Just to give you a sense of, you know, whats going on here. This is time lapse video of the kincaid fire as it raged overnight into Sonoma County. These images are from a stationary county near geyserville that is intended to spot wildfires. The camera thinks its daylight and switches to daytime mode. Wow. Well continue our breaking news coverage. The kincaid fire, you will be able to see what we are talking about as it burns in the hills. Well go to okay. I guess well get to aim mmy in second. Lets check in with lisa. Temperatures are very warm. 60s and 70s. Winds gusting to over 40 Miles Per Hour in the upper elevations. The reds indicate the warm conditions. The relative humidity right now in the north bay from 12 to 11 in the upper elevations. You can see 15 in novato. Continue to dry out the atmosphere throughout the morning hours. So the winds remain strong. The temperatures will increase. Thats going to allow through 1 00 that relative humidity to drop even lower into the single digit range. From cloverdale, lake berryessa, yucaipa, petaluma at 12 . By the afternoon, 2 00, 3 00, the winds will get lighter. But still by 5 00, relative humidity dangerously low. The atmosphere is dry. Then by tonight the winds, well, theyll back off. Theyll still be offshore. We will see that relative humidity creep up a little bit. We will be out of the extreme danger by later on today. Our red flag warning continues through 4 00 p. M. Heres the current wind gusts in the upper elevations above 1,000 feet. You can see the reds, the yellows, 30 to 40 Miles Per Hour right now where that fire is burning. And looking at that sustained wind at 20 and 25 Miles Per Hour. So, well be checking back with you for a look at the entire bay area forecast for your thursday coming up. Thank you. This has grown really fast. Now up to 10,000 acres burning. Amy hollyfield is in Sonoma County and is joining us near the fire lines. Good morning. Look at this wind. I cant believe it. I feel confident this fire has grown beyond the 10,000 acres, the last report we got. Were watching it explode behind us. It is growing so quickly. We just cant believe it. Every time we look up it has spread further. It does put off a huge orange glow and so much smoke. And where were standing so many cars just stop. Like really just slam on their brakes when they see the view from where were standing. They pull over just to watch it. No one can quite believe it e s many fire trucks speed through. Were on alec zappedi alexander. The fire has spread down into a valley that we can see. It has also pushed further to our left as weve been standing here. This wind is unbelievable and is fueling this. These big gusts of winds, theyre shaking the vineyards where were standing. Obviously my hair is blowing all over the place. Ill deal with that as we continue to cover this. Its so much wind here. No way firefighters can get a handle on this now in these conditions. I want to show video closer up. The site from far away is impressive. Here is some closer video, driving down guyse er er er erse road through the fire to give you a sense how huge and intense this is. They have put evacuation orders in place. Everybody on red winery roa needs to evacuate. All of Alexander Mountain road, highway 128 from geysers road to river road including the casino. All of that area, all roads off of riverroad, everyone there needs to leave immediately. Hopefully everyone already has. Were told right now this is burning in a very rural area, not headed towards neighborhoods like we saw two years agohen we were in santa rosa and it headed towards neighborhoods such as coffee park. My photographer and i did cover that two years ago. We commented a couple times how these conditions are eerily similar to what we experienced two years ago when we covered that fire. Its dry and so windy out here. I do have a sound bite. Sorry. Pardon me. I want to bring in a sound bite from someone who did evacuate and is experiencing all of this this morning. I believe it was two firemen, they came to our back door, and they alerted us. We were sound asleep. And they said be careful theres a fire in the hills. What do you think of this . Its pretty awesome to look at and it changes every minute. With the wind, its reminiscent of two years ago. We were able to evacuate safely. The fire never touched us. But were very aware of how fast it can come. That was kate larsen who was working last night and stayed over until the morning covering this fire. She got that interview for us. I just interviewed a resident, ill bring you his sound in the next report. He also talks about two years ago. Its so fresh on everyones mind, just how familiar this feels. Everyone knows someone who lost their house. Everyone thinking about that this morning as they watch this fire rage up there in those hills. Reporting live from healdsburg, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. The fire is not burning in healdsburg, but you can see how much of a few they have of the fire. Thats red winery road, Alexander Mountain road, and highway 128 from geysers road to river road. That does include the river rocca seen no. Two Evacuation Centers have been set up. The first at Windsor High School at 8695 windsor road. The second evacuation at the Healdsburg Community center at 1757 held buraldsburg avenue. The evacuations will be consolidated to the Healdsburg Community center. So you might as well head to that one. Were still under this red flag warning now. Yes. Right through the afternoon. Well have gusty winds, the offshore flow. Right now current temperature in and around geyserville in the 70s. Relative humidity down to 11 . Winds out of the northeast at 25 Miles Per Hour, gusts to 37 Miles Per Hour. So were certainly looking at the conditions pretty dry and getting drier for the next five to six hours. The reason why, this. The offshore winds out of the northeast will continue to blow. Theyll continue to dry out the air. The temperatures will rise. With that combination, the warm temperatures, the offshore flow, the winds, the air drying out, this is not going in our favor. Only until the winds dial back will we have increase of relative humidity and then the temperatures have to come down as well. Today it will be hot. Well see 80s at the coast today. 90s inland. The other breaking news story is hundreds more pg e customers are waking up in the dark because of the latest rounds of shutoffs. Parts of San Mateo County had their power cut off because of the fire danger. Parts of napa and sonoma counties were shut off yesterday afternoon. In the bay area the biggest area with power out is in Sonoma County. 