Certainly that sunshine warming us up a bit out of that morning chill. Well look for a Beautiful Day today with numbers above average. Right now, a little cooler than yesterday, five to ten degrees among average. Emeryville, widespread 60s. A brief offshore wind event coming tomorrow, liz. Thanks, lisa. Developing news out of the south bay, San Jose Police are looking for the person who fired shots into a home with the residents inside. It happened just before 10 30 last night on cape buffalo drive. Officers found damage to the home and cars that were, quote, struck by various projectiles. No one inside the home was hurt. Police have not identified any suspects. Firefighters in Contra Costa County have contained a small grass fire in martinez. Flames were spotted just after 11 00 last night near john swett elementary school. There were reports of fireworks going off in the area prior to the flames starting. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Neighbors in union city are morning the loss of two young boys who were shot and killed in a School Parking lot. It happened early yesterday morning. Police are still searching for the suspects. The deaths mark the first two homicide in union city this year. Abc 7 News Reporter anser ishasn has the details. Its obviously terrible for the families. Prayers go out. Reporter Union City Police say they got several 911 calls reporting gunshots. When Police Arrived on scene they found two boys in a marked minivan surgery from gunshot wounds. It wasnt just like a few fireworks that usually go off in this neighborhood, they like to do that here. But yeah, it was a very long, long, drawnout range of shots. Reporter the 14yearold died on scene. The 11yearold died on the way to the hospital. The motive behind why they th t under cts to c contact investigation. Reporter crime scene ral shell casings, hoping it will help determine what kind of weapons were used. This mom, who didnt want to be identified, says her son went to school with one of the boys. The School District says the other boy used to be a student in the district. I dont think hes grasped it yet, hes afraid to go outside. Reporter Community Involvement will be critical in solving the case. We rely on our community to be our eyes and ears in situations such as this. Its extremely important, their role in this is extremely important. Union city police have not ruled out the possibility that this may have been gangrelated. Theyre also investigating whether this is related to another shooting that happened wednesday. The School District will Offering Counseling to students and staff when they return after the thanksgiving break. Anser hassan, abc 7 news. At least towed and several suspects detained after sideshow activity in oakland. Police say one car was towed for doing doughnuts at international boulevard, then fleeing from police. The departments helicopter followed the car and directed patrols on the ground to the driver. Then police say another car was towed and multiple subjects detained as they threw bottles at officers at 66th avenue and coliseum way. Oakland police have had extra patrols on duty for the last several weekends to prevent sideshows. A vigil was held to honor the life of a pregnant woman shot and killed. Misty smith walton leaves behind two sons, 8 and 11 years old and was 6 months pregnant with a girl. S. The say misty and her husband came outside because her car alarm was going off, then above were shot. The vigil was held at the same spot where misty was killed. A letter from her sister was read at the vigil. Our hearts will forever be broken by this senseless tragedy. Our communities are suffering from losing their loved ones to gun violence on the streets of oakland. These stories are hurd eard so , it has become the normal. Mistys husband survived the shooting. Police have not provided suspect descriptions. An 18yearold was unconscious after a drug overdoes. The officers used narcan, a drug new to their toolkit, which reverses the effects of an overdose. Abc 7 News Reporter luz pena has the dramatic story. Reporter one hour into his shift, the officer jumped over this counter to save a life. The driver and the brother, the brother said, my brother needs help, my brother needs help, i think hes dead. Reporter officer vega called for backup and began cpr on an unconscious 18yearold boy. The body was very cold. There was no pulse. He was not breathe at all. Reporter how was that for you, to try to save someone and youre touching them and noticing theyre pretty much gone . Its it can be hard. It can be hard. But weve got to react. Reporter the victims brother told the officer his brother had had an overdose on cocaine and heroin. This officer ran to the back of his patrol car and grabbed his bag, where he had a dose of narcan. Weve been trained on this, to issue narcan for these kinds of situations. Reporter Oakland Police have saved five lives in the last 45 days thanks to this training. Every field officer carries narcan with them. 800 units were recently