot weather even building on the heat for some warmer temperatures into your monday. 99 today in concord, look for 90 in oakland. 89 San Francisco. Here are your upper 70s to near 80, right at the host, but with the strong offshore winds, were going to get that heat all the way down to our beaches and in the city, check it out, could see a record. Records are in the low 90s but were talking 89 today downtown. The accuweather sevenday forecast high fire danger and dangerous heat today and tomorrow with gusty offshore winds, triple digit heat through the week inland, seeing a little about the of a sea breeze late tomorrow around the bay and at the coast but just use extreme caution today. We are in this already and we havent even seen the dry, dry air and excessive heat at 7 00 in the morning, so it doesnt bode well for what is to come. Well, considering the sun is not even up yet, and we have another 15 degrees of warming, well be below 10 relative humidity up here in the north bay, where right now we are at 28 . So look at the current fire and youre looking at temperatures in the 70s, 28 relative humidity with that north wind gusting to around 17 to 20 miles an hour, and this entire area here looking at winds anywhere from 20 to about 40 miles an hour, but of course your eye goes to mt. Diablo where the winds are up to 52 miles an hour, out of the north. The East Foothills around 39 miles an hour, so the current winds here will continue throughout the day. Theyre going to work down to the surface, theyll relax a little bit throughout the afternoon, and then tonight another burst of some very gusty winds into early monday morning. So where we live most of us anyway at the surface, the winds are gusty. They typically are through the delta but the temperatures already near 80 degrees there right now, and you can see the jump up in temperatures from 4 to 16 degrees in this region, while numbers dropped into the upper 40s here, very fall season scenario with the cool numbers, the gusty winds. Here is a look at mt. Diablo, hazy. Spare the air alert. 58 in Mountain View and gilroy. 50 mafl moHalf Moon Bay. Mt. Tam the haze at the surface. Temperatures build tomorrow. Today 15 to 20 degrees warmer than our actual highs which should be 70 to 79 this time of year. 57 in novato. 58 in livermore. Now, this view look how hazy it is, San Francisco, yes, with the lighter winds and now the north winds thats why were getting into the haze, the smoke, is going to last through monday, with the gusty winds, and then the heat wave for our east bay valleys really no relief until friday and the smokey conditions will unfortunately be back with us. Moderate air quality from Central Valley changing from good to moderate into San Francisco. By the afternoon well be under the yellow, but as we go through the general picture, you can see how these winds really impact the skies, so the north winds allowing for the oranges and the reds to come back into play, and thats the poor air quality, not as bad as weve had but we already have a fire burning in the north bay. Well add in that smoke to the poor air quality. As we look at the wind gusts, look at the reds here, 9 00 this morning were looking at the winds out of the northnortheast, so will back off a little so the reds going to yellows by 3 00 today, and then look what happens tonight, 11 00 into the Early Morning hours, we are right back where we were with wind gusts up to perhaps 40 miles an hour. This is not only the upper elevations, were looking at the red flag warning for the lower elevations of the north and the east bay. Here is a current check of our relative humidity, so right now thats really bad. 17 throughout the afternoon. 4 00 12 00 santa rosa, 18 san ramon. This is how dry the atmosphere is going to be. No moisture in the atmosphere, and then as we go into your monday, its going to be even drier. Were not looking at any fog. Temperatures will still be on the mild side, and throughout the day today in the south bay, we are back into the 90s for you in morgan hill, 96 in gilroy. 93 in santa clara. No sea breeze today. Temperatures will be in the 90s from palo alto to redwood city. 89 in millbrae. If youre right at the coast, should be kind of nice, 70s to near 80 but the minute you head a little bit east were near 90 downtown San Francisco, 97 sonoma. The breezy winds, 100 degree heat up for santa rosa, 90 in oakland, hazy as you go out towards our east bay valleys and this is where the folks are not going to get a break for the next several days, were talking triple digits. The accuweather seven day forecast then, the red flag warning and our heat advisory through tomorrow, the very gusty offshore winds critical fire weather throughout the day today and tomorrow and looking at a bit of a sea breeze late sunday into monday and as we get through the rest of the week, its the east bay valleys that will really be watching because the heat is going to stay there until at least friday. Here comes october, and maybe by next weekend well be back to average. Liz . All right, lisa, thank you. All californians will be able to vote safely from home. Gov i have a neighbor that lives further down the road and woken by her neighbor and she could see the flames and im glad i picked up the phone. I darted out the door and i saw the very beginning of the fire start and its escalated probably ten times or more. Its already going up on the hillside. That was pam mcgiveern. She is in st. Helena. Her home is potentially threatened. She lives on Crystal Springs road in st. Helena. Firefighters have been using her pool to help fight this fire. She was giving us an update earlier. Were following this breaking news this morning, the wildfire burning in the north bay, now at 50 acres were told. In the last half hour we spoke with the st. Helena resident who said she could see flames a few miles away. A frightening situation for her and she described how she feels numb to it, this is just part of their yearly routine so she was able to speak with us about what thats been like and how she woke up to the news she needed to evacuate. Take a listen. I have a neighbor that lives further down the road and woken by her neighbor and she could see the flames but she doesnt have the view that i have, that was at 3 00 a. M. And i almost didnt pick up the phone. Im so glad i did. I darted out the door, and i saw the very beginning of the fire start, and its escalated probably ten times or more. Its already going up on the eastern hillside. Wasnt there before. Ive heard several propane explosions from tanks and just i dont know how far i am, but i think its probably like three miles. Pam, you say youre on a winery. I know that area. A lot of people are familiar with it, even people who dont live in that area because it is a destination. The fire is above, i want to say dancing hares vineyard, so the area is kind of adjacent to howell mountain. I live on Crystal Springs road below the hospital, but more going toward the vineyard estates, at the end, so theres a lot of homes that are further up the road, Small Properties and then it gets to be an exclusive enclave of vineyard estates. We have ten acres, theres larger properties. Im numb. All right, we want to thank pam for sharing that with us, because lisa, hard to hear youre numb to something so terrifying and it is happening over and over and over again. I understand. If youve lived here for just a couple years, you know it has gotten worse in the last five years for sure, and if youre a lifelong resident, then you know. 28 relative humidity and 70 degree temperatures, mid70s where the fires are. 30 to 50 mile an hour northeast winds, red flag warning and heat advisory. Temperatures are climbing to near 90 in the city today. 100 inland, spare the lair alert and hazy out there throughout the next several days. We dont get a break inland all week. We should see a sea breeze develop late tomorrow. Liz . All right, lisa, thank you. Thank you for joining us here on abc 7 mornings. Im liz kreutz along with lisa argen.