27,000 customers are without power. Many schools and businesses in smoonoma are left with no choice but to close. Right now we dont have emergency days built into our calendar, which affects the childrens education, because we wont have the abity to make these days up. Rickys eastbound shook up the blackout with a bring your own light night. Neighbors met up for a night of drinking in the dark. Im monitoring the pg e ouage map on the utilitys website. You may remember during the last power shutoff there were powers with the website crashing. It is working right now. So this is what you need to know. This is probably as dangerous as it gets around here with the offshore flow, the gusty winds and low relative humidity and were building on it with this stretch of dry conditions on through the last couple of months. This big dome of High Pressure is building into the eastern pacific, we have the perfect setup that we get often this time of year. The red flag warning pretty much the entire bay area except for san francisco, close to the bay, on through 4 00 today. Northeast winds up to 30 Miles Per Hour. Gusting to 60, not unlikely. Look at the current numbers. Heres the cooler numbers. Low 60s in union city. 71 in berkeley. 69 downtown. 70 in pacifica. When the numbers go up, the winds go up, the direction is north, the atmosphere continues to dry out. At the surface we have the gusty winds at the coast. Mount diablo, 17 relative humidity. Youre planning your day today, it will be a hot one. 70s and 80s early on. Well see those 80s at the coast. 90s the next few days. The cooldown comes this weekend. Thank you. Were following the sigalert in the north bay. What you need to know is state route 128 between geysers road and geyserville road is closed. Thats between geysers downtown geyserville. Amy hollyfield showed us video riding down geyserville road, it was incredible. If you need to be in this area and commute through, 101 is the best option whether going north or south. We do know were hearing from the chp that Emergency Responders are working on the fire. So there is no word on when this will open. It doesnt look like it will be any time soon. Back down here in the peninsula area, we have the san mateo bridge, pretty smooth for the most part this morning. No other major incidents to report around the wabay area. Well continue to follow the pg e outage impacting thousands of customers and that fire burning in the north bay, 10,000 were monitoring the kincaid fire at 10,000 acres. On the phone from cal fire we have amy head. Tell us right now what the operation is like in smoonoma county. The fire is 10,000 acres, zero percent contained. Weve been battling the winds throughout the night. Thats managed to push the fire very rapidly. They are starting to calm down a bit. We do have those winds to deal with throughout the next day with the red flag warnings in place. How close are these flames to peoples homes . Have you had to go door to door helping people get out . Whats the situation with that . There have been evacuation orders in place. The Sonoma County sheriff is assisting with that. We evacuated approximately 600 residents, another 200 are under advisory evacuation. Its somewhat sparsely populated. It is out in a rural area. It is burning towards the south, towards the town of geyserville but still a good distance away from the town. Are you hearing reports of any of the power lines in the area being energized . Has that caused a problem for firefighters . Not to my knowledge. This area where the fire was was in a power shutdown area. What would you say are the Biggest Challenges . We see the wind, but is the power shutoff affecting you . The Biggest Challenges is the terrain. Its steep, rugged terrain. Very rural. Not a whole lot of roads in and out of there. It is nighttime, its hard to see. Well have a better visual in a couple hours when we get some daylight on it and we can get our aircraft in the air, which will be a big help so we can see what were dealing with. There has been a lot of fire, a lot of wind really driving how this morning has gone. Right now the wind has died down. Theres embers, the edges of a fire right here next to me, but no immediate danger to me or anyone right here. There is immediate danger in the general area. Its coming down the hill. Earlier this morning we were further up. We were engulfed in flames. The wind swirlig in every direction. We had to drive down. The Fire Department saying move, move, theyre trying to keep everyone safe as they head up to go and check out that fire. Zero percent contain m mement m theres not much they can do. In the distance we heard some bulldozing, so some defensive lines to prevent this fire from getting into more densely populated areas. Right now were in wait and see mode as this fire creeps down this hill at a fast pace. The hill is starting to really catch fire as this fire grows as the winds are unpredictable and well have this monitored for you. All right. Thank you, will, for that update. This tells the story as well with numbers in the low 60s to upper 70s. The numbers have continued to climb overnight. We have m diablo above 1,000 feet gusting to 33 Miles Per Hour. Heres the winds. They continue to be offshore. They continue to blow up to 25 Miles Per Hour and cloverdale and geyserville is right here. Well continue are with very little change. As we geto the 9 00 hour, still over 35 Miles Per Hour in this area. You know that the winds will create their own forecast as we get into that fire area. This is just a general idea. Getting to 11 00, the south bay and the east bay, its lighter. This will be the trend as we continue throughout the afternoon. When we look at the lighter winds. Still offshore. Still hot. This is what the peninsula looks like. Upper 80s today. In the north bay near90 degrees. 85 in pacifica. We are continuing to follow that sigalert that is happening because of the fire, state route 128 between geysers road and geyserville road is closed right now. Emergency responders are following up on the fire. Thats their primary focus right now. If you saw will reeve earlier and our video from amy hollyfield, that is geyserville road, what they showed us. You can see the flames, the wind and everything around that area. Dont try to drive near there. The alternate is 101. All roads east of 101 in that area are being impacted by the fire.