donated by highland hospital. Its not too often that we ever are in this situation where we can honor officers who save lives and it happens quite often. Reporter both officers will be recommended to receive the medal of honor. To them, seeing the victim survive is the biggest reward. His brother smiled at me and the first thing he said was thank you, over and over. Reporter in oakland, luz pena, abc 7 news. In the south bay, several stores inside a san jose strip mall were damaged after a fire broke out just before 5 00 yesterday morning on a building at new berry drive. Firefighters found flames burning in bonita clearance and called an alarm to prevent it from spreading. The cleaners along with a p pizzeria had heavy damage. The owners of the clearances believe it was arson. A few days ago someone wanted to break in. They started using fire. Weve been in the business for 30 years, my mom and i. We dont have any idea who would cause Something Like this. No businesses were open, and thankfully nobody was hurt. One person has died following a fire at the Rossmore Community in walnut creek. Three units have smoke and water damage. The residents stayed where also overnight. The name of the person who died has not been released and the cause is still under investigation. All day today, b. The san jose harley riders group outdid themselves this year, donating a huge amount of turkeys to the Second Harvest of silicon valleys Food Bank Donation drive. A lot of folks are less fortunate, especially now, so we try to do this every year to give something back. Reporter this woman stopped by to drop by a turkey. So many Homeless People are suffering, in this land of plenty, that is not acceptable. Reporter Second Harvest hes a big goal of collecting 24,000 turkeys this Holiday Season. Were actually serving 10,000 more people every single month. Reporter Second Harvests ceo says financial donations are down this year by 100,000. But the need is bigger than ever. Were serving more and more working people, people who are working at low wage jobs and really struggling to be able to afford their rent and food. Body camera video shows a man police say is homeless attacking two officers. This happened in sacramento. Reporter chris thomas has more. Reporter new body cam video shows the moments two Sacramento Police officers were attacked. [ shouting ] officers are responding to a call about a man who was allegedly threatening to kill someone with a hatchet along i80 near norwood. Police say when they got there, a man threw a large rock at the officers. Hes in the alleyways running towards norwood. He just threw a rock at me and hit me with it. Its chilling when you hear on the radio your officers are calling for cover. Reporter officer justin hanks tells me hes been patrolling for 14 years. Watch how it all started. Reporter even after tasing the suspect, police say he continued to fight with the officers for several minutes until they were eventually able to take him into custody. The incident happened around 2 30 thursday morning at pluck bomb ice cream. The owner said the lockbox was broken and used to enter the story. Then the rain. Well talk about it all, coming up. Police in alabama have arrested a suspect accused of shooting and killing a veteran sheriff. The sheriff was killed while responding to a call at a convenes store. 18yearold william Chase Johnson was taken into custody after he returned to the same gas station where the shooting happened. Sheriff williams was a marine and spent many years in Law Enforcement including ten years as the sheriff. The democratic president ial field is bigger now with former new york city mayor Michael Bloomberg officially entering the race this morning. His tv ads are starting to air in some states today. Abc News Reporter rachel scott has more. Reporter former new york city mayor Michael Bloomberg announcing hes in the race for president. Im Mike Bloomberg and i approved this message. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is back home after being discharged from the hospital. The Court Spokesperson said she was in the hospital after experiencing chills and a fever. Ginsburg was evaluated at a hospital in washington, then transferred to hospital in baltimore. Shes at home now and doing well. The Public Policy institute of california found 85 of californians are concerned about the homeless issue. A majority of those surveyed also backed a proposal that would require cities to provide enough shelter beds for the homeless to sleep indoors. 22 people were killed earlier this year at a walmart in el paso, texas. A 30foottall memorial is made up of pieces that group together to form a massive candle. The grand candela, as its called, is built on the stores parking lot. Those who perished and their families will not be forgotten. With this candela memorial, well always honor your memory. The suspect in the shooting, as you might remember, drove more than ten hours to carry out the attack. He was arrested and has pleaded not guilty to murder charges.
