The state Eviction Moratorium was set to expire on wednesday and in place for renters that will last through february of next year. Lets break down exactly whats inside of Assembly Bill 3088. Tenants are now protected from covid19related evictions until february of next year. Again, those are covid19 related hardships that occur between the start of the pandemic, march 4th, through august 31st which was yesterday. Now, moving forward and starting today, tenants must pay at least 25 of rent due to avoid eviction. The bill also states a bicannote evicted during this time. This just kicks the can down the road. Im scared that theyre going to evict me and i have a 16yearold daughter and my husband and my husbands mom we all live here. Most important is that we identify funding for residents to pay their back rent and that leads to rental Housing Providers paying their own obligation so they dont lose their units to foreclosure or to the bank and that would not be good for anyone.
