The grapevine has been shut down since last night between lake hughes road and grapevine road. There is no estimated time for reopening. The grapevine closure is complicating whats expected to be the worst Holiday Travel day. Aaa predicts people trying to leave los angeles will face delays 1 1 2 times what they are normally. In San Francisco, it will be double the normal traffic. Aaa says between 4 00 and 6 00 p. M. Today will be the worst time to be on the road. I feel for all those people stuck on the grapevine this morning. That looks a mess. Happening today, a group of moms occupying a vacant home in oakland will go to court to challenge an eviction order. The group moved into the magnolia street home with their children last month to draw attention to the bay area homeless crisis. A judge ordered them to leave but hes giving them a chance to make their case for staying. The Real Estate Firm wedge wood says it wants to sell the home to a first time home buyer. Lets get to the impeachment showdown in washington. A key republican senator is speaking out saying that she is disturbed about how the process is unfolding so far between Senate Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell and the white house. The Newman Police k9 Association Posted this video on its instagram account. It shows the Police Department delivering corporal singhs son his own patrol car for christmas. Singh told his son he would grow up to be a Police Officer and he would teach him. It was delivered yesterday morning to get his training started early. That is heart warming. Police are saying little about a shooting in the tenderloin that left a man dead and two others injured. It happened late Christmas Eve at the intersection of jones and farrel streets. A 30yearold man was found with a head injury and a 23yearold woman was found with a gunshot to the ankle. No word on suspects. In oakland, police are investigating a shooting that left four people wounded this happened last night during a Holiday Party at a home on 34th avenue near foothill boulevard in oakland. Three men and a woman were hit. Police are not releasing further details at this time. Also in the east bay, Health Officials are warning people to beware of deadly mushrooms cropping up after the recent rains. Theyre most common in the parks at the base of oak trees. Two of the worlds most toxic mushrooms grow here. They can cause liver and kidney damage and death. Symptoms take up to 12 hours to appear after the mushrooms are e eaten. Breezes relaxed today, they become sunny, clear, calmer and much colder tonight. Our next storm, sunday evening through monday morning. Heres a few blips on the radar from the san mateo bridge. You can see it on 680, 880 into milpitas and on 237. A light shower is possible there. Thats the lowest level of our radar returns. You can see much more moisture in the Central Valley and down into southern california. Thats where the storm will continue sliding. 5 00, you can see a little chance of wet weather. It goes away rapidly. No gray on the map either as we head towards noon. Thats because the sun is going to come out. Look at the rainfall potential. It hits none of our sights this morning. It is a tragic story. It happened christmas night last night about 9 30. An accident with five people in a vehicle. Three of them were killed. Two of them were ejected. And they hit a power pole on foothill boulevard, foothill road, i should say, near castlewood. So the police there have foothill boulevard shut down as they complete their investigation and remove that power pole. The chp confirms that three people are dead after a christmas night car crash in pleasanton this happened just before 10 00 last night on northbound foothill road north of castlewood drive. A car hit a power pole and a tree. It appears that car was wrapped around the tree. Two people were taken to eden medical center. We do have Julian Glover working to gather more information on this story. Well have a live report from him in the next half hour. New developments, the man accused of stabbing the younger brother of c. J. Beathard to death is due in court tomorrow. Nashville police say Michael Moseley surrounded in a vacant home after it was surrounded by officers yesterday. Mosley is being held without bond on two homicide charges. He fatally stabbed Clayton Beathard and another man outside a nashville bar saturday morning. It happened after they got into an argument over a woman. And new details on a shooting that left a 6yearold boy critically injured. This happened Christmas Eve night in vallejo on ohio and mariposa streets. Melanie woodrow spoke with neighbors who crawled to their bathroom for safety while bullets pierced their home from the outside. Reporter kendra black and her fiance glenn say this is the last christmas theyll spend here. Theyre moving after bullets entered their home from outside Christmas Eve. Everyone was just screaming. Reporter one bullet in the direct path of kendras dad got lodged in the wall. It went through and hit him. The second one hit through here, broke through the curtain rod and exited through over there. Reporter did you think you were going to die . I honestly thought so because the bullet flew through our faces about this far in front of me and my brothers face. Reporter later they learned a 6yearold was shot in the torso. When Vallejo Police arrived, the 6yearold victim was already gone, taken to a local hospital perhaps by a Family Member in a private vehicle he. Im praying this boy makes it. Reporter so are neighbors. I really feel bad about that because hes 6 years old, you know. 6 years old, he had nothing to do with this thing. Reporter police gathered evidence like bullets through cars and even the bullet that went all the way through the home where black, her fiance and her family were celebrating Christmas Eve. We just feel extremely blessed right now. Reporter a memorable christmas, far from what they had imagined this season. In vallejo, melanie woodrow, abc7 news. A man is dead after being hit by a fallen tree. This happened on the trail in mur woir woods. Officials say the fallen tree hit four other trees causing debris to hit two hikers. A 29yearold man was killed. The second man suffered minor injuries. The National Park service closed a portion of the trail to clean up the debris yesterday. A mill valley says they were lucky nobody was hurt when lightning hit a tree and split it in half. Lightning hit the 100foot tall redwood on water view drive early yesterday morning. Piece ps s of it scattering on roof of a house, a car and power pole. No one was hurt but a family had to evacuate because First Responders were worried the damaged tree could collapse on to their home. We heard a big boom. Tremendous noise. Santa was a little loud, thats okay. Everybody is safe. Everything can be repaired. The family was let back in after a few hours. New this morning a report says shoring up San Franciscos ocean beach will cost at least 6 60 million more than previously thought. The 1 151 million project will begin early 2023 and take about four years to complete. Part of the money will be used to protect a Sewage Treatment plant from beach erosion. The project will include removal of the great highway between sloan and skyline boulevards. Officials call it one of the citys first projects to address the impact of climate change. Thank you. In the south bay, San Jose Police are investigating a hit and run that left a man dead. It happened after 2 00 a. M. Yesterday on east santa clara street. Officers found the victim lying in the street. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Homicide detectives are investigating the motive and circumstances of the death and trying to identify suspects. An 82yearold greatgrandmother is asking for your help after her bag which was filled with gifts and cash got stolen. She says it happened while she was on an amtrak train going from sacramento to fremont. Anser hassan spoke to the victim and has her story that you will only see here on abc7 news. Oh. Reporter 82yearold marsha is happy to be spending time with her great grandkids. But this is not the start to the holidays she was hoping for. Its very frightening. I will tell you, at 82, the first thing you think is youre having alzheimers. Reporter she says her bag filled with gifts and cash was stolen from the luggage rack on her amtrak train to fremont. I dont think it was an accident. I really doubt it because its big. It wasnt small. You dont take something that big by accident. Reporter she started looking for her bag 5 minutes after arriving at the station but it was gone. She says amtrak staff checked other cabins but werent able do much without delaying the train.
